By now, the noon sunlight is unforgiving for photography than at 8 am, but the tenterhook rock (on every side!) and other rocks, and thrilling landscapes more than made up for it.  The mostly paved 0.25-mile loop trail is an easy walk. There is a picnic area with a bathroom in the opposite direction, which I didn't go to.

We have driven past this place many times but never really stopped to look. It's pretty hard to…read moremiss as there is huge writing on the rock with an arrow. The place was still closed when we drove by. We stopped and look at all the stuff though. It looked somewhat interesting especially for kids. They had a saguaro sculpture in front that looked to be made of bowling balls. It's probably a little tacky and touristy based on some of the things I saw. They have their own parking lot.

Double Arch in Arches National Park is quite a sight to see. It is only less than half a mile walk…read morefrom the parking lot and an easy trail to walk on. Double Arch is located within the Windows area of Arches National Park. It is the tallest and second-longest arch in the park. They call it Double Arch because two arches share the same stone as a foundation for both of their outer legs. It was formed by downward water erosion from atop the sandstone instead of side-to-side water erosion. I have been to this arch on a couple of occasions. The parking lot fills up quickly because this is such a popular area in Arches National Park. I usually try to spend some time seeing both Double Arch and the Windows arches when I am visiting this area. North Window, Turret Arch and the Garden of Eden areas are just as impressive to check out. Even though you can see this incredible rock formation from the road, definitely take the time to walk up to it. There are some spots to climb on and take pictures if you feel like it.

It's petroglyphs on a huge boulder, from different native cultures, from different eras…read more The boulder has 4 sides, and each side has petroglyphs, including one which is a depiction of a woman giving birth, hence the name. From Moab, you drive along the Colorado on a somewhat remote, but paved road. The road goes deep into the canyon, bordered by several remote camping areas and trail heads. There are a few mobile homes along the road as well, and a small wooden house partially built into the rock walls of the canyon. We also saw three walls, for lack of a better word, built of stone, like those found in ancient ruins. Unfortunately, they were on private property with "No Trespassing" signs, so we didn't go check them out. Anyway, once you no longer see homes, the road goes on for maybe one more mile, then turns to unpaved gravel. Dirt bikes, utvs and other vehicles all use this road, and because it is a "shelf" road, it can be a little scary. Just go a little slower than you normally would, and you'll be fine. The rock sits below the level of the road, as does the signage, so you may drive by it, but there is enough room to both pull over or turn around. There is no parking lot. If you're into any sort of history, but especially native cultures, this is a nice little piece of it to check out. 38/2021

It was incredible to imagine the devastation caused by a simple box of matches. The hanging iron lines and the framework of the towers are impressive. We walked along under the frame a little. Read about the fire and destruction. There are campsites farther in but we didn't drive there. You can access the ruins on both ends if you drive along 128. It was an important link connecting southeastern Utah and Colorado and other locations east. It was Utah's longest suspension bridge and longest clear span bridge. Nice stop with good views.

If you're limited on time, then hit this place up. It has a very high concentration of arches and…read morecool formations in a very small area. The parking lot is huge, and there are pit toilets if you need to make a bathroom trip. If you are so inclined and don't want to get out in the heat for the hikes to the arches, you can even see them from the parking lot from your car. Otherwise the arches are a short hike away. Additionally, it's good with people who have limited mobility as a lot of the trails don't have elevation gain. For example, the Double Arch trail is considered "barrier free." The trail has a hard packed surface. There can be lines for people who want the perfect shot, but otherwise it's not too crowded.

I liked the multiple ways of seeing the Arch. First, the arch view from the distance then massive view at the below then enjoyed again the view from other side. Many local businesses hibernate after thanksgiving to give themselves a break and retool or recuperate from the masses that pass through the other ten months of the year.
