When I got back from the trip, I went to see a podiatrist for my ankle issues. He recommended SportsMed in Clifton. The physical therapists are really good. Brian is one of the nicest physical therapists there. He knows his stuff. Dr Adams is really nice and had the therapists teach me to walk a bit differently. I was very pleased with this aspect of SportsMed. With that being said, the office staff (seems like the corporate office is in Glen Rock) needs to improve as to how they communicate with patients and when to do so. There was a check that went missing after one year. I was called during my working hours about this. The person wanted me to contact my insurance to get another check reissued. Although I was busy at work, I contacted the insurance company. I was on the phone for an hour with the insurance rep and a rep from SportsMed. The insurance rep said that they would reissue the check and it would take one month to do so. Three weeks later, I get a call from the SportsMed rep asking me why the check hasn't arrived. I told her that she was on the phone with me when the insurance rep stated that it would take one month. She said ok. I called the insurance company. They had told me that the check was still being processed and it would be mailed within the next week or two. It was sent to me the following week and I delivered it to SportsMed. After this issue was resolved, I get another call from the SportsMed office the following week during working hours. They had left a message to call them back, which sounded urgent. I was not happy with this since I had to leave my desk at a busy time. I went to a conference room and called them back. They called to check up on me and to promote their new location in Paterson. I was ticked off and told them that that they were calling me at the wrong time. I also mentioned that I was not interested in their Paterson location. SportsMed has really good physical therapists. However, the corporate office needs to improve upon their communication skills. They need to realize that their patients might be at work when they are calling. I would suggest that they send an email and/or text message stating briefly what the issue is and to tell the patient to call them at their earliest convenience. In case of a promotion of a new office, a simple email will do. As a result, I'm a bit iffy regarding returning if I ever need physical therapy again.

From the start, everything was so easy, the staff was so kind, and the therapists not only experts in what they do, but also empathetic. When I first called to book an appointment, their office manager took my insurance information, called them herself to verify my coverage, and then called me back to give me the rundown. I had my initial consult and evaluation with James, who walked me through his recommended treatment plan to address an old shoulder injury and diastasis recti. He's incredibly patient and knowledgeable and provided me with tips and tools outside of therapy, so I could continue down my fitness journey, without causing reinjury to my shoulder or exasperating my diastasis recti. Because of schedules, I alternated therapists and saw Paige, as well, who was equally as attentive and knowledgeable. I highly recommend James and Paige for your physical therapy needs.

What especially sets OPMR aside from other rehabilitation centers is that they are an integrated team of professionals including chiropractors, a pain management physician, physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, and an awesome administrative team. The medical / treatment staff is physician . Dr. Ruiz and Dr. Colon are both highly regarded and well liked by so many patients, as are some of the physical therapists and assistants, like Sheana and David, who are so motivating and upbeat. Together, they devise a treatment plan which is formulated and tailored specifically for you. My initial consultation with my physical therapist, Nicolai, was very thorough and informative. He devised a personal treatment plan which he explained in great detail, and was happy to address all of my concerns. I've been a patient at OPMR for other post-op treatment in years past, and my conditions always improved remarkably. That is due to the excellence of their physical therapists and many others on this team of great care providers. Everyone was positive, professional and genuine in their interest for the advancement of my healing. The last time I was treated at OPMR, I began to feel a noticeable improvement after one month. I also began feeling more positive and looked forward to more activities in my personal life. I have a minor pinched nerve in my lower back and I have gotten strong in my back and glutes that has eliminated any pain and tingling I have had. I have also had the added benefit of my muscles visibly gaining shape. All of the physical therapists are great. Amanda has been the therapist helping me and she challenges me without pushing me past my comfort zone. She is knowledgeable and continuously looking to make herself a better therapist for her patients. She is professional, but also makes the task of going the PT every week an enjoyable experience with her outgoing personality. The staff / coaches are super nice, encouraging and helping you get motivated for your exercises. The members there are equally as nice and encouraging, and without judgement regardless of your fitness level. Just overall a pleasant experience for getting and staying into shape. I have not used their Physical Therapy services yet, but if/when I do, I know I'll definitely come here given how knowledgeable and great their staff is. If you are into it they also have activities outside of the gym to do together such as running local race running, Spartan races and other various activities.

I was charged twice for my initial visit WITHOUT my knowledge or consent because the receptionist made a mistake and gave me the wrong time for my initial appointment. I did not know I'd been charged twice until looking at my credit card statement months later, and the doctor would not respond to any of my requests to have this fixed or speak to me. Essentially a scam to charge patient's twice. I know this was an underhanded tactic because I received an email notification the second time they charged my card (which I thought was the only time), but the first time (which they said they would not charge me for as it was a mistake on their end) I received no notification. The receptionist was rude and completely unhelpful. I've seen dozens of doctors across facilities and never been treated the way I was here, do yourself a favor and see a doctor with some compassion who treats patients like human beings, and is not a scam artist. This guy is a common thief.
