I won't go into the whole story, but lets just say that when my friend told me she wanted to be a dentist, I threatened to drive a Chevy Astro into her office. Needless to say, I was worried about going to see Dr. Martello for an exam. As it turns out, I shouldn't have been. Him and his staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. He took me through each x-ray and told me what we were looking at, which was a lot more informative than a "looks good" or "you have cavities". I was so relieved by the good experience that I called up my dentist friend and told her that for the first time in my life, I understood why she wanted to be a dentist - going to the right one can make such a difference. My only gripe is that we had a miscommunication. They told me you could get a cleaning (~$90) or a full exam ($320) which included a cleaning. Turns out, the full exam does not include a cleaning. They also offer an intermediate version, which is a cleaning and x-rays of just the molars (I think it's ~$130). I'll definitely be coming back! Pro-tip: Luckily they aren't so busy that you need to schedule you appointment months out. When I called, they got me in within two weeks!

Fast forward to several appointments later, he still doesn't have a definitive diagnosis, and insurance has finally denied payment for the appointment. Instead of sending any single bill, they allow months to go by until someone calls my husband and tells him he needs to set up a payment plan or be sent to collections. He drives to both locations to pay. Only to start receiving calls from their collections company 3 days later. The office claims they did not send his account to collections, but the collections notice we received today states otherwise. They refuse to admit what they did, or call us back when we've tried to ask questions. Unless you're 100% sure your insurance will cover all of what you're having done- don't risk it.

I had my wisdom teeth out in June after they had already begun erupting through my gums (I waited…read moretoo long). Dr. Lim came highly recommended. I had a negative experience both in terms of recovery and bedside manner. During most of my interactions with Dr. Lim, he seemed eager to get on with his day, was impatient, and did not give thorough answers to questions I had. I was particularly nervous for the surgery as I knew I should have gotten my wisdom teeth out earlier. Dr. Lim was dismissive of my concerns and brushed them off. Dr. Lim told me during our consultation I should expect a 1-3 day recovery time. In reality I was in agony for two weeks and the recovery time after that took 3 months. After my surgery I was given one generic fact sheet informing me how to care for my gums and otherwise very minimal instruction. I had many complications following my surgery and had to call multiple times to have my pain taken seriously. I went to an emergency dentist the weekend after my procedure in agony. The dentist was shocked by the insufficiency of the pain management plan Dr. Lim had put me on (Hydrocodone with no medication to tide me over between doses), and gave me a helpful, updated, detailed plan with a couple new medications. I called Crescent City Monday when it opened explaining I was in agonizing pain. I was told it was too soon after surgery to have dry socket and that pain is normal. I insisted I needed to be seen. I went in and they confirmed I did have dry socket. It was treated (the pain eased nearly immediately). I asked for instructions on how to minimize the chances of this happening again. I asked if I should avoid any food. I was told I could go back to eating and that there was nothing I could do other than not using a straw, etc.; dry socket often happens to women. Later that day I ate and immediately experienced agonizing pain. I called the office the next day and insisted I be seen again. I had dry socket again - the treatment had dislodged. Upon contacting the office and visiting in person, my interactions with Crescent City staff gave me the uncomfortable feeling I was merely a nuisance to them (one staff member was consistently kind). Again I was treated for dry socket and again the pain eased. I insisted on a plan to minimize my chances of dry socket happening for a third time. At this request, I was put on a liquid diet for a couple days. I asked for thorough instructions for how to clean the sockets. I got some funny looks for asking questions, but I was told to clean them for a few days and then stop cleaning them because they would start closing up. Days later, the sockets did not begin closing up, and food built up, causing pressure in my gums. I decided to stay on a liquid diet for a few extra days, and to continue cleaning the sockets for weeks (since the sockets would not heal). This helped with some discomfort. The recovery process took three months. At nearly every turn my pain was not taken seriously and I was treated as a nuisance for asking how to care for myself. I would certainly not recommend Crescent City Oral Surgery. I do have to wonder if mine was a difficult surgery that would not have been painful regardless of where I went - I don't know; I'm not an oral surgeon. What I do know is that the dismissal, disbelief, and rudeness of the staff and Dr. Lim exponentially increased my pain and could have been easily preventable.

At the moment I'm getting a crown in addition to a bridge to finish implants. These guys are the best. The quality of care is second to none. Dr Nguyen's bedside manner is excellent. He has a very calming demeanor which helps you to relax and feel comfortable. He explains in complete detail what he recommends and again before he does the work. The office is special. It's absolutely beautiful. The music is contemporary and a pleasure to listen to. Dr Nguyen occasionally sings along with the songs that he knows. Every one of the staff is really happy people and it makes the atmosphere a real positive place and a great patient experience.

Had been knowing Frost for years, and he'd done x2 crowns previously and had stated I needed x2…read moremore. By accident one day, I had chipped a tooth, he diagnosed that I needed a Root Canal. Unfortunately, I did NOT do my research on the matter because of foolish trust in this individual. The research would have shown that there are "Specialists" for Root Canals due to it literally being oral surgery, and the delicate nature of it. So, foolishly I let Frost do the procedure, it didn't go well; I was in pain/discomfort, every day, for the two weeks prior to getting the Crown. The pain/discomfort continued everyday. Frost wanted to go back in, and the way he explained how/why my procedure didn't go well was "...it happens." His whole demeanor was defensive, which alarmed me & made me finally do my research. Later, I found a Endodontist (specialist), and contacted Frost's office to kindly send "MY" X-rays (that I paid $200-300 for) to the specialist. Well, they sent a portion of the X-rays--of my other teeth, but not of the ones needed. This was done purposefully, OR, his office is incompetent & do not understand English. After the Endodontist corrected the issue, my new dentist did NOT find I need for the so-called "crowns" that Frost said I needed. Further research showed that other patients had similar issues with Frost: stating the need for procedures that other dentists did NOT find, and "doing" procedures above & beyond his expertise. Conclusion: Frost is GREEDY & UNPROFESSIONAL (literally lying & doing procedures NOT needed), & by not supplying MY paid-for X-rays, he shows his PETTINESS and lack of professional courtesy. BEWARE of FROST dental---it will co$t you financially & physically. He should be investigated.
