I was referred to him specifically because I have a debilitating fear of the dentist after a traumatic experience. My sinus cavity was perforated in the event of the first procedure. I came back to the center Wednesday, May 13th 2026, after calling the emergency number because I couldn't hold air in my mouth, as there was a hole in my sinus cavity that the air was leaking through. I sat in the exam room for about 10 minutes with my mother, waiting, before Dr. Alec rushed into the room and began telling my mother and I how this was not his fault, and that it was absolutely something I did to cause this issue. For about 45 minutes to an hour I sat in the exam room and was laughed at for needing to be sedated for the procedure to have the issue fixed & told multiple times that I really don't need the sedation. I tried to explain to him that I wouldn't be able to get through the procedure awake, because I absolutely can't handle the sounds, the way it feels, any of it, while having a panic attack because I was humiliated by the entire conversation at this point, and because I was terrified of having a second procedure done. After this I was taken to the operating room, and put to sleep for the procedure while my mother waited in the waiting room. My mother reports that when I woke up, she could hear my screams from the waiting room. When I woke up from the anesthesia, I was in excruciating pain. I was begging for help, trying to tell the doctor and nurses how much I was hurting, but they were just talking over me, to my mother, tell her that this is normal when waking up from anesthesia. I began screaming that I was awake and I was in agony, to which it still took the doctor about 20 minutes before he came back with numbing medication. Then, without warning the nurses held my hands and legs down, and the doctor injected a needle into my sinus cavity with the numbing medication as I screamed. I was still very out of it from the anesthesia and was not expecting them to do that in the slightest, so I fully panicked when they held me down with no warning, and couldn't help but try to get away from the amount of pain that the injection had caused. Words cannot explain the amount of terror and pain I felt in that moment. I am writing this review 6 days after this experience, my face has still not regained full feeling and the whole side of my face is bruised. Dr. Alec called me at around 8pm the night of my second procedure, asking about my wellness, to which I told him exactly how I felt in those moments, how I don't believe he had numbed me before I woke up from the second procedure, and that I would never be back to his building again. He attempted to lie to me about my experience and tell me that what I experienced wasn't the way that things actually happened. Then asked that I please allow him to continue to be my doctor, to which I said absolutely not and I would never be back to his building, again. This phone call lasted 14 minutes. Dr. Alec then proceeded to schedule a follow up appointment for me, without my knowledge. I was called the morning of, and I had to explain how I told the doctor I would never be back 2 days prior. This entire process has been humiliating, traumatizing, and extremely, horrifically painful. This has taken a huge toll both on my mental and physical health. I would not recommend ANYONE to this facility.

if everybody went here for their very first dental visit, nobody would hate going to the dentist…read more The staff is amazing hands-down the best ever. everybody is so nice and encouraging and the dentists talk you through options and explain care needed on a level of understanding for everyone. they make kids excited to go to the dentist and make the experience not so scary Dr. Diaz allowed my son and daughter to be in the room for my cleaning and be part of the visit which made them more comfortable for their next visit. They are so flexible and understanding when it comes to scheduling and are very accommodating.

When they opened back up, they called and said my kids had to come in one by one & I was not allowed to come in. They explained that they would have suits & masks on & I said no way. My kids are not coming in alone, first, & especially when they can't identify the adults. There was no compromise. So, I said we would come back after the madness ended. Two years later, we went in for cleanings. I have never accepted fluoride & we only do x-rays at the minimum my insurance allows. This was nothing new, but this time Booker seemed offended & expressed his frustration to me. I said that was my wishes & we hadn't had an issue before, but he wanted to argue. I declined, finished the cleaning & left. 6 months later I went in & needed to get an old filling replaced. I had just had a doctor's appt where she told me to be careful what type of filling I get for medical reasons. When I expressed this to Booker & asked questions about what he uses he said he wanted my doctor's name because he was going to tell her she didn't know what she was talking about. I said that is very aggressive & he proceeded to tell me that I just need to let him do his job. He could not tell me what type of filling material he used or any health risks. He then started ranting about people who ask too many questions. I declined for him to do my work. His attitude & aggressive behavior is disturbing. He has an attitude like no one knows more than him, but he can't even tell you the materials he uses. I decided then I would not return. The next time my husband took my kids, the receptionist asked him if he was competent enough to make follow up appointments or if she should call me. Extremely sexist & just plan rude. My kids then did not return. My husband was the last holdout, until now. This week, he has an emergency. He was in a car accident & cracked a tooth. He called the office at 11 am to find out they had different hours for spring break... they closed at noon. However they didn't answer the phone at 11 am... he left a message to say he had an emergency. Nothing. No call back. He called again today & it says now that they are closed until Monday. He then received a message saying they wouldn't take care of him until Monday. Who closes their office for Spring Break? This business is so unprofessional. We're done.

All of the hygienists are friendly and very efficient. The ladies at the front desk are so sweet and friendly! I actually don't mind coming to the dentist because everyone is just so nice and you feel very welcome. On top of my regular cleanings and occasional filling, I have invisible braces (Clear Correct) through Cohen Modern Dentistry. I've been very happy with the progress! I also just started whitening treatments through them as well. Check them out! You will not be disappointed!

I feel like a freak because I love going to the dentist…read more Before I began visiting Dr. Cohen, I had already sat through a ton of dental work including a few extractions, countless fillings and a couple temporary crowns with several dentists. I *really* didn't like dentists before I met Dr. Cohen because my teeth had been treated carelessly by the dentists before him. But ask me now about going to the dentist and I'll say I love it. I mean, like everyone, I still hate getting my teeth cleaned and the terrifying sound of a drill against my tooth, but overall Dr. Cohen and his team make sitting in the dentist chair the best possible experience. I'm mainly updating my review to say this is still an awesome dental office. I now live in Dearborn but drive out of my way to have my dental needs taken care of in Wyandotte. I recently had to have 2 more crowns done (sucks, I know!) and they were both great experiences. Dr. Cohen and his amazing dental assistants always make sure to explain what he's doing, make sure I can't feel anything and that I'm as comfortable as possible. They even take care to put a moisturizer on your lips to make sure your lips and corner of your mouth don't get cracked during a procedure and give you sunglasses to keep the bright light (and water!) out of your eyes. His office still offers the amazing paraffin wax treatment, along with a nice, heavy shoulder massage wrap. They also have an iPad to play with while waiting for the doctor to come in, how cool is that? In addition, I noticed they made a few upgrades to the way they examine your teeth in regard to total body health. Again, if you're looking for an awesome, tech-savvy, considerate dentist with assistants and staff that truly care about you, please consider Dr. Cohen in Wyandotte. I hated dentists before I started going there but now, I can say: "Yep, I love going to the dentist."

And I use a sonicare and see a dentist every 6 months. I was shaken. It also took 40 minutes to have my X-rays done since I was a guinea pig for a dental assistant trainee who zapped me an estimated 20+ times and said it's normal for X-rays to be painful. It was awful. The dentist recommended 2 small fillings between two of my back teeth, even though only one cavity was visible and previous dentists had been keeping an eye on it. I had the filling appointment today and when I went back it was a different dentist and he said I was scheduled for 2 fillings, not on adjacent teeth. I told him that wasn't what I was expecting and he looked over my xrays and agreed there was a mistake. I ended up getting 1 filling. The dentist was skilled and professional but I will not be back to this office. Instruments that my dentist requested during my procedure were not available and a tool was not working properly but they had to make due with it. I felt like I was at a bottom of the barrel dentist office. I guess this is what I should expect from a national chain? Last but not least I was surprised by the estimated fees other than my copay. Aspen dentist is in my insurance ppo network and fillings are covered 100%. That is why I chose this office. Last week I requested the dental office submit a service estimate to my insurer and my insurer provided an estimate that stated I would only owe the deductible. Aspen dental still coerced me into signing paperwork stating I would pay the additional fees if my insurance didn't cover the charges. This was done before I saw the dentist and my procedure changed. I will have to call my insurance company tomorrow to see if they still billed for 2 fillings because this office is a shit show.

I had never had a good experience with a dentist in my life (maybe because I have a tiny child mouth and I'm always being yelled at to "open wider"...) so, I almost never went to the same one more than a couple times. I was hesitant to start over at another place, but I am so glad I did... On walking in, you can tell everyone loves working there and that they are a family. Dr Greg and Dr Joanne (married couple practice, how nice?) are so sweet they provide their own figurative job security; plus they have gadgets for checking your teeth that I had never heard of (including this thingy you can rest your teeth on that holds my tiny child mouth open for fillings, etc.) and the whole staff is excellent at what they do. In addition to regular cleanings, I had Six-Month-Smiles (quick braces thingies) to re-straighten my teeth before my wedding, so I got to spend more time there than the average patient which allowed me more time to observe the interactions between the hygienists, assistants, techs, doctors, and other patients.
