This is not the place you wanna go if you were having those kind of problems you will not be helped. You will come out feeling worse than you did when you went in. My husband was recently there. He has chronic illness and chronic pain from back and neck surgeries. He was having a really tough day with his mental health and he was having really dark thoughts so we took him to the hospital to get help. Unfortunately, he ended up here at Southtown behavioral Hospital. He didn't get any of his clothes for two days so he was cold and walking around in scrubs. His clothes were sent with him clothes that were appropriate for the hospital. My husband has chronic pain. He has a pain doctor. He has a pain prescription. They didn't give him any pain meds for a whole day when he has a prescription to take them every four hours. He said his first day there he just laid in bed all day. There were no group sessions scheduled. So how is that helping someone's mental health when all as they do is laying in bed by themselves all day? Why is this place still open and not shut down. I've heard from people that used to work there that the place is terrible and they would never recommend anyone to go there. If you have a loved one suffering with mental health issues and you have an option to have them go somewhere else take it.

Not only did they address my addiction the helped me through my divorce of 20 years. Having said that I want to reiterate you comfortable they made it from detox to discharge no other place does it like them if I could give them 10 stars I would. I know there are rehab places flooded online trying to get patients in. But that's the difference between HCBTS they treat you as a human being not an insurance payday. So moving forward call Mel get admitted and they will change your life for The good. I moved straight into a sober living house called Oxford that they helped me get into it's been a game changer. I also recommend the alumni meetings either zoom or in person they make you feel like you can accomplish the world but remember take it one day at a time and work the system just know you can do it there lots of support and they do follow ups on your progress. I could go on forever about HCBTS. So what are you waiting for call Mel and your life will change. This review is looking pretty epic! Nice!

I got a another call by the assistant director and more professional, but still demeaning, "it's midnight". I said "got it, understood". Then quickly realized, addiction issues never deals with time, and the amount of money this place requests, this is beyond okay. I called back the assistant director, no answer but said on VM what I said last sentence. Then, I looked up the assistant director's background - Real Estate history Only. Nothing related to addiction or mental health.

Perhaps I had realistic expectations, having worked in the drug treatment world and having dealt…read morewith drug seeking behaviors, but I found Dr. V & staff refreshingly honest, pretty open and willing to continue, despite my own withholding of some information that might have been helpful, initially. The laws around distribution of controlled medication have been tightened, after nearly condemning many in our country to lifelong addiction. The rebound could have been worse, so I have some compassion for their business. My "worst" experience was when I actually threw my script away one month (I am old, on a lot of pills and got interrupted during the putting them in the cabinet phase of unloading groceries). It sounds like a weak excuse, but it was real. I knew the docs were prevented, by law, from just reupping the script four weeks early, but I did not expect to endure withdrawal for over three weeks with no relief (especially from the leg-shocks or nerve zaps or whatever they are) that prevented ANY sleep for days on end. Looking back, I think I should have gone to a detox clinic. Instead, I found an old script and spread what little was left over three weeks (and after missing a full week of work). The response from the doctor on call was nothing less than just "rude" (and it was not Dr. V or Erin, my regular ARNP) however but truly, I've listened to drug seeking behavior, and I believe THAT was what informed her response. Also, I will guess that it was after many times burned because "guessing wrong" results in disaster & death leaving just no room for empathy. I understood why she was "firm," but not having any suggestions to alleviate the symptoms seemed to land a little on the "neener-neener, you should have known better" side of the coin. So, after that experience of having NO recommendations or medications to managing severe symptoms of withdrawal, especially for someone who had been a patient for over four years, with just that one incident (which was over a year prior to writing this review) I have become METICULOUS about accounting for my scripts. Also, I have leached a bit from each month's prescription so that if I EVER find myself in that situation again, I can at least taper myself off the dependency gradually, and perhaps avoid the withdrawal. To me, this is far LESS dangerous, than seeking scripts from strangers, or using more of some OTHER drug (that may have side effects) in hopes of stopping the spasms, nausea, diarrhea and other symptoms. I will NEVER go through that withdrawal again, and see now why withdrawal alone can induce relapse. After all that, why did I return to a medication that causes such physical dependency? Because the pain I have is so debilitating, it makes me unable to work (especially at my current job that requires almost 3 miles walking, daily, according to my Fitbit). I cannot afford that - few can! The medication has Z.E.R.O. euphoric effect - so I am NOT tempted to take more than prescribed or use it in any way other than as prescribed. Using this medication is the FIRST time in forty years where I did not struggle to take it as scheduled AND it actually eliminated the pain! To me, this is truly a miracle cure! But the true cost is physical dependency. I have to accept it, I don't LIKE it, but can (now) manage. And overall, I find the office more personable, caring and adhering to standards than some. All of which are things I would want them to do with any of MY clients, or my children. I just wished they had SOME protocol for managing withdrawal symptoms, when necessary.

I had what I can't quite confidently call the worlds strangest doctors appointment with Dr V. It…read morewas my second visit to this pain management practice. I saw the nurse practitioner the first visit, who I did like. She ordered some x-rays. and was very empathetic. I was under the impression that this was a follow up with the doctor, who would proceed further with the course of action I had talked about (at length) in my hour visit the week prior. Boy was I wrong! This doctor entered the room early, while the nurse was still taking my vitals. He introduced his intern/ med student, by insulting her school in an awkward joke. Then he asked what I was "in there for today." He very obviously handn't even looked at my chart. But before I was able to answer fully, he launched into a loud aggravated tirade about how, "Obama ruined his ability to do his job by requiring evidence based medical treatment." He ended the lecture by staring at me and demanding that I agree with him. I tried to redirect by saying I agreed that insurance companies make it very difficult to get procedures and tests approved. Then after a short couple sentences related to the x-rays, he asked me "so where do you think your neuropathy comes from." I said, "I think it's a result of my lupus." He belly laughs," Oh you're one of the lucky whites with an autoimmune disorder." aren't you lucky! Then he started on a history lesson about the black plague in Europe, which explained why "Whites get auto immune illnesses more than THE Blacks." and How it actually comes from our superiority and adaptability through natural selection and the plague. Again he stars at me like some maniacal college professor and asks, "how did the plague travel from the east to the west? (pause) Go on! take a guess! try!" I said, "trade routs." "YES! good job!" then another few minutes of The blacks the whites and the asians.... a little cursing. Then he says," and why did whites travel so much? because we're more curious than the blacks. and because of this we're more prone to addiction. especially heroin. (looking me dead in the eye) Don't ever try heroin. Me, "ok." At this point I wanted to ask, "BUT are you on it now? Maybe they need to Pee test you." (They are very big on pee testing everyone.) He asks his intern to go see if they can find the MRI of my back. They couldn't find it. So it's another round about Obama and how "in the good old days he could just give me a shot in my back based on where the pain is in relation to his nerve chart, but now we need EVIDENCE based medicine. so there's nothing he can do today. But they'll try again to get the MRI, or maybe order a new one." and maybe they'll focus on my knee pain because that's easier, but we'll need an x-ray for that. and.... that's it. That's what my $40 copay and the hour drive to olympia got me today. I left just gobsmacked - what just happened? I'm still in disbelief. And he talked sooo fast! It was absolutely insane.
