This review is long overdue. I can't speak highly enough about NxStage Kidney Care in Parkland,…read moreFlorida. After my mom spent a month in the Cleveland Clinic hospital and on dialysis for the first time in her life, she needed an outpatient dialysis center. Initially she was referred to a Davita location, because it was very near home in Boynton Beach. During her few weeks there it was apparent that's a place you do not want to be for various reasons. We expressed this to my mom's awesome nephrologist at Cleveland Clinic and she asked if we would drive to Parkland for dialysis. We said certainly if it meant an exponentially better experience. So, she called Nx Stage Kidney Care and on the way home from the doctor we stopped to check the place out. As you'll understand from my review, the 25-minute drive to Nx Stage Kidney Care rather than the 5-minute down the road to Davita was beyond worth it for every reason! From the moment we entered the NxStage center, we felt a HUGE difference from Davita. First, there was obviously thought put into the design of the center so it would be aesthetically pleasing to patients (and their families) to lend comfort. The greeting was also wonderful from Isabelle, who then and every time afterward would give the same warm, genuine and welcoming greeting. When we entered into the treatment part of the center, the comforting design continued to be apparent. Plus it's not a factory where 15-20-25+ patients are dialyzed at the same time. This is a small center with no more than 10 chairs and most often less than capacity. They use a unique, small dialysis machine. These machines were designed with home dialysis in mind, in case an individual and their caregivers want to go down that road. But, there's no push at all to get you out of the center. It's simply an option, if desired. Let's talk about the other folks there on the healthcare delivery side. They were ALL wonderful, compassionate and helpful! My mom's main dialysis tech was Idelia. She's a sweetheart with an upbeat energy who takes the time to listen to the patient's needs, concerns, etc. As the point person for my mom's healthcare, I can't say enough about how incredible Idelia was making sure I got the lab work results, calling me with any questions/issues, coordinating everything with my mom's doctor, and much more. Kristen is I believe the lead nurse there and she was so helpful whenever my mom or I needed anything. Thankful for her knowledge and experience that helped me as we reviewed lab work, etc. Tatiana also would care for my mom here and there with kindness and compassion that we very much appreciated. Finally, there's Jan the center director. From the moment we first visited the center, she was incredibly informative and accommodating. She was always available if we had anything we wanted to discuss. Oh...and I can't forget Pam the dietician, who was awesome. She was engaged whether in person or via email with a positive attitude. Her help with my mom's diet was immeasurable. Although dialysis isn't something anyone wants to deal with, during the six weeks my mom was going to NxStage Kidney Care it was like visiting dear friends. It was so obvious that they put my mom and each patient's well-being at the forefront of everything they did wth a genuine caring. This came through in everything they did and fortunately it was an integral part of mom getting off of dialysis. She's been off now for seven weeks and hopefully that will last years and years. But, if ever my mom (or any loved one) needs to be on dialysis, there's no doubt this NxStage Kidney Care center will be the #1 choice...#2 choice...#3 choice. You get the picture. :-) If you are reading this and would like more information about NxStage Kidney Care or our experience with kidney care/dialysis in general, don't hesitate to shoot me a note here on Yelp. I understand how confusing and overwhelming the experience can be and would be happy to help ease the situation, whether you're choosing NxStage or need another option that's closer to you. In any event, if you're reading this it's likely you or a loved one is on or in need of dialysis...and my heartfelt wishes go out to whoever it is for a kind and compassionate experience wherever you receive dialysis. Kind and comforting wishes to all of you. TJ
