These people are completely incompetent and inept. I got an auto loan through them in July and MADE SURE to set up automatic payments because I travel and it's goddamn 2019. Since then, they have played the fools and refused to process my payments in a timely manner, settling to send my co-signer letters claiming my payment is past due. Note, I don't even get a message from my bank or even from them saying payment was rejected or even attempted. I have the money in my checking account, ready to pay. But no, these ignoramuses insist on not doing their jobs and processing payment. They also like to pretend I don't have auto insurance even though I called to make goddamn sure they had that information. Not to mention I have told them over and over to contact ME directly, not my co-signer. But as is their pattern, they play dumb and do nothing of the kind. 0/10. While this is one of the smaller credit unions their loan rates are fantastic. Even for those with an average credit score, their rates are what most people with excellent credit scores receive. Their rates have been so good, I've used them for my last few vehicle purchases. Even when I allow the Dealerships to try and shop around for the best rate, they've yet to beat Space Age FCU's rates (Not including any automotive manufacturer type special zero interest rate loans or special promotions) Also when I went to pay off my vehicle loan, I was able to receive my Title the vary same day and visit. It was a very easy transaction. As I mentioned they are one of the smaller CUs so sometimes getting a hold of someone by phone may require you to leave a message but they do get back to you. But they are very easy going because they are small and still use alot of people to get the work done. As an example, when I first got my loan, my first payment was due on a certain date. I didn't receive any paperwork as the due date approached. I called and their was some issues for them to work with the dealership. They were good about telling me that they'd send me a new due date when the paperwork was resolved and not to worry. Very cool. Their website is a bit antiquated but it gets the job done. My whole family have been members since 1994. It's like a family and they always take care of us. We have done countless car loans with them, great rates and promos. My atm cards works everywhere and many places like Costco and many airports such as DIA, I don't have to pay any fees. When I was in Japan and Laos, and had to take cash out, it was also free (not sure how or why, but there was no fees! But we figured even if there's a few, it would be cheaper than the money exchange places). When I used my Chase atm at a non Chase atm, I'd get charge from the 3rd party bank and also Chase! It feels like you're still working with human at a credit union vs. the big banks. read more

Do not let these incompetents handle your finances. Ever. Financed a vehicle through them at the dealership in mid-April. They seemed like a good idea because, when armed with an account number, I could make payments through my local credit union. Mid-May, my first payment came due. But I did not have an account number, or any other paperwork from Space Age whatsoever. I called to ask where it was and the helpful representative told me that to avoid a late fee she'd take a payment over the phone... for a ten dollar fee. My paperwork with my account number arrived, postmarked THREE DAYS AFTER the first payment was due. The helpful representative explained that this was because the dealership had not sent my information in time. This makes no sense, and a quick call to the dealership confirmed that a) Space Age had my paperwork two days after I signed at the dealership, and b) Space Age couldn't have generated a due date without the paperwork. In early June, I paid off the loan completely. In early July, I called and asked after the title. They said it had not reached them yet, sometimes it takes weeks, but assured me they'd send it to me as soon as they got it. August 1st, I called and asked after the title. The helpful representative said they'd "only received it on June 16th" and she'd send it along shortly. After clarifying she did not mean July 16th, I asked to speak with a manager. I got Tim, who was only interested in blaming everything on the dealership. The title was delayed because the dealer didn't send it. The paperwork was delayed because the dealer didn't send it. He promised to send it express so it would arrive on Monday. It arrived via regular post on Wednesday. He left me a voice mail, again explaining that the title had been in the possession of the dealer and it was the dealership's fault. Only the title had a print date on it, and a little research shows that the state mails lien titles to the lienholder within a day of the print date. And that title shows Space Age as the lienholder, and has a print date of 10 June. So the original representative's statement "we've had it since June 16" holds water. AND finally, when I got to the DMV to trade that title for mine... surprise! They'd not filled out the release of lien on the back. No title for me. I had to phone them and get their title person to Fax a release letter before I could complete my business. This means, at EVERY STEP OF THE PROCESS, they were just sitting around doing nothing until the moment I called them and said "do your job." Every single step. The paperwork, the billing, sending the title, and sending the release of lien. On every single step, had I not called, it seems clear they'd have just let unfinished paperwork sit on their desks. And rather than own up to a single problem, they lied and tried to lay blame on the dealership. My serious recommendation is to avoid doing business with these yoyos at ANY cost, even if it means shopping elsewhere for a vehicle. This level of non-professionalism doesn't even belong in a coffee shop, let alone a bank. read more

If there was an option for zero or negative stars, I'd give it to them. I've financed a vehicle through them and like others have stated, never received a statement, or balance or anything. I have never missed a payment in my life, usually sending my payments in early. I received a letter from them stating I was late and after contacting them to confirm, would not void the late fee. The lady I was supposed to contact never called me back. I stayed on hold for 30 min with their customer service line, just for them to tell me I needed to contact collections. DO NOT go through them if you can help it!! read more

It has been my recent experience that the management at Space Age FCU doesn't care about customer service. I have been a Space Age FCU member for thirteen years. My family has had two auto loans during that time. We also have two saving accounts and four checking accounts. My call to John Uchida the CEO to report a very upsetting encounter wasn't returned for fifteen days. I called to inform him of a very disturbing experience with the Golden branch manager Janice Vondra. Janice was disrespectful to her employees and extremely rude to me. When I did speak with John, he said that he would get back to me. It has been eighteen days and I haven't heard from him. It's very concerning when a branch manager runs member business out the door, treats employees disrespectfully and is overlooked by the CEO. read more

I've been with SAFCU ever since I started working for the government --- they had a branch located in our building at the old Lowry base. I moved to California last year, and they are still my credit union. They helped me with fraudulent purchases as well. Someone had apparently used my information somewhere in Florida (I've never been to Florida) and racked up a large some at the local Walmart there. The purchases were automatically declined, I was contacted by a 1-800 number on a Friday night. Nothing was taken out and they instructed me on what to do during the next business day. They've been good to me over the years. One less star because it was really difficult to get in touch with someone from the Loan department. Sometimes went weeks without a contact with the agent who was working on a loan, which eventually fell through. OH well, still a good credit union --- keeps my money safe. read more

I opened an account here because it was close to my work and it's definitely been the absolute worst financial institution I've dealt with. I have had my account for about 2 month and I'm already closing it and moving towards online banking. Even having a physical location right next to my work, online banking is more convenient. Lol. I don't even know how they're still in business. They have denied charges on multiple occasions when I had plenty of funds available. You cannot link the account with anything. They freeze your account in the evenings, in particular for me, New Years Eve and then inconveniently closes shop for two days so I was literally without my money for that time frame and had to subsequently rely on my friends to get around. How embarrassing! In the two months my account had been with them they have frozen it 5 times when I had plenty of funds available (or not available because of them) For sure a 1 star rating, DO NOT BANK WITH THIS HORRIBLE PLACE; you'll regret your decision. read more

Absolutely the WORST bank I have ever dealt with. Staff is unfriendly, unkempt, unprofessional and incompetent. Paid off a loan and was not even given a receipt. Filled out paper work to have addressed changed and was never processed. Took 4 request from 4 different tellers to process my address change. Hours are terrible (not open on saturday), cannot make online payments of loans unless you have a checking account with them. I wish Faye Meyer would find a better lender. I deposited the cashiers check to pay off my loan. They decided to hold my check for more than one week. I can not understand why they hold the check and still charge me the interest. UPDATE: After an angry phone call from my husband, and a few hours of waiting for them to go through their files, Space Age finally agreed to wire us the money they owed from double charging this month and the previous month. The money was in our account by the end of the day. Glad we have our money, but what a horrible hassle. We will sitll be looking to re-finance elsewhere and are crossing our fingers that we can do so before another month goes by and they have the opportunity to double charge us again. read more

I am sorry to hear about the problems these three family's have had. I have been a member of Space Age since about 1983 and have had several loans with them in the early days without any problems I can remember. I have had mostly good service from them, even though we have moved to other places (still with ties to Colorado). Also, in one case they were very helpful in speedily handling a large (for us) transaction of funds. We had to close on selling a house in the morning, and close on buying a house in the afternoon. We needed the funds from the morning closing as down payment for the afternoon closing. Last minute, the buyers on the morning closing changed the date, so we had to scramble and get funds from my wife's IRA for the down payment. We had to go to the Space Age manager, but they waived the clearing of the IRA funds check so we could have the funds available for the down payment on the afternoon closing. I have even discussed an issue of a process within the credit union with the President of the credit union and he was very nice and helpful. I hope the problems stated in other posts were resolved and are not indicative of problems with new employees as others (that I dealt with) have retired. But I have kept my association with Space Age because as I have moved away some of the time I can still access my account from other states through shared branching. I have always thought it was useful to be a member of a credit union, especially if I was seeking a loan from them. Overall I have to give them good marks from my association with them. Otherwise, I would not have stayed with them for almost 30 years. It never hurts to calmly and non-confrontationaly escalate your problem to a higher level to try to resolve an issue. This is a friendly little bank. Very personable staff. They use a system called share branching which is a network that my bank uses. So I am now able to go into Space Age and make deposits and withdrawals through them for my bank in Chicago. read more

DO NOT do any business with Space Age Federal Credit Union.....this is the worst, uncivil institution I have ever dealt with. They forced placed insurance on our account when we had full coverage insurance with their required deductible (before we even got the loan). We kept paying our minimum monthly amount waiting for these amateurs to credit our account back and the hit my credit for 59 points saying I was 60 days late for not paying their forced insurance of $97 a month. They forced this on two of our other accounts, only one has been corrected. Barbra is the most unprofessional associate in the world of business. She is very rude and has even talked down to my wife. We are currently seeking legal counsel after 9 months all the right documentation and they still have not corrected our accounts. I used to be proud to be to be a member of SAFCU. My family had been members for decades and I signed on in line. The checking/savings was unbeatable and you got awesome rates on loans. But then the credit unions saw all the Big Banks getting rich off of the fees and they jumped in head first. Space Age gives no graces and offers no leniency. There can be money in your savings and if you go over on checking just a few cents they tack on their over-draft fee. They get very nasty about claiming their ill charges and have no qualms about threatening to close you down. The worst bank or credit union you could ever deal with. Stay away! I had purchased a motorcycle with a loan through Space Age. I paid all of the fees for title work. 6 months later when I decided to sell the bike the credit union had not done anyone the paperwork so the bike was not in my name. I was going to have to bond for a title due to them and their lack of work. Luckily I found the old seller. It took months to finally get the bike in my name and I was never reimbursed for fees I paid or payments I made on a bike that wasn't even in my name. And remember I couldn't register it this whole time either. I also have a car loan through them and with this issue I checked it closer. They are charging me a $30 a month fee on my loan and none of the bankers or lending officers know why. However none of them will call me back or take care of the issue. .... This is the absolute worst financing experience I have EVER had. My husband and I financed a car loan with them in 2015. We got the 90 days to first payment promotion which I thought was wonderful so that I could save some money for the registration fees. We then opened another loan shortly after that and while I was in the office to sign some paperwork, I asked them when I would receive my payment booklet. She then told me that my payment was past due. when I said that my payment wasn't due for another month, she said "well we could have you sign this 90 days promotion paperwork and we'll amend your contract". I made her look up the contract I signed showing when my 1st payment was due and she couldn't believe the TWO people who had reviewed my loan docs had missed that. After that was corrected, I still didn't receive a payment booklet until after my payment was due so I had to make a trip into the office to pay it before I got a late charge. Thankfully the credit union where I have my checking account has a payment service to other institutions otherwise I would have to either send a check or go into the office every month since I can't set up automatic payments unless I have a checking account with Space Age. Recently, we went back to get a heloc for debt consolidation. My husband and I have excellent credit, a good debt to income ratio and have never missed a payment on anything. Richard said he "didn't feel good about this loan" and told us to go to debt counseling. That was absolutely insulting. We emailed the president about the situation and didn't even get a response. Then he decided to decline the loan due to too many recent opened credit lines. ok... we refinanced our house and got a small credit card that had no balance all in the space of a year. that doesn't seem excessive to me, but what do I know. so we decided to go to another credit union. we were approved within hours of applying. we are going to refinance all of our loans and close all of our accounts with this credit union as soon as we are able to.
