That's the feeling I had when I walked in to this Tesco. Perth is a pretty small town, not too much going on after dark, Scone Palace (amazing place, please visit!!) and a few hotels for passing through visitors. So, when we were out one night and wanting some snacks for the hotel, it was amazing to find Tesco and be reminded of the comforts of our city life. Sounds silly, I know, but it was great. This Tesco was pretty much set up the way they are all over the place, you walk in and instantly are greeted by the to go items like sandwiches, snacks, crisps and drinks. There's a great fruit and veg section just beyond and then the usual aisles of great items to purchase. We were able to buy our snacks at reasonable prices and head out happy with our purchases.

The staff are friendly enough but seem to have less of a clue as to the location of products than the customers. The staff members are actually nice in this one.They don't have a bakers but the selection of food and drink is ok.They have all the basics such as bread,milk etc.Like other David sands the prices are a little higher here than other places but the shops are in easy to reach places.They think 25 in these shops so if you are lucky enough to look under 25 make sure you have id with you.

It's probably for the best that I didn't spent too long in the shop; that would have been dangerous. So whilst it was a fleeting, giddy visit, there's already a place in my heart for Highland Health. There were all kinds of healthy goodies I'd never come across before, and it was all reasonably priced. I was expecting to have to pay quite a bit for the raw cacao powder but that wasn't the case at all. The lovely lady who worked there sent me in the right direction and, when I asked, explained that there was no real difference in the quality of the two brands they offered, other than the fact that the one that was a little more expensive was in a tin rather than a packet. They were both the same quantity so I opted for the packet at £3.99. I appreciated the honesty and the resealable packet was fine by me. Although it's a small shop, the shelves are packed and brimming with all kinds of things to get any healthy foodie excited. I left happy with my purchases, and looking forward to my next Highland Health fix. I didn't visit their natural remedy store across the road this time round, but if you're a fan of this shop, then it'd certainly be worth popping across for.

From gluten free breads, to organic products, Highland Health store, is a mecca for those looking for those difficult to source products. Every time I visit, its like walking into an air of calm. Everything seems healthy or good for you, even down the more seductive chocolate delights. The staff are welcoming, always ready to help with any query. My favourite has to be Smoked Tofu,lovely added to a stir fry.

They're the best wine and whisky specialists in town. They have friendly staff who are very knowledgeable about their products. There have been a few times I've been here shopping for whisky for friends before visiting the states. My friends will let me know what they like in a whisky, I pass the info onto the staff at the shop, and get a choice that's spot-on for my friends. And that's after getting to sample one or two ;) One of the best things about the place is that they occasionally do free tastings. Some of the past ones I've had the privilege of going to were Innis and Gunn, Eden Brewery, Torres wines and most recently Mission Estate from New Zealand. On top of getting an educational experience of the making of such drinks, you get numerous samples and even a 10% discount on anything in the shop on the night. Get on their email list and you'll be kept in the loop for the tastings.
