There are a couple of reasons why I've been quite happy with ATC: (1) The venue: Performances take place at the Tempe Center for the Arts. It's a beautiful theater all-around. The architecture inside and out, how modern and clean it is, the free water you can bring into the theater, how comfortable the theater is itself, the patio with fire pits, and the art that's displayed. They validate your parking if you park in the adjacent parking garage. Coming from a guy who goes to a lot of events, this is one of my favorite venues. (2) The price + the perks: I thought the price for season tickets was fair. As part of being a season holder, you also get some awesome perks like a free buddy pass, 50% off tickets to bring a friend, and more. (3) Customer service: My interactions with them have always been pleasant. If you're unable to make a performance, they will work with you. (4) The shows: I've been impressed with the sets and all of the theatrical elements that are a part of the performance. The acting, overall, has been solid, too. I have three more performances left. I hope next season's line-up is just as interesting!

As the self-appointed king of events, I'm back at it with another review of a venue. This time,…read moreSymphony Hall. Located in downtown Phoenix, this venue, you guessed it, houses the Phoenix Symphony. Though that's not all. They also host ballet performances and opera performances, too. I've stopped by three times for matinee performances on Sunday: the Mask of Zorro (opera), a Dia de Los Muertos performance (symphony), and Rick Steves' Europe (symphony). Since this is downtown we're talking, parking isn't easy. You'll either have to park in a garage/surface lot or on the street. I'm morally opposed to paying for parking, but I've had to shell out a couple of dollars to use metered parking ten minutes or so from the venue. Minus the parking difficulties, the rest of the experience is pretty awesome. You go through metal detectors to get in, but the line moves fast. They have complimentary water, which is always a nice touch. There are multiple areas to buy refreshments and snacks (beer, wine, liquor, soft drinks, desserts, coffee, etc.). And most importantly, the theater is beautiful. Pretty much every seat in the house is solid. And the prices tend to be affordable. They also have a nice variety of performances throughout the year. As a lover of the arts, Symphony Hall will continue to be a frequent entertainment option for me. If you've never seen a symphony performance, ballet, or opera, I highly encourage you to give it a try!

They had little tables where you could set your box lunch if you ordered in advance or just bring your own. You could tell this was a very casual event and fortunately most people finished their meal before the two performers began, but there was still some paper rustling and chip crunching so maybe quieter food in quieter packaging would help in the future ;) I loved how before the performance the garage door style wall was up so we had plenty of fresh air and light, and I was impressed with the screen image of curtains on the stage which as you can see in the pictures, really gave an excellent trompe l'oeil effect! On January 28, 2026, Sam Krausz (tenor),Yichen Xue (baritone), and Wan-Ting Yu (pianist) were all superb, and Yichen Xue was a real hoot as he really got into his role in the Così fan tutte piece where he is trying to convince a woman that he is the best man for her so he flexed his muscles and mimed reading a book, and showed how he could dance and sing. Not all pieces had adequate introductory information which was too bad as it is crucial since there were no projected subtitles as we had hoped. The online program just listed the songs and which opera they were from, but didn't even give an English translation or any helpful context for the song, so I think that should be considered for the future. It would also be a great encouragement to attend their big production if they could have one piece from it, even if it's just some piano music to tease people into attending. Perhaps they could also offer a little perk like a 1/2 price drink at Symphony Hall if you show you attended the Opera for Lunch production. Cultivating new patrons with little perks is always a good idea.

I appreciated how they had multiple sign language interpreters, as well as overhead subitites in English and Spanish. My daughter had a lovely time and enjoyed the show. She said she enjoyed hearing the singing and the opera singers really do have amazing voices. Before and after the show there is a crafts activity. For this year they had a decorate your own hand drum and there was also a goody bag to take back which had a sweet treat, a music toy, lanyard and a few small fidget toys. The only negative is that there might be a lot of road closures if another event is going on downtown and the parking lot is a little small so it can fill up easily.

I'll see shows that are touring if they have a spectacular stage presence like Anastasia; which was truly remarkable! A beautiful theatre, and for the right show, worth dealing with downtown Phoenix parking.

We went to watch The Phoenix Symphony performing with Troupe Vertigo: Cirque Carmen. It was a magnificent combination of orchestral music with aerial acts, dance, and circus style performances. The seats were very comfortable and the quality of acoustics was fantastic. Make sure you take a clear bag or a small purse (8.5" x 5.5") as they do have a bag policy. Large purses and backpacks are not allowed. They also use metal detectors and have security screening. I'd definitely love to go see another performance here.

Fantastic community theatre hidden in plain sight in Peoria. We attended a production of "Something…read moreRotten" this past weekend and it was so much fun. The cast was great, extremely enthusiastic, talented and obviously were having a blast on stage. I had never been to this venue before; it is definitely worth checking out. Perfect size, seating is great with good views from anywhere. There is not an over abundance of "traditional" parking, just a small lot with the majority of parking along the street very close by. There is a concession space for cocktails, drinks and such inside. The staff is friendly and helpful. Take some time off the beaten path and go check out Peoria Center for Performing Arts. I'm glad I found this venue. Recommended.

The performance was awesome and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Everything was great - from the actors, to the music, to the production. This is not the first time we've seen a performance here and every time we have we have never been disappointed. They do a great job and I hope to be able to attend many more productions!

Seating is great, it's easy to see and hear from anywhere. Temps are just right though I carried a light sweater. Lots of free parking and just off the 101. These are entertaining productions put on by serious, professional theater people. You can check the schedule in advance for the dates, they're usually posted a few months in advance. Although the performances are free, I'd encourage you to put a donation in the box that's in the lobby or mail in a check so that you can get a tax deduction. SCC is the only community college in AZ that offers free performances to the public. Last night's performance of You're a Good Man Charlie Brown was outstanding! Energetic acting, great singing, and cute costumes. I especially liked Sara Matin's performance as Snoopy. The only reason I gave the event/venue a 4 and not a 5 is that the theater is usually oppressively cold; so cold it's hard to concentrate on the show. I've attended four performances. There was a large crowd there last night, so that might have made the temperature more bearable. Highly recommended! Some shows are family friendly, some are for adults only but you'll be able to figure that out in advance.
