It's nice that dog owners generally pick up after their animals, so poop does not litter the landscape here. There's a nice trail, basketball court, soccer field, baseball field, playground, a few grills and tables. There are usually a few kids, moms, dads, and some sports games going on.

They have great amenities in making this a wonderful park. But.....way too much debris all over the park. Everywhere you looks you could see litter and it looks like it has been there for awhile. I understand people at times throw their trash anywhere when done with it. Too bad for that way of thinking. But.....the park division should monitor the park for debris and dog poo on the artificial soccer fields. There is a sign that says no dogs on artificial turf, but who reads anymore. I seen at least 8 dogs on the field and one at the far end doing his business , off the leash, no owner in sight to pick up the poo.

Willow just wanted to meet the other dogs, explore everything and smell all the smells.

Nothing but trees and open space and acorns and tree needles and leaves and all kinds of other natural ground coverings. Multiple picnic tables and areas to sit spaced throughout the trees. They even have a take one leave one poop bag dispenser about every 50 ft along the fence line. Parking is a little bit away but the walk does you good. But for some reason you have to go through the big dog park to get back to the little dog park which can sometimes makes for some very interesting interactions!! It brings Isla (and me) so much joy that she can socialize with friends and get all of her energy out (depending if it is just parks or parks and hikes in the day, she can get in 26k - 45k steps!) She comes home mentally and physically exhausted, and she is so happy. Baden sends pictures of her during the day, and Isla is always smiling. The dog park is just natural normal trees and ground covering fenced in for your dog's enjoyment!! The gym has 3 areas -- cardio, weights, and open space (we used it for sparring; could be used for stretching or yoga too), and wasn't crowded on either the weekend or weekday. The pool is pretty reasonably sized. And the clubhouse is quite large. Pretty cool that the neighboring lake is stocked. There's also a small dog park on site. I don't think we live close enough to make the most out of a membership; but Durhamites seeking a swimming pool should consider this.

It is still clean (a positive) and there are more people who live downtown now so it's slightly busier on the weekends. However, there is still little seating or shade. Also, there's not even a fountain or water bowls provided for dogs so BYOB for your pup. I really hope that with so many things changing in downtown Durham the City will put some funds into improving this dog park.

You can access this park at the Chatham Park entrance off of THOMPSON St in Pittsboro. Great little venues for kids that keep their attention. The crawl through house is a hit. Also the nature area with artificial grass is cool. Kids can crawl through a little tunnel. Of course the "Splash Pad " is the hit. Cool off under different designs with a purpose. To get you wet and cool you off. . That is not all !! A large Dog Park to let you furry kid run and play. If you want to make a picnic of this, you can . Covered area with picnic tables, out areas with picnic tables and charcoal grills. Walk area around the park in a semi circular fashion. You can view the park from the walk area. Also Pittsboro's answer to Stonehenge. I don't think these rocks are aligned in a astronomical way, but they are indigenous and check out the veins of Jade. That Stonehenge area has wire grass and I would recommend something to cover your feet. Oh almost forgot. Bathrooms are also in the big building with the covered picnic area. Even if Mother Nature does dribble on you. You can make your way to the covered area. All in all this is a great park for everyone. My Granddaughters approved of it.
