I moved my dad to Blair House and he was there for one month and I was amazed at the loving quality care he received. They attended to his every need and I could finally sleep at night knowing he would be well taken care of 24 hours a day. The nurses and aides are very caring and compassionate- they treated my dad like family. Very warm and loving and kept me up to date on all changes- no matter how small. The staff was always available to answer my questions and also gave me emotional support. Don't hesitate to place your loved one here- they will receive the best care! Most nursing homes are old and have outdated decor. Blair House is small, the hallways can get crowded and could use some updates but who really cares about that? I was looking for quality competent care and compassionate nurses and that is what I received!

Our experience was completely unacceptable and, at times, frightening. Meals and medications were repeatedly missed, diabetes was not properly monitored, and after a trip-and-fall incident it took approximately 15 minutes for anyone to respond to the call button or cries for help. No family should ever have to worry whether their loved one is receiving basic care. The staff were consistently rude, dismissive, unresponsive, and showed little compassion or respect for the patients in their care. Repeated requests for help, updates, and basic information were routinely minimized, brushed aside, or simply ignored, leaving our family frustrated and without answers. The facility itself is outdated, poorly maintained, and appears to be operating with a complete lack of accountability. Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Dialysis are all outsourced, yet communication between those providers and the facility staff was virtually nonexistent, resulting in missed appointments, poor coordination of care, and unnecessary confusion. To make matters even worse, administration is essentially unavailable from Friday through Sunday, leaving families with nowhere to turn when serious concerns arise. This experience shattered our trust. We would never recommend this facility to anyone who expects safe, competent, and compassionate care for a loved one. Based on our experience, this facility failed to provide the level of care, communication, and respect that every patient deserves.

Our family entrusted this facility with her well-being during a vulnerable period of her life, and unfortunately, the care she received fell far below acceptable standards for a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center. One of the most alarming issues was that my great-grandmother was prescribed the wrong medication. This is a serious and potentially dangerous error, particularly for an elderly patient with complex medical needs. Medication management is a fundamental responsibility of any skilled nursing facility, and this mistake caused our family significant distress and concern for her safety. Additionally, staff consistently treated requests for basic care or assistance as an inconvenience. Whenever we asked for something on her behalf--whether it was related to her comfort, care, or daily needs--we were met with resistance, delays, or dismissive attitudes. It often felt as though helping her was considered a burden rather than a responsibility. Despite repeatedly informing staff that my great-grandmother was nonverbal, my grandmother was given an extremely difficult time when advocating for her. Rather than showing understanding or compassion, staff appeared frustrated and unreceptive. This lack of acknowledgment of a patient's communication limitations reflects poor training and a troubling absence of patient-centered care. Throughout our visits, staff members were frequently observed on their phones, seemingly disengaged from their responsibilities. This raised serious concerns about attentiveness, supervision, and overall professionalism, especially in a setting where patients rely entirely on caregivers for safety and dignity. Another distressing issue was the disappearance of my great-grandmother's personal belongings. Items that were clearly brought with her to the facility simply vanished, with no accountability or explanation provided. This further eroded our trust and added to the emotional strain placed on our family. Despite being in a rehabilitation facility, my great-grandmother was confined to her bed and was never placed in a wheelchair. There was no meaningful effort made to support mobility, positioning, or rehabilitation, which is deeply concerning given the facility's stated purpose. Perhaps most heartbreaking of all was witnessing the emotional impact this treatment had on her. She was made to cry due to how she was handled and spoken to. Staff were physically rough with her at times, showing little gentleness or empathy. While staff members often spoke in a professional tone, their actions told a very different story one marked by unprofessional behavior, lack of compassion, and disregard for her dignity. Overall, the care provided at Medway Country Manor Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation was unacceptable. While professionalism was sometimes conveyed through words, it was not reflected in actions. The experience left our family feeling unheard, disrespected, and deeply saddened that our loved one was treated in such a manner. I strongly urge the administration to reevaluate staff training, accountability, and patient-care standards to prevent other families from enduring a similar experience.

I have visited a relative who is in a differenct facility (a non-profit) that has none of this level of neglect. I find it hard to believe that the attitude of neglect is limited to the facilities, and does not also impact patients. This is a problem with the private investor owned places, since each dollar saved by skipping maintenance is another dollar of take-home income for the owner. And you won't save any $$ - their rates are not any lower than far nicer places.
