I went to see Dr Hashmi at the recommendation of my optometrist because of a potential serious eye issue. I spent 25 years in the optical industry so I know a good doctor when I meet one. The staff was not very friendly when I went to check in at the desk, I was made to wait 15 minutes, which for an ophthalmologist office that should be expected. But the technician that took me back for the pretesting was cold, impersonal, and with some of the testing that he did I did not feel very comfortable with the procedures that he used. There is a specialized test called a visual field that needs to be done for the type of issue that I was going in for. It is a specialized machine, he did this lame unprofessional type of test with his finger. The type that your physician does when they are doing a yearly physical on you just to check how your eyes react. When I specifically asked him if they were putting me in the machine to test me he said that he was not going to do a standard visual field test, he said they do not find it that's necessary. It did not give me a very good feeling at that point. When Dr Hashmi came in she flew in like she was in a rush, she introduced herself, when I told her that I was in the field and that she could be blunt with me and explain everything in normal terms and not have to explain it as though I was person did not know anything about the human eye or anything in that industry, she ignored it. When the technician initially did what is called a Goldman tonometry test which checks for glaucoma or rather pressures in the eye that could show up a possible diagnosis of glaucoma, he came up with a high number, when the doctor did the exact same test she came up with a number that was six points lower. The time between the two tests was 10 to 15 minutes. Her result was absolutely nowhere near what both the initial result from my optometrist was and from what the technician got. She had a six-point different result. With glaucoma you do not have a six-point drop in a 15 minute period from the previous test. The doctor spent approximately 7 minutes with me. I did not feel comfortable with her diagnosis when she stated that I was fine and didn't need to worry about anything. At that point I decided that I was going to go for a second opinion, the next practice that I went to was concise, thorough, and the doctor spent almost an hour with me versus 7 minutes. I do not in any way shape or form recommend this office. I also found out after the fact from someone who has worked with this practice that they appear to be "on the shady side". I honestly wish that I had heard that prior to going to this particular practice. I never would have gone. read more

I brought my 92 year old Nana here today for her 11:30 appointment. The website says arrive 15 minutes early. She sat in their waiting room and wasn't called to the back for over 45 minutes past her appointment time. When they did finally come to get her, she had sat so long she needed to go to the bathroom. I mention to the tech that her appointment was for 11:30, why was the wait so long and she literally responded "well that's just how it is at Dr's offices!". Sorry, that is unacceptable, especially if you are seeing patients in their 90's. read more

I had a exam my yearly exam that was awful I haven't been able to read regular print and nite driving is even worse nite blindness they , would not even give me my results unless I paid 20.00 dollars or said I needed a doctor to request my results .They were rude one lady was talking to me a receptionist and another lady jumped in never turned around .I'm a senior a this is another place that are or maybe prejudice or senior abuse. read more

No, no, no! I had the WORST consultation here on 6/27/18. I was referred to a female doctor by my eye doctor- he failed me. The one star is for two of the employees I met with- 1st was the one that took me back to the exam room and the other was the one that was in the room towards the end of the consultation. They were both personable but not enough to make up for the doctor. The doctor came in- no hand shake, no how are you, nothing. She placed numbing drops in my eyes but did not explain why. The reason I was there was because I have a mole on my lash line. She asked me about three other moles I have around my eye which confused me b/c that wasn't why I was there- the reason was in the notes from my eye doctor. I asked what she was talking about as I thought she was saying I had more on my lash line and she said "look in the mirror"- she didn't give me the mirror, I had to get out of the chair and get it off the table. She was incredibly curt and lacked bedside manner. I asked how many lashes I would lose and she replied "I don't know, I didn't count them" WTH- you are going to cut a portion of my lash line and I get that you may not know completely until you do it but at least give me something! After she left, I made the appt for the procedure as the 2nd girl tried to assure me that she really is good at what she does but acknowledged that she isn't very warm and fuzzy after I made a comment about it. She said she has talked to her about it- clearly she either hasn't or this doctor just doesn't care about patients being comfortable. I called and canceled the appt and said exactly why I was canceling- I was assured that she'll talk to her again. I need a doctor that has empathy and compassion esp when you are cutting into my lash line. read more

I was referred here by my optometrist and it has been one of the most unprofessional experiences I've ever had with a physicians office. The tech I had yesterday asked me the same questions at least 4 times. I felt like telling her to write the answer down. Then she did the eye exam and several other tests and pictures. Just this part took 45 minutes. The doctor came in and said I was wearing contacts, which I wasn't but the tech marked down that I was. Then he said my eye pressure was good until the tech pointed to something and he said it wasn't good. Then they wrote me a prescription and I told them I wanted it sent to my Mail order pharmacy but I could fill the prescription so I could start it sooner than a week. But they went ahead and send the prescription into my mail order so I couldn't fill the written one. It's as if they don't know how insurance works. I called today and explained the situation and they called and said they would have a sample for me at the front desk. I got there at 4:20. They were closed. You would think they would mention their hours while they were on the phone with me. Needless to say I'm getting a second opinion and I will not be coming back to this practice. I have never seen such unprofessionalism and disrespect in my life and I am in doctors offices every day for work. Avoid this practice. read more

The worst new patient experiences ever. First, I specifically asked for an ophthalmologist, as my mom has had a detached retena, has cateracts and a brain tumor in the vision area of her brain. I conveyed this to the mental midget who took my info when I called and scheduled specifically for Dr. Rassouli. The day of our appointments arrives and they tell us he's not there that day and that an optometrist, which isn't covered by my mom's insurance, would see her. Like my mom didn't have enough medical bills! We almost walked out. And should have. They were over an hour behind and we were there over 2.5 hours with a toddler! The communication is horrible. First, when a patient walks in and you're behind by more than 30 minutes at 10am, you should inform them and give them the opportunity to reschedule. Second, if you're going to switch doctors, make sure they've got the same qualifications. We came back today because we were told the ophthalmologist wanted to see her, and guess what, he's not there. This time, they're an hour behind and at the last minute they tell us she's being seen by a tech!!!! This is disgusting. I'm an ER nurse and have previously worked in a private practice and would never treat my patients like this. Trust me when I say we won't be back. I've requested the office manager contact me. I'll see how they try to spin this. read more

If I could got a ZERO I would. Too bad I liked the doctor. If you want to be over charged the minute you walk in for an appointment then go for it! I had an eye appointment 4/28/2020. I was charged 178.00 before the doctor even examined me. I had an emergency or else I would have walked out. I have no copay with my PPO insurance but was told the 178.00 was going towards my 500 yearly deductible. Okay, I paid it. I had a follow up appointment a week later 5/2/2020 and was once again charged-100.00 upfront. A couple of weeks later I received my Explanation of Benefits from my insurance co. for my first visit. Turns out I was over charged by 60.00. When I called the office I was told that I had to wait for the second visit EOB statement and whatever I was owed I'd get a check mailed to me. Well after the second EOB came I am owed 41.83. Once again I called the office and the billing lady J told me I'd receive a check in the mail in 2-3 weeks. Seriously!!!! Sure demand my money the second I walk through your door, but make me wait 2 months for a refund. It's now 6/23 and I still have received no check!! !!I will be contacting the corporate office as well today. read more

I could not be happier with Dr. Ankit Desai at Spectrum Eye. He is very warm and compassionate, explains everything he is doing, is incredibly kind. My Retinopathy hasn't cleared and injections to the eye are never fun, but he goes out of his way to make me as comfortable as possible. I had a recent change in insurance and had to cancel my last appointment. He reached out as he was concerned, if I didn't get care with him going forward, that I was receiving care elsewhere. I never left his care; I just had to wait for my new insurance to kick in. Who does that? He is awesome; what a great doctor! read more

I was referred to Spectrum Eye Institute by my optometrist for an evaluation to remove cataracts. My appointment was conducted by a very professional and knowledgeable technician. When he completed my evaluation, Dr. Hashmi came in. She examined me and explained the various types of lens for the implant. She recommended the Symfony Extended Depth of Focus lens. I have since had the surgery for both eyes. I feel like I've been reborn. I don't have to put on glasses when I first get up. No more contact lens. Everything went well and I couldn't be happier. All of the staff at Spectrum Eye Institute are professional, friendly and they made me feel like I was the only patient. I recommend this business to everyone. read more

I had DCR surgery with Dr. Williams in Jan. 2018. It is where you create a new tear duct as mine shut down. 5 months after surgery when she removed the stent, I told her it felt like something was stuck in my nose. I explained to her that when I would blow my nose on that side there was blood on tissue. She told me I would need a revision surgery as my tear duct was still blocked. Well, on June 18, 2018 while at work I blew my nose and noticed that there was something black in my nose which ended up being a stitch she left in!!!!! When I called the office to tell the tech she said she would call the doctor. When she called back she told me Dr. Williams said it was a residual stitch. She did not apologize nor did she take it out!!! I had to pay an ENT to remove it. Since, I have incurred over $3,000.00 in medical bills. Yesterday, I was told my tear duct is still partially blocked and that no revision is needed at this time. If an infection comes back then I would need it. I would not recommend her for the way she treated me for something she did. I am in customer service and would never treat someone like that. read more

I recently had PRK surgery on my eye so I don't have to wear glasses anymore. Dr Hashmi ,who is with Spectrum eye clinic was wonderful . She makes you feel at ease and explains everything to you. She doesn't rush into surgery right away. She makes sure she gets the proper measurements. Her staff is phenomenal. They are knowledgable and caring. Both Dr. And staff are awesome. Beware. You will be told everything you want to hear to convince you that surgery is the way to go for cataracts. While I'm sure they didn't tell me that I would have absolutely perfect vision I am sure they made it sound like I was not going to have any issues near or far if I went ahead and got the Restor lens. After the second eye I waited the allotted time and then went to see Dr. H about it. Surprise! She recommended polishing the new lenses. 'This will help so much' she said. More money, more waiting, more problems. After that I went back to be tested again and was told that my eyes were almost 20/20 yet I still couldn't see perfectly. Let me remind you that I asked every question possible before the surgery. I pretty much asked if I would be glasses free and was reassured that that was definitely going to be true. On my last visit the doctor said I should go see the optometrist and he would probably recommend some type of glasses. YES! That's right $5000 out of pocket to go backwards and have glasses again. So you might be wondering what is actually the problem. I have bad floaters from the polishing, dry eye from the surgery, and still can't see in low light. I contacted a friend who works for another eye doctor and she pretty much said that she had heard that this group totally oversells these expensive lenses. And while I didn't go backwards with my vision I feel tricked and lead on to get the most expensive lenses when maybe I could have gotten simply LASIK, not have spent as much, and still had the same outcome. Be ware everyone. Get a second opinion and do lots or research if this facility recommends Restor lens replacement. read more
