Was originally told by the surgeon that I would be able to go home after two days in the hospital. Despite the delay, I was pleased that the doctors kept me until they were satisfied I could safely go home. My recovery at 3 weeks post surgery is going well. I am a 78-year-old widower from Auburn.

They told me to arrive at the 10 AM appointment at 9:30 to register. I was finally called to be checked in at 11:45 and called back at 12:20. I made it to my 2 PM appointment at 1:15, and the lady at the check-in desk told me my appointment was at 10 AM. I explained to her that my 10 AM appointment was at the hospital and that I had a 2 PM appointment in the plaza. She then asked if I was sure. I said I was 100% sure and showed her my wristband as proof. She then asked me if it was a hospital band. She searched around on the computer and said she did not show me as having been at the hospital that morning. I can't make this stuff up. She then told me I didn't have a 2 PM appointment scheduled. I told her I did when I called that morning to confirm the time. She told me to have a seat. At 3 PM, I went to the desk and asked her what was going on. She said, "Oh, I forgot about you." I informed her that I was not going anywhere without being seen that day, so she needed to do whatever it took to find whichever doctor it was that I needed to see. Finally, around 4:15, I was called to be checked in and called back to be seen around 4:25. The doctor doing my exam was very apologetic and explained it was a misunderstanding (it always is). I have no choice but to go to Grandview, but if you do have a choice, please choose wisely. Read the reviews.

This review is a long but necessary one for those parents like me that need more substance. Overall, we love Oak Mountain pediatric dentistry office and know you will too! Our daughter had to have a baby tooth pulled after a great attempt at keeping it as long as possible. Who on earth would think that a child would actually enjoy that experience? My daughter started off a little hesitant but quickly started singing to Frozen during the whole process. They made sure she was comfortable, alert and calm. They have tv's on the ceiling and the chairs are actually more like a relaxing bed. She was involved in the process from choosing her flavor gas to the colors of whatever tools had an option. It truly helped her relax and allow the process since she felt like the decision maker. When I tell you that as a parent, I actually almost teared up that we found this place. Not only were they able to extract the problem tooth, they identified a smaller cavity that could turn into a problem and fixed it at the same appointment in addition to coating her other molars to protect them. The quality of care is superb. They answered every question and even leading up to the procedure called to check on us. They provided after hours instructions. I could go on and on. If you're thinking about bringing your little ones here, I'd recommend acting now before they're full and can't take any new patients!

I called this…read morecompany with a positive attitude, although they were still charging me for the contractual adjustment amount, which they are legally required to write off. I called last month and they said they resolved it, but I received another bill. The first lady that I called, I believe her name was Tiffany, was an absolute angel! I forgot that she told me to call her back on her extension if I received another bill... So I called the phone number on the bill again - this time, I was answered with a very rude representative. She laughed at me for stating that my insurance paid the contractual adjustment (yes, misstatement on my end. I know it is a write off) but continued to act like I was stupid. Excuse me, YOU WERE THE ONES TO SEND ME A BILL FOR THAT WRITE OFF WHEN YOU ARE LEGALLY BOUND TO WRITE IT OFF... Again, I would never complain about someone if I did not have a rightful reason - in face, this is the very first poor review I have ever left. However, the phone call left me feeling like a fool when in reality, it was not my mistake but theirs. I wish I had called Tiffany back. Moral of the story - not everyone can help customers without making them feel bad for calling and asking questions. Not everyone can be kind. Every company needs a Tiffany to answer the phone. She was so kind. Soo thank you Tiffany, but I am sad that I received poor service from whoever answered today.

I called my insurance and was told that it had been billed with the wrong Dx code. Agent called the practice while I was on the line and left a message on how to resolve the claim. I received no call back from Tiffany. The name on her voicemail. This was on Dec 20, 2024. I checked the claim today still not paid. I called taled to my insurance now the claim was denied for untimely filing. To say I'm angry is an understatement. I called the practice and left a message in their general mailbox asking for a manager to call me back. This is a billing error. It would have been paid if it had been billed correctly. And done before the time fir billing insurance had expired. They have 12 months ftom service to bill and or appeal with medical records. I am not paying for their mistakes.

Gentle music, calm atmosphere, massage chairs, a blanket if you want - all the things. Everyone is so kind and helpful, and the staff and doctors are so attentive. I've had regular cleanings as well as fillings and, most recently, a crown (same day!) at this location. I have zero complaints about any of these interactions. They develop a care plan with you before treatment, so there are no surprises when you're done. My 5-year old daughter also is seen here and she has developed an early enjoyment of going to the dentist, which I know is uncommon. They are so patient and gentle with her and she has no qualms about going for her cleanings. All-in-all, I would recommend this group to anyone seeking dental care.

My sister is a Black woman, and the way Black employees were treated raised serious concerns for me. She also described what she felt was unequal treatment among employees. According to her, one white employee was allowed to contribute very little to the workplace without facing the same level of scrutiny or consequences as others. This created concerns about favoritism and unequal standards. I also learned about another Black female employee who reportedly passed out after being exposed to blood. She continued working there afterward but was reportedly fired approximately a year later. This raised additional concerns about how Black employees were treated. It seems to be a pattern with Black individuals in general. Seeing Dr. Gooch wearing a "Gulf of America" T-shirt also made me uncomfortable and contributed to my concerns about the workplace environment. Based on my sister's experience and what she shared with me, I would encourage anyone considering this office to carefully consider their options.

If you confirm an appointment for 10:30 am and still make someone wait until noon at the earliest…read moreto be seen. That's not good customer service and a tad unprofessional in my opinion. That person had to take the day off, arrange for coverage, rearrange a tight schedule to meet after much research. Go from building to building to even find this place. An hour drive each way and miss another appointment is ridiculous. Unorganized. No thanks.

I am a physician from South Florida who flew to Birmingham, Alabama just so I could visit Dr…read moreWilliam Hedden at the Hedden Plastic Surgery Center and have the "miraDry" procedure performed on myself, as quite honestly, I sweat profusely and after I heard him lecture on this topic at a medical conference, I wanted to have this procedure performed on myself to stop my underarm sweat and odor. As every physician knows, doctors make the worst patients, and I was on my best behavior to avoid being one of those patients that every doctor hates to see when they walk into the treatment room. So, after a flight to Birmingham and a night at the Grand Bohemian Hotel Mountain Brook, I took an Uber to the Hedden Plastic Surgery Center and was the first patient of the day. Upon arrival, the office and surgical suite was stunningly beautiful and modern that could rival any medical office in the country. I was greeted by a friendly staff, and completed my paperwork on one of their computers. I was taken into an examination room, given a full informed consent and explanation of the miraDry procedure. Truth be told, I already did some research before hand via one of his nurses and was well prepared to have the procedure performed. I had the pleasure to have Wynn work on me and she was an outstanding medical nurse that has performed the miraDry procedure many times. After a local anesthesia that I barley felt, the miraDry procedure is like a handheld wand that uses miraWave energy that targets and destroys sweat and odor glands in your underarm. Once those glands are destroyed they do not grow back so that means once they are gone, they are gone for good. The entire procedure took about 45 minuted each side and I had pretty much zero pain and took a Uber to the airport to travel home. The only challenge was trying to keep the ice packs under each armpit and travel on a plane, so if I had to do it again, I would have spend another night in Alabama and leave the next day. So there you go, I had the miraDry procedure performed on myself and now I get to write a Yelp review about an embarrassing medical condition I have (well technically I am cured now so the correct word is "had" and I am glad I did it). The day after and next few days after the procedure were not bad at all, other than some significant swelling in my underarms that made me look like I was at the gym, and there was some mild redness. I really had no pain, no complications, and would 100% recommend this procedure and Dr Hedden to anyone that has excessive underarm sweating or odor. I am sure that there are other doctors and medical centers that offer this procedure, but I decided to go to Dr Hedden as I felt he was a world class expert in this procedure and after hearing him lecture and spend some time in his office, I am super happy I traveled to see him and his staff --- he deserves my 5 star rating on Yelp.
