Long wait times. Poor communication. Disconnect between departments. MyHealth APP doesn't function fully. This system is broken.

This review focuses on the hospital staff and not the surgeon who was outstanding as well. I arrived two hours prior to my surgery time as directed and was pleased to use the offered valet parking. Not a big deal going in but it's super nice to have your car all warmed up waiting for you when you're ready to leave. With all the pretesting that takes place, it is understandable why you are told to arrive two hours prior to the surgery time. Additional bloodwork and surgical preparation (IV's, etc.) were handled by two really outstanding and friendly nurses. Also during this time, the anesthesiologist, surgical nurse and surgeon came to talk to me. I was a bit concerned about the anesthesia since I was made aware Corewell did not renew the contracts with the various practices that previously provided this service. Apparently their business model is to employ Nurse Anesthetists with the Anesthesiologist (also a hospital employee instead of independent) supervising two or three operating rooms. The Anesthesiologist did a good job explaining to me his involvement and did not discount any of my concerns but rather tried to address them. I awoke in the recovery room to another pair of excellent nurses. They did a great job explaining the do's and don'ts of post recovery. I needed to be assessed by Physical Therapy before I could go home so that came next. No one likes surgery (at least I don't think so) so when a team can do such an outstanding job making you comfortable, it really is a nice surprise.

Had surgery 4/2026. The doctors and the small amount of food I was able to keep down was good…read more Unfortunately, discharge felt rushed and nothing was explained to me on post-op expectations.

She did not receive a room until Saturday morning! That's right 3 whole days to get a room when you have a life threatening health issue. This is simply not acceptable, and no where near good health practice! Something is seriously wrong at this hospital. Can something be done? She was left in the hallway for hours outside an ER room before she was finally put in a tiny windowless room in the ER and later transferred to an even smaller room in some sort of "holding area." She could not rest or sleep which probably damaged her weak heart even more. This is not acceptable care, and is especially poor care for those in a life threatening situation. This needs to be fixed immediately. If this hospital is too busy to house patients properly they need to let patients know so they can go to another hospital to get a room and proper care. This seems to have been going on for several years now at this hospital as we had a very similar experience with my father several years ago. Do not go to the ER at this hospital unless you want to wait 3 days for a room!

Overall to say that numerous Nurses(not all by any means) went about their work with the urgency of a sloth with time to kill would be an understatement. While I was bellowing for aid, I could literally hear all of the nurses standing at the nurse station talking about their weekends. When I was discharged I realized why they were so distracted.... they all had their phones out gently scrolling through social media. Excellent! I also got some good pics of them on their phones! When I was leaving I asked the security officer if this was commonplace and he said absolutely! I would definitely search other medical aid while in Grand ... Update: the staff put the wrong address on my Bill and sent my info to address from over 15 years ago. After calling them to find out about my bill they realized they took a pic of my ID and insurance and just didn't update the file.... the incompetence is never ending here.

Safety there is nearly nonexistent there for floor staff and patients. The doctors barely listen to the patients or address their concerns. Often meds are changed whether the patient wants it that way or not. Acuity is often not separated, so those with depression may witness full blown psychosis aggression. I was often shocked and angry by what was happening at Forest View. I spent nearly 3 years angry every day. I have had career trauma from my experience working there. I have heard the term "moral injury" and that sums up every shift I had. I wouldn't recommend this "hospita" as a place to work or a place to recover from mental illness. I've seen it do more damage than good.
