I'd rather spend my money on something stylish and very useful than a tacky t-shirt or a mug. When I walked by this shop and saw the jacket, I knew I'd found my souvenir. While, I would have been content to just slip the jacket on and check the size, the friendly woman working in the shop insisted on dressing me in front of a mirror. She showed me all of the countless ways I can style the jacket and gave me very thorough instructions on its care. The jacket was made with excellent detail to quality. I cannot wait for the weather to cool in Chicago so that I can start wearing it.

The staff were very friendly: digging out an unpriced, untested vintage portable record player for me to try and when it worked giving me a totally fair price on it. I got it home and am totally thrilled with the find. I also heard from the nearby brewpub Barberie that they love this shop and had worked with them to design their t-shirts. Quebec City has some truly heart-warming examples of local business collaboration and this is an awesome one, go say hi!

But not Quebec in the kitschy way, think artisan products made by local artists ranging from feather hair pieces and wool socks for men to fur everything and hand painted magnets. The good: even balance of offerings for both males and females. The bad: slightly on the pricey side but you have to keep in mind these are not mass produced items.

They've been throwing around the F word for nearly three decades, specifically with their "F**k la Mode" ("F**k Fashion," in English) brand. Well, at least the French-Canadians are embracing the multi-lingual culture with a slogan using both English and French! You'll find their motto on mugs, shot glasses, hand-towels, keychains, caps, t-shirts, beanies, snow hats, socks, gloves, shorts, jogging pants, camisoles, and hoodies. On these items, you'll see their red FLMs emblazoned on camo, on maple leaves, on antlers ... and, my personal favorite, on a red-cap-wearing troll giving the one-finger salute. While I'm sure was a little more shocking back when they started in the Eighties, they are still leaning into their brand with an admirable amount of joie de vivre. One personal note and aside: While it's dynamic, the red caps are too reminiscent of MAGA hats. Yuck. Do they have anything else at Oclan? Well, they ARE officially a boutique that has several fashion lines with wares for both men and women (most of these will be found downstairs in the store). Their items include Circolo (unisex semi-casual), Guccheap (and internal unisex casual clothes brand), Autumn Cashmere (women's knitwear), Ecru (fitted pants, mostly for women), and Des Petits Hauts (women's blouses, dresses, etc.). Overall, I think the FLM brand a bit much, the prices are high, and I'm not quite sure how you can say "F**k Fashion" while having a boutique with several different fashions in the store. I still think it's worth a visit. You may be transfixed by their bold brand!

They were very friendly and unpretentious, like everyone else I met in Canada. What caught my eye is a 1939 Kalamazoo guitar, made by Gibson. It's in great condition for it's age. He was asking a lot for it, but it's a time capsule. 1930's Gibsons and Martins are the holy grail. These often need expensive restoration, but this is a nice one, no cracks, etc. Someone like me, but much wealthier, is going to love it.

It's located in a very walkable area of Quebec City that's surrounded by countless specialty shops and cafes, and I wish I had more time (and more money) to spend in this awesome shop! It's crowded inside. It's very crowded. The store isn't really all that large, but they manage to put three store's worth of merchandise in one small location. Wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling, it's all merchandise. The merchandise is crazy and awesome. There are vinyl records, games, comics, vintage signs and post cards, ages-old memorabilia, and more stuff than I could adequately remember to include. It was, of course, the vinyl record display outside the store that caught my attention. The staff was awesome and spoke both French and English. (I applaud the fact that so many people spoke both, when Americans (myself included, but I do know a fair amount of Spanish) tend to master only one language). Magasin Général P.L. Blouin is an amazing, charming, memorabilia filled shop that I wish wasn't so far away.

Low pressure souvenir shopping environment…read more This was the most comfortable store to shop in out of 10 stores that I shopped in. Also reasonable prices. Kind of disorganized but I liked the low key environment. The manager was very pleasant and accommodative and went downstairs to bring up more of a hat that I was trying on so that I can compare more on fit and feel. I ended up purchasing a Canada Hat here.
