I found this therapist through my EAP, I saw the ratings online about it and had nervousness about going, but I decided to go as I figured I'd feel better talking to someone. Nope. They wanted a $55 deposit. I explained that this is covered thru my EAP and I didn't even know if I was going to continue seeing this therapist. Didn't matter. I endured over 2 years of this office's parade of incompetent therapists, convincing myself that I just had not found the right fit. The last therapist I was sloughed off onto was the worst of all, the number of times she invalidated me in our sessions is insane. Not unlike her, come to think of it. I have since found an amazing therapist and realized how much time I wasted with 4 horrible therapists in 2 years at Southeast Counseling. The worst therapist is still there as of 4/22 so please avoid this office for your own good. Also, Southeast Family Counseling is a different firm and is much better than these hacks. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. My daughter had an appointment scheduled earlier this year. I called to cancel more than 48 hours ahead of time, then found out that I was charged. I called and the office manger checked their call logs and acknowledged that there was a call from me to their office more than 48 hours before my daughter's appointment and they refunded the charge. My daughter is again in need of a therapist, so I called today to make her an appointment, and I was told there was a note on her account saying not to schedule anymore appointments for her due to non-compliance to policy. They're refusing to help a child in need due to her being upset at the time that I was able to prove they charged me in error. I would not recommend this place to anyone, solely based on their management. read more

I had recently set up an appointment with this office. Upon arrival, I was given a form demanding my credit card number and wanting me to sign a statement claiming that they could charge the card at any time. I have excellent insurance. I don't have a credit card and told the receptionist. I was told to discuss it with the therapist. I did. The therapist told me that they needed me to prepay a missed appointment fee of $35 just in case I miss an appointment in the future. She said that it was because they have a file drawer full of unpaid invoices for people who owe money due to missed appointments. After sitting through a torturous session of closed ended questions that felt judgmental, the therapist said that she couldn't take me as a patient. I left feeling worse than I did coming in. I can see why they have quite a few people missing appointments! Here is my .02 cents. Most people have limited mental health insurance benefits, and can't afford to waste them with unproductive sessions. When choosing a therapist, go with one that offers a free phone consultation just to see if you can talk to him or her. If the person asks a lot of closed ended questions or makes you feel judged, it would be best to thank him or her and continue your search. I would also advise avoiding any therapist that demands an upfront fee for missed appointments as there may be a reason people don't come back. My insurer told me that demanding that I pay for a missed appointment in advance was akin to being billed for a service un-rendered. That is a gray area. I saw them less than a week ago and have already been billed for something that will be covered by my health savings account. If I had given them a credit card, I'm certain that they would have charged it. When I called to reassure them that they would be paid, the person on the phone wanted to argue with me about their billing policy. If they would call my insurer, they'd know it would be 100% covered. In sum: Interview new therapists on the phone before setting up your first appointment. Try to find a good fit. DO NOT pay a missed appointment fee when you've never missed an appointment. If a therapist has that many issues with people not showing up, it could be a sign and a signal that something is wrong on her end. NEVER give a new provider carte blanche to charge your credit card number. I hope this helps someone. Oh, and the receptionist and therapist will argue that their medical providers expect a credit card on file. My family physician, my kids' pediatrician, my dentist, and the family orthodontist have never once asked this. I'll work on leaving reviews for them. read more

Shady, questionable staff. That sums it up. I never got to see the therapist because the staff was pulling funny business with my credit card. First, they wanted me to write my credit card # on a scratch piece of paper. I told them that that was pointless because I have a black card that will not process charges initiated by key presses. The card must be swiped, as I have set it up that way. I was told that there was a $45 deposit for the next visit after the one I was there for. I informed the office staff that there was no visit even scheduled so that it didn't make sense to put a deposit down on a service that isn't even scheduled and may not even be needed. I was looking, after all, for a referral to a psychiatrist. One of the office ladies offered that I could pay the $45 deposit right away and then after the meeting I could settle up the rest. I agreed. When I gave them my black card, the office members commented on it and passed it around to each other. "oooh! ahhh! how cool is that!" is what staff members are saying. When they finally end with the show and tell, they run my card for $135. $90 for the visit, $45 for the deposit on the next unknown, unscheduled visit. I protested and told them that I was told $45 would be charged. The attitude changed and I was told that if I didn't pay the $135 I would not see the counselor. I argued that I'm paying $90 today, right NOW to see a counselor and they would not allow me to see the counselor unless I did the deposit too. The biggest problem here is that they told me they'd run my credit card for $45, which I agreed to, then they ran it for $135. This after all the, "oooh!" and "ahhh" behind my card. The following morning I phoned the office. Their story was different. I was told, "oh we said you could just pay later and you refused". I told the staff member that I have no problem paying for services. I offered that I could pay the $90 up front. DIRECTLY AFTER the meeting with the counselor I would pay ANOTHER $90 upfront for the next meeting. No deposit needed when I'm paying the entire fee AHEAD OF TIME. To this, their response, "You're not welcome here and we will not be offering you any services". Right, because I'm not a fool with money, which is what this place wants. They're unprofessional, liars, and put more attention into examining the neat designs on fancy credit cards. I wonder if the counselors know about the rampant unprofessionalism going on which is hurting the counselors' income levels. Doctors offices go through staff like a fish through water, and usually for reasons such as these. If these counselors hope to make a decent living, they need to be employing staff that aren't concerned with bling and status and rather getting patients in to see the doctor, the latter of which I feel is the furthest thing from their minds. read more

I originally started our here a year or so back, seeing a therapist that was not someone I felt connected with. I did eventually come back on my own time and was put with a therapist here that is amazing. I am greeted very warmly by the office staff each time I come in. I have never had a bad experience here. read more

We have been coming to southeast for almost 2 years now. The staff has always been welcoming and warm. We absolutely love Demi and have always been met with kindness. Over our time there we have had too cancel and reschedule appointments and have never had any of the problems other reviewers have seemed to have with the office staff. They have always been super accommodating. It may not be the fanciest office but I don't care what the chairs look like in the office as long as the care is quality and that is the experience we have had. It took us three other horrible counselors and almost giving up before we found Demi and this place has renewed our faith that there are decent therapists out there. When my daughter was going through some things they even opened up time on a full schedule to make sure she was getting the support she needed. I can't say enough good things about Southeast Counseling and Coaching and Demi is the absolute best. read more

Wow - how lucky are we to have found Southeast Coaching and Counseling! We have been coming here for over two years and have found the staff to be pleasant, helpful and accommodating. Their billing practices are transparent and they have always been willing to provide the additional documentation for my health savings account. They have worked with us when there have been payment issues and any time an urgent appointment is needed, they have been able to "squeeze us in." In addition to the ever helpful office staff, the therapist that we work with (Cheryl) is truly exceptional. She creates an environment that is peaceful, safe and conducive to therapy. It's funny someone recently posted that they are money hungry. I totally agree. They do not set appointments after 3:30 for any EAP clients. When asked why, the snotty red headed office manager stated "because there's more paperwork and we don't get paid as much. We reserve those time slots for paying customers"! Who says that to a customer? Interesting to see they only care about people who will pay the most. The counselor we just met was great and he had no problem with later appointments, but she told us he has no say in it. This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced, and even more troubling is that it comes from a mental health business who could care less about anything but getting their money. Horrible management! Why would an owner keep such grouchy, snotty employees? Sounds like she's been there for years. Says a lot about the owner as well. They may have some good people there, but that is no way to run this type of facility. Most people start off using an EAP to find the right person then pays out of pocket. Horrible. The environment is not welcoming at all. You walk in and you feel like you are in an old building, this is in a very nice area of town, but you wouldn't know it with the receptionist sitting behind glass windows and keeping them closed the entire time. Like the other reviewer said, they REQUIRE a credit card on file just "in case" you no-show for an appt. WIll not recommend this facility to anyone. read more

The office help at Southeast Counseling & Coaching Center threatened to not let my daughter be seen by her therapist unless I accepted the offices unrealistic expectations and demands of their made up policies. The office help is beyond rude and unprofessional in threating abandonment of treatment in the care of a child. read more

I've utilized this organization for both individual and couples counseling and had great results in both endeavors. The counselors are compassionate and helpful. I am self-pay and have never had any issues with their billing procedures in the 3 years that I've been a client. read more

Personal front staff, until it comes to them getting paid. They want a card on file at all times. Their therapist actually blacked out some of my child's records. They have no problem telling one parent one think and the other parent something else. Then I find out that they changed my child's therapist without any word. I have to say their professionalism doesn't exist. My child has been seen 3 years now and I i've gotten every excuse in the book from them. read more
