We used Sparta movers the first weekend of February, 2018. Our previous move a year earlier had left much to be desired both in service and price point. The company had dented my very favorite piece of furniture and then didn't respond to phone calls or emails to submit a claim and charged us through the nose with hidden fees for the move itself (and being that we hadn't used movers before, we didn't realize it wasn't always so straight forward). The day of our move we had a massive dump of snow. I mean massive. As such, the movers were late (by no fault of their own) by quite some time. But they continuously shoveled my walkway and worked swiftly to load up our boxes and furniture into the truck. They did the same when we arrived at our new home. Our furnture was well taken care of, they were friendly and upbeat despite the terrible cold and snow, and worked as quickly as they could. Had we not had such inclement weather, the quote would have been honored. And even with the extra couple hours of work due to the commute and issues at our condo building with the elevator, they still charged us less than our previous movers had. My only complaint is that they didn't use runners in the old house (we had a hall rug in our new place so that wasn't as necessary) but we had to clean it anyway. All in all, it wasn't a huge mess or inconvenience, and I'm sure they can be requested. Our friends highly recommended Sparta Movers. We followed their advice and booked Sparta Movers last month to move our family of 5 from Canmore to Calgary. Thet did an amazing job! Exceeded all our expectations. First we got on the phone with Slava (manager) who completed a survey over a video call. We walked him around our house in Canmore. An hour later he sent a detailed service estimate via email. A month later, a packing crew arrived and boxed our entire house. A crew of 4 pleasant ladies packed around 130 boxes total in a single day (!). Can't believe how much staff was hidden inside our 2,300 sqft home. On the following day, a moving crew from Sparta arrived on time and hustled all the way till a last item was brought from the truck to our new home in Calgary and the beds were put together. Final bill came under the estimate. Which was a bonus! We fed both packers and movers, plus we tipped them well! These guys went above and beyond our expectations and deserve all the stars! We strongly recommend Sparta Movers to anyone looking for packing, storage and moving services in Calgary! Very friendly and prompt office staff clearly communicated all the steps of the process and answered all the questions we had in a timely manner. They sent an estimator to our home to do a walk around and then provided an accurate quotation for packing + moving + storage. We received notifications prior to packers and then movers arrival. Sparta is partnering with major storage facilities in Calgary and offer great discounted rates on storage services! We ended up storing our 4 bedroom house contents in two 10x20 ft storage units. Units on the upper floors are slightly cheaper but then you pay movers time, so we decided to pay a little more and got ground level storage units, provided that we will need to move out in about 3-5 months. It was a long and a pretty hard day for everyone! It took 10 hours for 4 guys from Sparta Movers to complete to move our 3000 sqft fully furnished house in Okotoks. This was exactly what Sparta estimator quoted the move would take. Sparta Movers exceeded our expectations in all categories. Maria on the phone was very helpful booking our move, all terms and conditions were clearly explained via phone and email. On the moving day, the guys arrived a little earlier than scheduled and full of positive attitude, which they carried well throughout the day. Everyone worked hard and looked very involved and professional. They used dollies to carry boxes, lots of thick blankets were used to wrap all our expensive furniture. All mattresses were put in plastic bags to keep clean. We bought them pizza for lunch and gave them well deserved tips at the end of the move. No damages! 5-star! Moved to a different apartment in the same building. We downgraded from a 2 bedroom to a 1 bedroom. I won't get into specifics as to why we moved, however, I will say that it was under rather unfortunate circumstances. I have used Sparta Movers once before and was extremely satisfied. This time around the crew of Dmytro, Lewis and Artur did a 5 star job! Not once did the crew gripe and moan about this or that. There was a very positive energy overall and we almost turned it into a comedy show. Nothing was broken and everything was placed where we requested. On time and on budget was the motto of the day. I was even inspired to help out and knock out some of the tasks. Would I recommend Sparta? Of course! We were moved into our new apartment in 3.5 hours, which came in within budget from our complex. the experience was wonderful, i would recommend them to anyone. I had a call from the movers the day of the move, letting me know everything is under way, told me exactly when they would arrive. The drivers wasted no time and got their truck into position very quickly with their staff, you can tell they have been doing this for a long time. i had three guys move me for just about the entire day, it was amazing how much they stayed in good spirits and how hard they worked throughout. everything was taken care of, they all communicated very well throughout the workday to make sure i was aware of everything happening to my possessions. After they loaded the truck they even showed it to me to make sure i was comfortable with their packing job! This was so much more than i expected, nothing was damaged. It's hard to write a positive review if you're giving 5 stars because others may think there must be some ulterior motive. But we used Sparta and they were great. Actually we had 3 hard working fellows who would happily pause holding huge loads and ask where we would like them placed. You'd think they were moving giant Faberge eggs they were so careful. Nothing got scratched dropped dented or anything. The guys never took a break and actually finished ahead of schedule and I paid less than the estimate. I recommended them to family who were equally pleased with the service. Having previously experienced a bad move this was a happy change. We will look forward to using them again. I was a pain-in-the-butt customer. I know that. I asked for quotes from 10 different companies to move a very specific list of items. The quotes I got back varied wildly, some doubling others. I picked 3 companies who had better responses than the others (not necessarily cheaper, but seemingly more interested in winning my business) and continued pressing for more accurate quotes. I found that Sparta went above and beyond to earn my business and I was satisfied with the final quote. The actual move was like clock-work, even finishing earlier and further reducing the costs of the service. The guys were super friendly, hard working and careful, and even moved a couple of items that unexpectedly came up without even a hint of complaint. A great experience overall. Excellent! There are no other words to describe their manner and conduct. We Had an awful experience with our previous movers (not sparta) and so we were hesitant to do it again. But Slava (I think he's the owner) came to our home to give us a quote, took the time to explain the process, what to expect, and how to prepare. This in my opinion was above and beyond. They sent reminders to us to confirm they were coming. We also had packing services and omg they finished an hour before expected with less material and thus we were billed for less than quoted! The Packers were professional and polite and the movers as much so! Polite, knowledgeable, and funny. I will be recommending them to our realtor. Ps. Oh my goodness! These movers are absolutely fabulous! I was very skeptical at first having never hired movers before, but these guys totally did a great job! We had the privilege of getting Artur and Talvir. They were so very respectful, personal, and helpful. They even took the time to answer our "silly" questions and put our minds at ease that they would do their best to help us. We were on a tight budget and man they hustled the entire time to get everything we owned in our new place in the time frame. Truly would recommend these people to anyone.
