The prices are very reasonable and the staff are absolutely lovely. Swimming at MarJons is good, there are always Lifeguards at the pool and they always appear attentive and professional. The pool is a good size and rarely gets overly busy, especially during the summer (non term time) months when the students are away. All the changing rooms and the pool itself are usually clean and lockers are provided (for 20p, which you unfortunately don't get back) Other sports facilities are also good and well priced, badminton is easy to book (you can book in advance, but i personally have never done this) as they have a nice amount of courts. Also, the squash facilities are fine, though they are completely enclosed by solid walls (as opposed to having a glass wall at the back) which is a shame and can sometimes get slightly claustrophobic. Generally though, it's a lovely place and well worth the money, only misses out on 5 stars because it's starting to look slightly dated, it could do with a nice make-over.

When we came out of the pool we had a roast Sunday dinner in the pool restaurant / cafe, the staff were very cheerful, pleasant and helpful. The pool facilities are really good with changing cubicles next to the pool and security lockers for your belongings whilst you are in the pool. Plenty of parking room along side. I have not been in the gym, although I intend to do so, all in all a very pleasant experience. The water in the pool is excellent warm an very soft.

Childrens swimming lessons take over the pool one evening a week but it is one of the nicest pools Ive been to and definately very child friendly. There is also a small cafe but this is very basic.

The setting is an old estate and their are child oriented family outdoor activities set throughout the grounds, with something for all ages of kids, from toddler areas up to some fairly daring stuff for teens. There are assault courses throught the trees, zip slides, pirate ship in the lake, (bit stony-use beach shoes/crocks) wooden forts etc. It's all made of wood, and is a lovely, natural setting in woodland for an old fashioned fun family day out. Its the sort of place where kids feel they've done something a bit brave and builds confidence but is safe. There are also bookable activities such as canoeing, climbing and high ropes for the really adventurous.

Junk food at its worst - fatty, flavourless, and poorly prepared; and no healthy options or fruit. And packaged like there is no tomorrow; no obvious recycling options either. We need healthy, child-friendly food with minimal packaging. If we go again we'll take our own food.

Admission prices to these kind of places always seem steep to me, but in reality and taking in all there is on site, the admission is very reasonable. I would agree with @peteburden that the food is pretty grim. The kind of fast food that you get at a fun fair or similar, so there are no surprises. But there are areas to eat a picnic if you want to bring your own food, which helps. And you can leave the park and return later via the usual wristband/hand stamp route. I have been with my family a couple of times now, and have had both good and bad weather. Woodlands make a lot of the fact that there is plenty to do in all weather, and I have found this to be true indeed. While bad weather is always going to limit the appeal of such places, Woodlands has a lot of indoor play areas, and these are aimed at kids of different ages, so you don't need to worry about toddlers being knocked about by older kids. Although obviously one has to be vigilent. We will be holidaying in the area again this year, and will be certainly paying Woodlands another visit. Also, at the moment (27/04/11) on the Woodlands website there is an offer of a 6 day admission for little more than an individual day's price.

There is a baby pool and a large pool with space for lanes. Wet and Wild sessions at the weekend and during the holidays include a river rapid ride and two slides. There is a detailed timetable which splits the day up into small chunks and means that sessions are often limited to an hour. Therefore essential to phone ahead to get details of opening times. The cafe is poor but does seem to be improving slowly. The changing rooms are small and can be dirty. The showers are rarely hot!
