I recently had to take my son in with an inexplicably (very) painful knee. The staff were unstintingly kind and turned what could have been quite a traumatic experience into something that bordered on fun ("I love having my bloods taken out"). We're not just talking toys in the waiting room - there was an 'art cart' loaded with fancy pens, stencils and bits to colour in and take home. Communication was superb, with both me and with Sam - he was never excluded or talked down to. He likes to know what's going on and I'm confident that the fact they involved him so much made the tests more bearable. Even beyond the treatment, staff members passing us in the waiting area often stopped to ask how we were doing and have a quick chat. The staff were extremely thorough, gave him loads of time and didn't diagnose him until they were confident they'd ruled out the more serious possibilities in several appointments over the course of a week. Obviously I hope we don't have too many return visits, but I'm confident that if we are ever back we'll get brilliant, personal care in a really sensitive, child-focused environment.

The place is loved by the city and often specialist equipment is bought on the back of fundraising campaigns organised by the Friends and well publicised through the local papers. I arrived and the detox was hell on earth I dont feel that castle craig are experienced nor…read moresympathetic toward users of heroin they seemed clueless to be honest and the detox is their way or the highway with bupomorphine or nothing I experienced 4 days of hell and in 2 days had received a 2mg of bupamorphine (didn't touch the sides) i advised that previous tries of this were unsuccessful for me and that this didn't agree with me it made me ill regardless of detox or not iv always had a reaction. It took me 3 days to finally receive 10ml of methadone but the 3 days prior I received 2mgs alone. They also use colonidine to take the edge off this is useless its clear its all about costing and you receive the cheapest possible medication, I have received a stronger detox in police custody and more sympathetic. Finally I felt.slightly better once integrated into the community and met my therapist and started the step work and you embrace it but on reflection there's no TV no phones no books outwith what they provide so ofcourse ur stimulated mentally by the step programme because of not there's nothing else at all so its a mind trick and it works because there is nothing else to do or discuss ur days ar 12 to 14 hours of it. Therapy is meant to be a massive part and it should be however therapists focus on step work not psychology and most therapy is group work so individually you dont really receive the direct therapy alot of us require and when you do have ur therapist appts they either cancel or blatantly ignore the days and times given. The community run the day to day saving wages and the money is ploughed into therapists salaries however they are never available they dont keep appointments etc. I had to have medication same time every morning however it was at a time of a lecture and if I did finish early enough there's a team meeting no regard that you are withdrawing and in pain its just tough luck however YOU must be on time. Still i went with it and actually got my head into it feeling positive and doing the work I won't lie it helped a little to feel emotions etc again and learn small skills but its the community other patients who heal you. Then I had a tooth begin to fall out a front tooth hanging by the nerve and the root the pain was unbearable I asked for pain relief and was given clove oil each time I took matters into my own hands and took cocodamol I had in my handbag that they didn't find searching and I didn't know initially I had however I found them early on into my stay and hadn't taken them. Initially I had asked a friend to bring some painkillers they wouldn't and remembered I had 7 pr 9 cocodamol, next morning went for medication received it and was drug tested therapists and even housekeeping staff couldn't have made it more obvious something was going on that day arousing my suspicion more that this wasn't random testing then came the sniffer dog in a select few rooms, it failed to find any illegal substances or the cocodamol but I was asked if I had drugs dropped.off and told them no but I had cocodamol I took for toothache handed the remaining tablets over instantly. From that moment onward I was treated like a petulant child i was supervised packing an overnight bag removed and put into the detox unit with 4 walls as entertainment as well as the parting words of my therapist saying that this was really bad and she would see me the following morning with an outcome but its really bad. The tone the treatment etc etc was humiliating spoken to like a child told that I can have pain relief for toothache they were unaware. After hours stating at 4 blank walls I had enough I wasn't spending 18hours in what may aswell have been a police sell like a criminal and asked to leave I was upset I asked for my belongings etc and I was visibly upset and in pain with my front tooth hanging out. They called in the doctor and head therapist patronising me start to end and gave me strong painkillers paracetamol lol banished me back to the room and asked me to stay not to be silly and leave unsafely etc. Following morning no therapist visits me with an update but a nurse comes in tells me to go back to my normal programme I oblige. Within 1min of entering the building I was chased down and told off for being there and accused of making it up that thr nurse at detox told me to, when they checked and I wasn't lying no one apologised I was again made to wait 1 hour for my medication and banished back to detox then I got called in to be patronisingly informed im being discharged for cocodamol for toothache. They wouldn't allow me to have my phone to arrange to get home etc no numbers no money etc and fpr 5 hours left.me waiting on discharge papers still refusing me the phone incase I left before hand. They then continued to treat me like a silly little girl demean and speak to me in such a condescending tone I blatantly told them I wanted to go home and use.

The building itself is in need of upgrading but it is not that bad as it is a recent enough build. Accessible for wheelchair users. The Medical Center is occupied by 2 GP practices. mine is Dr Tolley's one. The GPs in this practice tend to stay a long time (2+ years or so). I feel really taken care of and listened to. The doctors I have consulted really take time to hear me out and find out what is wrong. They also have medical assistants and practice nurses, whom are efficient and very friendly (bar 1 or 2 occasions). As I have a chronic condition I require repeat prescriptions. Which they let me order by email. Opening times are until 6pm which makes it good for when you finish work and still need to visit them - saves taking time of work! Good job Dr Tolley!

The reception, doctors and nurses have always been great and I've never had too much trouble getting an appointment. You can request to see the same doctor but I'm usually happy to see whichever doctor is available as I've only been in for fairly minor issues. All the doctors have been friendly and have been good about listening to what I've had to say. The nurses are always relaxed and kind and good at making sure I'm comfortable. No complaints at all.

Went here for a check up on my achey brakey heart recently…read more It was great! In and out in about 30 minutes. It has the look and feel of a hospital but is definitely more cosy than any hospital I've been in. Easily accessible by bus (I didn't check out the parking facilities) and very easy to find. I was worried I would get lost in the winding alleyways of Leith but found it without trouble (a surprisingly difficult task for someone like me!!) The staff were very efficient. I had no booking, just a doctors note. When I entered I showed the receptionists my note, they directed me to the correct place where I handed my note to a nurse. Ten minutes later I was on a bed and ten minutes later I was out again with all my questions answered, worries addressed and confirmation my heart as not about to turn on me. Everyone was friendly from start to finish and I'd have no problem returning here for a check up at any time!

I found the servers helpful and the back of house team clearly very good with the butchery skills. As much as I would like to have private health care I was here only due the NHS buying up excess capacity. Lovely room with a table for one looking out of well manicured gardens. Rabbits abounded and I saw some birds mating. For my lunch course I had soup with a panini. Being Scottish when selecting my menu choices I ticked all the boxes in the hope they would provide me with more than one meal. Unfortunately I was informed that one could only have either a panini OR the poached salmon course. Sadly I went with the panini but after consumption I would not recommend it. The taste was chemical and washed out but I am not sure if there might have been a correlation with just waking up from a medically induced coma. Overall 4 stars. TOP TIP - take your own slippers with you and a robe. Although I was provided with a flattering gown - (on the house I may add!) the robe and slippers they gave me would have been more suited to a diminutive woman. I think I flashed quite a lot of leg and heel.

After slipping a disc in my back and being on my back for more than a month in extreme pain, she took one look at me, laughed in my face and told me I'd be better in a week. No examination. Since that time I have been told by several other professionals that had I had treatment at the time then my back would now be fine, instead of which I am still in pain every day. I seriously advise you not to visit this practice.

The receptionists were not only friendly but very patient with all my questions. I've visited each of the doctors here now, and they've all allowed me to spend as much time with them as I needed to - I've heard horror stories about rushed appointments and hastily-written prescriptions - but they were very easy to deal with and made jokes while I was there to relax me, which was very much appreciated! I've always gotten appointments within at most two weeks of calling up, and I've been treated with perfect professionalism at all times.

We have had various scans during this pregnancy from other places and this was just a joke in comparison. I should of realised as I drove up to a rundown shed on a disused part of the airport grounds just what was going to be on offer. First the place was so cold both me and my wife had to sit with our jackets on while filling out forms, the girl on recption having no idea what we had booked or been promised by the manager and had to make numiours calls to check if we were aloud this or that and then started to try and add on more money for every little thing! My wife was taken in a room also so cold she shook during the whole scan, which could of not been more rushed (but realised when we came out after 15 mins why as 3 other couples waiting to get rushed through) During the scan they could not answer any of our questions about the baby and kept prodding the baby trying to get it to move into a better position. The teddy bear heart beat was taken with one if the £9.99 monitors you can buy from boots and was such poor quality you could not even make it out. The bears on offer also was very cheap and poor quality. On leaving the scan my wife was very upset by the way she had been treated, more calls were then made to the manager/owner to try and squeeze us in to another appointment who then hit angry and was trying to tell me he was doing us a favor booking us in for a extra scan and no other company dose this which is a complete lie. At this point we had enough and just left losing our deposit and canceling any further scans. Please do not use this company as I said we have had various other scans done from very professional companies who do care about your well being and not just mass profit.

We took our daughter and her partner here for a 3D scan and it was the most wonderful experience…read moreever, we did not know what to expect we had looked at the photos on the website but the reality of it was far better. We opted for the gold package and it was worth every penny, the images were sharp and so clear we got to see our granddaughter at 28 weeks, it was something we will never forget. We came away delighted with 2 DVD's which are made like into a movie type thing with captions and images to keep forever, a CD to enable you to get your own prints done if you want more, a beautiful silver frame for the photo and 5 printed off images which were so clear it was lovely. The staff made us feel very welcome and explained everything to us, we as the grandparents were seated at the back of the couch where my daughter and her partner were allowing her some privacy and us to be comfortable in the lovely sofas, coffees and teas were offered and we felt very happy not just valued as customers but actually it was like more of a welcome from friends. We are considering doing it again in a few weeks as we loved it so much. The sonographer was lovely and so friendly making sure my daughter was comfortable and pointing out all the features of our granddaughters face, eyes nose mouth, her eyelashes etc just amazing. She was sucking her fingers, and winking her eye! I cant recommend Babes in the Womb highly enough you must go and take your friends and family, its a once in a life time experience. I have worked with Family Circle in the past and found them great…read more I worked as a nursery nurse and babysitter. Although you could get better pay elsewhere, it was good experience and a good way to get in to Nursery work. I was offered a job by the first nursery Family Circle sent me to! They always paid on time and any other staff I met from the agency were great girls who clearly loved working with children. I believe they also do a 'home help' type of service for the elderly - a lady on my street uses this and has told me in the past she usually has lovely girls come to help her. Overall I had a very positive experience with Family Circle.
