I have been in a couple of times when I have been in Harborne. The chap who works there or who owns it seems really friendly and chatty. Several times he has made small talk with me, which is nice as it makes me want to pop back in here. I have always found what I needed in here, which is usually just some chocolate and something like milk to take back home. The prices are fairly reasonable for a convenience store and I have been to more expensive stores in the area. Overall, I like this store because the service is great and it has been convenient for me.

Open from early morning until at least 10pm every night this isn't somewhere you'd travel miles to visit but if you live nearby it's a great place to purchase things like compost or barbeque briquettes. They are also notable for stocking a good range of real-ales, an extensive selection of doggie treats (which get the seal of approval from Dave the greyhound) and the man who runs it is a really nice chap who often compliments us on how well Dave is looking and very much lives by the adage 'the show must go on'. Not only does the shop stay open at Christmas and New Year but perhaps most memorably of all through a recent power cut where thanks to a torch-lit fetching service the people of Northfield Road were able to continue to make their essential purchases of booze, fags and Monster Munch.

Everything a corner shop could need, plus alcohol…read more If you're an avid reader of my reviews, you will recall an Italian Bistro I used to work at which used to send me out for pizza because it was on the menu but we didn't cook it. The same bistro used to send me running out to the 10 til 10 to get Amaretto for the occasional late night regular who'd prop up the bar and regale us all with the week's gossip. So it has always been the place for me where you can get emergency alcohol. And there's a decent selection. I do miss the way it used to be with a wooden frame separating you from the drink and grubby windows which students and tramps alike pressed their noses against whilst picking their drink of choice. These days they're a lot more trusting and let you get the majority of stuff yourself, but then they've obviously come under new management too, if the gaudy new shop sign is anything to go by. I have before and after pictures for comparison...
10 til 10 is a small convenience market that is actually open from 9am to whenever they feel like…read moreshutting, which is sometimes as late as 2 or 3 in the morning. I guess by lowering the expectations about when the shop was going to actually be open they expected that people walking past at midnight would be pleasantly surprised and would venture in and but Snack-a-Jacks and Blossom Hill rose aplenty. This is a particular gem if you have a friend, or indeed if you are a friend, who lives around the area. In which case a few six packs of export strength lager and a bag of minstrels procured at just-above-supermarket prices mean that the party can keep on going long after the last orders at the Pilgrim has been rung. Oh hells yeah.

Spar in Tremadog is a really useful shop. It has a good range of food, drink, alcohol and groceries…read moreas well as ready to eat snacks. There is a freezer so you can get stuff to keep, and ice cream. They have a cash machine, and a DVD lending club. The staff are usually very helpful. As an American I had a great time looking at different foods that we don't have in the USA, so I snapped a couple of photos of the frozen food products that made me giggle the most. I suppose that to the locals my fascination with the products would be silly, but I had a great time checking out all of their items. If you live in or around this area there are other grocery stores that are actually much larger nearby, but I still loved this little one right in town the best!

The store itself is of a good size, has a wide range of groceries, some are well known brands others are not english brands, and can take some working out, glad there are pictures on the products. The store has a fiar size fruit and veg section which is very good in price and certainly knocks spots off the competatiors. One negative I found was lack of staff on the shop floor as I came across a few items that were not priced and did not want to wait to the till point before asking. The staff at the till are friendly and helpful.

Always a good full selection of fruit & vegetables, salad & stuff. Laid out well, easy to get reach, easy labelling to check prices. Fantastic butchering services, if it's not out on the shelf they will do it for you. Boning a shoulder of lamb for instance, not a problem for them. Tesco don't do this. Good value deli, not a spectacular choice but good enough. Love the salad bar & fresh bread. Usually plenty of cashiers on, who will help you pack if you ask. Watch out for the AA/RAC reps on the way out. Just cover your ears and run past, mumbling "no thank you". My only gripe is the lack of price reduction on items that are approaching the sellby date. For example: Brisket joint £6, reduced by 30p to £5.70. Same joint at the end of the day now reduced by another 70p down to £5. Then it's chucked out. Come on Morrisons, it costs you money to have this stuff taken away. Just reduce those items more and they will shift off the shelf.
