A fairly typical JDW Wetherspoon pub, but in a nice location: On the Blackpool seafront. I.e. if…read moreyou're lucky enough to get a table by the windows. This place is packed at most times during the day, so often you can't find a table AT ALL - even for one person. On weekends, it's hopeless. Cheap food and drinks attract a certain clientèle, so it can get a bit rowdy and loud - especially since it's only one, big room. The Albert and the Lion is certainly *not* one of the more attractive Spoons - it seems a bit moldy and seedy - no changes since my first visit in 2011. The building itself is impressive, but you can't see it from inside. The outside seating area is *very* limited indeed, just a few tables.
Food and drinks, the usual: Fairly impressive selection of rotating guest ales on tap (usually 8-10), plus a broad range of alcoholic drinks of every conceivable kind. All at rock bottom prices. Food is similarly cheap, and there are "club" days where a specific kind of food (say, steaks, Indian food, Mexican, Fish Friday) is offered at an even lower price. Just don't expect restaurant quality - it's all convenience food.
No place to linger, definitely.
