If you're thinking about buying from Southern Farm Supply in Union Grove, NC........BEWARE!
They can't be trusted. Don't let their friendly demeanor fool you. If you buy a piece of equipment from them, don't be surprised if it's not what they claimed.
As a person, I typically don't write reviews...even about a bad experience. Everyone makes mistakes and should have a chance to correct them. But in this case, Southern Farm Supply lied to me.
Don't make the mistake I did of trusting them.
Here is what happened to me. I hope this can help someone avoid what I've gone through.
MY STORY:
I recently spent almost $33,000 to purchase a previously owned tractor and new implements from Southern Farm Supply. They claimed there was an invoice that showed the tractor had received its first 50-hour service work. They also claimed that Southern Farm Supply had examined the tractor.
However, after we arrived to pick up the tractor on Thursday, June 2, 2022, there was still no invoice to prove said claim. Southern Farm Supply said it would get the invoice from the previous owner and mail it to us. We proceeded in good faith.
Looking back, this was a MISTAKE. I should have never trusted Southern Farm Supply without written documentation.
Not long after the purchase, the tractor's A/C needed repair. I took the tractor to the Albemarle Kubota dealer. Once again, I asked for the invoice and communicated that I had called the Mount Airy Kubota dealer, which had no record of any service done on that tractor. Then Southern Farm Supply said that the previous owner serviced the tractor himself and purchased the parts from the dealer. They also stated that they would get the invoice for that.
A few days later, the Albemarle Kubota dealer called. They explained that the tractor had NEVER received its first service. The tractor had over 65 hours but still had all the original gray filters from the factory. These are unique to the manufacturer, and all filters afterwards are white.
Upon learning this information, I contacted Southern Farm Supply, who shifted blame to the previous owner. They had the previous owner contact me, and he communicated that he didn't replace the fuel, oil, or hydraulic filters but had a neighbor change the oil.
Here is the bottom line: Southern Farm Supply claimed my tractor had received its first 50-hour service and that it had paperwork to substantiate that claim. Neither was true. And I've spent $401.49 for a 50-hour service that never happened.
Southern Farm Supply has totally IGNORED this issue.
When I contacted them, the owner said, "The salesman advised you that he we were told by the prior owner that he
had the engine 50 hour service work done at 42 hours. We are sorry if you understood anything different than that."
In other words, Southern Farm Supply only relayed what the prior owner said.
He never addressed the LIE about having the tractor serviced at 50 hours!
Their representative CLAIMED there was an invoice to substantiate the 50-hour service work and CLAIMED that Southern Farm Supply had examined the tractor.
My professional background was a director for regional fixed operations and customer service for a nationally traded automotive organization. I understand what honest customer service looks like...and what it doesn't look like.
Don't be hoodwinked.
I hope you'll learn from my mistake of trusting them and find a dealer that has more integrity than Southern Farm Supply. read more
