Obviously the prices aren't brilliant and you'd get much better value for your money at the larger chains but it's still a nice atmosphere to do a bit of grocery shopping in. Being at the heart of the Saffron Lane estate, everybody knows each other and you're always greeted with a friendly smile and chat when you're shopping. The shop is a lot cleaner than it used to be and has really branched out selling magazines and a lot more frozen products than it used to. The only downside is that they have no trollies if you're intending to do a larger shop and I always notice that the bread seems a bit battered everytime I go in. They do however have the most amazing fresh pasties at their fresh produce counter.

As you'd expect this place has everything you could possibly need, including a cafe and also as per expectations it is as faceless and commercial as Madonna drinking Coca Cola wearing a Primark top. If at all possible, divert your course and see if you can get enough fresh veg to feed your family from the market instead - but most of the time I can't because stores like this have killed local business and I too must shop there. Go about 8pm-9pm weekdays for the best reduced bargains. Stick it to the man!

The Sainsburys in Loughborough is fairly big. Well for one…read morethey sell everything you could want from a supermarket. But by anything you would want from a supermarket im talking about food so unlike Tescos they dont have a wide variety of CDs, DVDs, Games etc. They dont have much of a clothing line, just mainly back to school clothing. Overall i prefer Sainsbury foods compared to other places, the offers are equally as good as other stores and also equally expensive. The Sainsburys in Loughborough also has a cafe and a pharmacy. There are a good number of tills so you're never waiting too long to be served and there is self checkout which i think is awesome.

AND it's part of Wal-Mart! When my foot is better and I can walk further I shall go to the shops on Melton Road or The Avenue - there are a few left! xx
