I'm so pissed off. The receptionist who answered the phone is soooo rude and disrespectful. I called this morning because Dr Anderson did my filling (not even a year later) and that tooth has had sensitivity when I drink or use mouth wash. Well last night I flossed like I always do and the filling came out. Now that side of my mouth hurts and I tell that to the receptionist and she said he won't be available til Monday. I ask will it be covered and she said since they have to do it over I would have to pay again. I explained to her about the sensitivity, and how I have other fillings from other dentist & it never fell, this isn't on me so why would I have to pay again. I have come here multiple visits and the staff is always super friendly and nice. I've gotten deep dental work done and since then only topical cleanings. Even after I got kicked off my dads insurance, the cleaning was only around $100. Jenny was my dental tech, and she did not only a great job but was a pleasure to talk to. I received an email confirming my appointment yesterday and no where in that email did it say please call to confirm your appointment. I had to make accommodations for me to miss the second half of my shift only to find my appointment had been canceled when I arrived only to have the receptionist make it seem like it was my fault because I didn't confirm was in poor taste. I have enjoyed the few cleanings that I did receive, but I will be seeking services elsewhere.. I signed in at the upstairs office (where I have gone for at least five years) at 7:50 a.m. and took a seat in the waiting room. There was NO desk staff present at either the downstairs or the upstairs desk. At 8:20, the office called me wanting to know why I was late. If you book an appointment for 8 a.m., that means someone should be there at 8. You are wasting the time of your patients with no regard for their schedules. Will not be coming back. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! I scheduled an appointment with them over 2 months ago. I provided them with my insurance information and they sent me a confirmation email. A week before the appointment I contacted them and to my surprise I'm told I don't have an appointment. Later in the day they text me confirming my appointment and to provide them with my insurance information again. They texted back letting me know that they confused me with another customer and that I still don't have an appointment. TLDR; I went to this dentist for a long time and just had a series of terrible appointments and I'll be finding a new dentist. I've been going to Mid-City Smiles for about 6 years and I've been happy with my service. It's mostly been cleaning with one crown needing to be replaced about 5 years ago. All of that service was good. My recent experience has been truly awful. I lost a crown a few weeks ago and was left with a jagged piece of tooth sticking out of my gum. When I called to get an appointment the staff was dismissive and rude when I explained that I could not wait a full week for an appointment. Eventually, they found a time for me 3 business days after I called. At that appointment, I was given a temporary filling and told that I would need to come back to see a different dentist 10 days later. When I came back for that appointment, I waited for almost and hour to even go back to an exam room and then waited a while longer to be seen by Dr. Anderson. When I initially went back they clearly had no notes on why I was there and asked if I was seeking a second opinion. When I was eventually seen, Dr. Anderson did some work and informed me that if I had 45-60 minutes that they could make me a new crown and I could be totally done today. I agreed. I came to this appointment prepared for it to take 2 or 3 hours (fully charged kindle, iPad, and phone) and it's been over 2 hours at this point. I sit for over 90 minutes before someone informs me that the machine making the crown has malfunctioned, but it was almost done. I wait for at least 30 more minutes and I am now the last patient in the building. I am starving because it's been over 4 hours at this point and I have missed lunch. I'm in tears with hunger and frustration. Eventually the crown is done, but it doesn't fit. Dr. Anderson decides to put it in with temporary cement and says I can come back in for a really quick appointment to get a permanent one. I don't really have a choice so I agree to this. I leave, having spent 5 hours at the office with limited communication and lukewarm apologies for the situation. The crown comes out 3 hours later. I assume that being aware of the terrible appointment I've had, they'll go out of their way to make sure my crown appointment is quick and smooth. I was wrong. I'm in the waiting room for 45 minutes. Once I get in an exam room Dr. Anderson asks me to bite on a cotton roll with the crown in place to get my gum line back down and avoid anesthesia. I'm left this way for over 20 minutes, and eventually choose to sit up sideways in my chair because I had been left with my head below my feet. Finally Dr. Anderson cements in my crown and I am, after 2 hours, the last patient to leave the building again. As the cherry on top, I'm told that it will cost more than I was quoted and that I should call my insurance to find out why. I think after the nightmare experience I had, they could at least take care of calling my insurance. Lots of people have a great experience at Mid-City Smiles but I am so done than even though I'm moving away later this year, I'll be finding a new dentist for my last cleaning in town. read more

We brought our granddaughter in for braces about 7-8 months ago. We moved recently (1 week ago) to Florida and asked for a referral and asked to settle our account. We do not have insurance and make monthly payments. I have called numerous times, and spoken to the office manager and she keeps promising to call me back and never does. Our monthly payment is charged to our credit card the 1st of every month. She told me last time that she is waiting (it's been 2 weeks since my initial contact with them) to hear from the 'accountant' to settle our account. I got a filling here about four years ago. Thought everything was all good. Then I moved and switched dentists and learned the filling they gave me didn't actually fill my cavity and so my tooth has just been rotting away all this time. My new dentist looked at xrays from four years ago AND from today and could clearly see the decay was not properly filled the first time around. It looked like they only did about half the filling. The Invisalign process has taken several months longer than I was initially quoted. My refinement aligners didn't fit right, but they blew me off about it. Then 5 weeks into them, and they said they needed to rescan me. Now I've been waiting for the replacements for almost 3 weeks and nobody will give me a real eta or return my calls. This was very expensive so getting blown off is a bummer. It was supposed to be a 15 week treatment and I'm closing in on 26 weeks with at least 7 more. PS. I've been going to Dr. Anderson and the team at Mid-City Smiles for about 10 years. They're easy to find in Midcity and have parking in the back, which is a plus! The office is well appointed with local art and WWOZ playing in the radio. The exam rooms are spotless and I always get into my appointments quickly. My favorite part is that they send reminder texts about appointments. Since they're a busy office, it's often difficult to get an appointment rescheduled, so, the reminders help in making sure I get there! My husband also goes here and recently had to have a broken crown fixed on a weekend. It was a breeze! I wanted to really get a feel for this office before I wrote a review. I admit, I get extremely nervous when I go to the dentist, but I felt very much at ease here. I came because of so many great reviews, and I'm so glad I did. As long as I am in New Orleans, this will be my dentist's office. You're immediately greeted as you arrive and check in. Because this place is so busy, unless you are going for your first visit, I wouldn't make a big effort to be super early. On your first visit, there is paperwork to complete. Once called in, you're taken to a station, seated, and we did x-rays my first time. My hygienist was extremely nice, there was really good music playing, so I was at ease. The cleaning was quick, and then Dr. Anderson came in to take a look. So friendly, went over my x-rays with me to tell me what I might need moving forward, and even touched up a couple of spots. We planned future appointments, and when I asked about the possibility of Invisalign for me, Dr. Anderson gave me immediate feedback and provided notes to the front desk for a quote. They itemized how much would be due and at what appointment, and the plan for the process is 6-8 months faster than what I was expecting. This place is constantly busy, which might feel intimidating, but I really think it is because they get such a high demand. I did have to book two months ahead for the dates I wanted, but they can still squeeze you in if there is something serious going on. I see this place has several good reviews, unfortunately, this is not one of them. I would NOT refer anyone to DR. MARIN! He has no integrity, he is a liar and takes advantage of senior citizens. My 86 year old mother is mentally sharp enough to know that she wanted the gold crown from the TOOTH NEXT TO ONE OF HER FRONT TEETH on her old, broken dentures placed on the SAME SIDE TOOTH on the new dentures made by this office. When she got the new dentures, the crown was placed on the FRONT tooth. When she took the dentures back to have this corrected, she insisted she made it clear the gold crown should go on the SIDE tooth. DR MARIN LIED AND SAID SHE TOLD HIM IT WAS ON HER FRONT TOOTH AND SAID SHE SIGNED SOMETHING SAYING SO...LIES!! She told him she DID NOT say that, but he was now trying to cover his a**!! He said the lab may not be able to correct it but could put a white tooth there - but she wanted her gold crown placed correctly where she had asked it be placed. Even though he pulls out a dental tool and so call measures the tooth, it looks obviouly like a side tooth, but Marin says the crown is causing that...LIES!! He said he would see if the lab could correct that. We knew that he was full of s***. They probably never even sent the dentures back to the lab. When she went back to get the so-called corrected dentures, he did not even give her the respect of coming in the room to discuss anything with her. In conclusion, Dr. Marin is not a man of integrity and is probably a phony suck up with certain patients but treats others like crap! PS, he can save any bs apologies, because that would be a LIE, too!! We will also be reporting this to other authorities. read more

I wish I could rate this establishment zero stars. I cant believe Ive visited THREE times. I blame myself. Not only was I waiting 45 minutes for my SCHEDULED appointment, mind you, I am not a new client, and did not have any new paperwork to fill out, and I know there are multiple doctors in this office, but somehow, everyone (about 4 more people) who came in after me went back before me. As the only person of color in the room, I cant help but say I felt frustrated (bc this wasnt my first visit and everyone else in the room was white. Yup I said it). After asking the receptionist if it would be much longer she told me "just five minutes" it was another 15. NOW for the main event. Dr. Marin has tried to convince me THREE times now to have teeth extracted. He ALWAYS goes straight to worse case scenario as opposed to showing some sort of empathy and talking through other options. Nope. Every time he wants to yank it out. Why? This visit was for a filling that had come out in the back. I guess the angle of it makes the work difficult and involves me getting a specialist but thats "a lot of work" and "really difficult" and a "small percent chance" and "may involve ANOTHER specialist..." Okay AND? Im sure Dr. Marin has a lot of patients,( But apparently no patience) but he has had ZERO empathy to me on any visit. Maybe he reserves it for other patients. However, Im only 30, and these are my PERMANENT teeth. Why does he think its okay to talk me out of something that may cost more but prove to be true value to me in the long run? If there's even a 1% chance of something working, why wouldnt he offer the support in that arena, like every other dentist I've ever had, as opposed to jumping straight to worst case scenario. Im just curious if he treats all his patients like this or just the Black ones? Never going back. Oh! I forgot to add that Dr. Marin opted NOT to prescribe me antibiotics for some reason. I told them how the pain in the tooth came and went, but he TRULY doesnt want to be proactive. All I said was that I would need a probiotic as well, and he assumed it was because it would "upset my stomach" and changed his mind about it. I didnt correct his wrong assumption (its a common woman-related issue in which ive never had a problem getting probiotics before) AND they "forgot" I had scheduled a cleaning for this same visit as well. I love this place! As someone who has not had dental insurance since we were still using pagers and we all listened to *beeep* *beeeeeep* *screeeeeeeech* to actually log onto the internet, regular visits to the dentist have been non-existent this century for me. That is until Obamacare made health and dental insurance actually possible for those self-employed like myself. Yay for Congress actually doing something other than hookers and blow! Being that it had been years since my last dental cleaning, as soon as I got dental insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield, I went about researching dentists that accepted it, and this place both accepted it and had high Yelp ratings, so I excitedly made my first appointment, anxious to have white teeth once again. And guess what? Afterwards, I had white teeth once again and a big smile! Everyone here is super friendly. It's a comfortable, inviting place, with warm people, and I'm as fortunate to live so close to it as I am fortunate that the Affordable Care Act actually passed, albeit like a kidney stone through the urethra of Dickville. Great experience. The office is right off Canal near the Womac law building (have never been inside, but I always see that office/house for some reason). They have dedicated parking off to the side. There was plenty of street parking, however, so I just parked on Canal. Inside, the decor is relaxing with an open layout and the bilingual staff is a nice plus. Mostly, I just appreciated that they didn't judge my coffee/tea stained teeth. Melissa did a great job and it wasn't awful (after not going for 2+ years, I thought my teeth would be much worse!). They reviewed my xrays and the doc came in to check for any potential spots I'd need a fix up. Overall, very professional. I was in and out, once I got to the cleaning part, in about 40 minutes. I will definitely be back in 6x months for a regular cleaning and will recommend this place to co-workers/friends who have the same insurance. Hints: Saturday hours! If you cancel w/in 24 hours, they will charge you (you'll sign paperwork on it when you are in-house) - which is a great idea. I visited the office for the first time today and I can honestly say that I couldn't have asked for more. I hadn't been to the dentist in quite a while and my last experience was horrific, so I was a bit nervous. When I walked into the office I was immediately put at ease because the interior was very nice, clean, and had a very relaxing atmosphere (a stark contrast to the last place I visited). The exam room was extremely clean and tidy and the chair faces a wall of windows that look out onto a landscaped area. The whole set up made it feel very spa-like. The cleaning and exam were very thorough, quick, and relatively painless. WHEW. Everyone on the staff that I interacted with was super friendly. I'm looking forward to my next visit. Let me start by saying the service and support I receive from the Mid-City Smiles is amazing! The staff is always very professional, nice, and follows up. Dr. Anderson squeezed me in his schedule for an emergency root canal which had me very uncomfortable with pain.
