The online shindig has been terrible for me. I don't know, man, I think the algorithm is out to get me or something. I can go on a tirade that would exceed the character count, but that's not why I'm writing this review. I decided to give speed dating a try because then I'd get at least a little facetime and see if there was a mutual click. Plus, experience has shown that people can be very different offline relative to online; oh the stories I could tell. I received confirmation soon after booking the event, and was later emailed when many people cancelled as snow was in the forecast. I also appreciated the follow up - so that I would not end up going to an empty event. Rescheduling after cancellation was easy as pie. Then came the night of the event itself. Arriving at Scholar's (one of their venues), the restaurant told me where the event is, and checking in was as easy as giving my name. You're encouraged to mingle before and after, and I ended up hanging out with two guys after the event. Irony: Go to an event looking to find a girlfriend, end up finding a guy friend instead, two in this case. The dating itself was pretty much what you'd expect. The women sat at tables while the men shifted from table to table every five-ish minutes. There was a diverse group of people age-wise, with some in their early 20's, and some in their mid-30's. After each 'mini-date' you'd fill out a scorecard stating how much you liked the person you just met, with a pretty easy to use scale. If there was a match, you'd be notified the next day. Something interesting happened that evening, and it bumped them up to five stars. While there should have been 14 women, only 8 showed up. With that, I got an email a day after offering me to come back on the house! They opted for the higher road, and not just "sorry, that's the way the cookie crumbles." I do have some notes on how the event(s) can be made even better! First, regarding ages: because everyone's preferred age range is slightly different, having a narrower age range is very tough. Still, It may be worth considering having some events that are a little narrower in terms of ages (and closer to a person's preference). How to properly implement this, I haven't a clue. Second, a 10 second pause after each date would be great. It would allow the daters to fill out their card without their previous or new date seeing the rating. Speaking of cards, while I understand SpeedBoston dating trying to move away from the traditional model, name-tags would help filling out the card correctly, and save some previous time. Third: even though there was a smaller number of women than expected, it did feel at times a little cramped, especially at the larger table in the back. We weren't exactly bumping elbows, but having a little more space would be appreciated. read more

I booked a speed dating session that has been rescheduled 3 times now with the last time being cancelled just two hours before the event was supposed to happen. I understand that people have to reschedule their lives sometimes but deciding to cancel last minute does not really reflect well on the kind of people that book speed dating with My Cheeky Date. The company should incorporate a no date change policy within 24 hrs where the person has to eat the cost of the ticket if they can't make it, instead of being able to reschedule the last minute. Having no consequences for last minute cancellations makes the company extremely unreliable. Also, once you purchase a ticket it's non-refundable. Go with another speed dating company, I do not recommend My Cheeky Date. read more

That's all look strange. After rescheduling my event twice at the very last moment they issued a refund as I asked. That is fair, but I prepared myself for this event and arranged my schedule not waiting for event to be canceled morning of the date. I was told that large group of clients "requested it to be rescheduled". So what about other large group, which was not even asked. Is this some friends and family event? However the main reason of this bad review is a kind of revenge they did to me. The company were insulted that I am as a client suspected a fraud here and later on they put me on some kind of black list. So I cannot book myself again. There was not even a warning, I was just told that I can't sign up anymore for no reason. P.S. service is not flexible at all, rescheduling doesn't provide any refunds if new event has different price. read more

I read all of your reviews but decided to try Speed Boston Dating anyway because I was intrigued by the paradigm. I truly don't understand why so many reviewers are panning them. I had a wicked fun time! This is coming from a guy who rated 6 of 8 women highly yet still got no matches. The company is very professional. They obtained my email and phone number and emailed me to inform me about the change in venue well in advance of the event. When I arrived, the hostess was there to walk me over to the event area. When I inquired the following day about my match results via email, though I unfortunately had no matches, Troy responded within 5 minutes. I asked a bunch of sensitive follow-up questions and got a thorough response to all of them 10 minutes later. read more

I spent most of yesterday evening being harassed via twitter by an employee of this company. My review, posted in APRIL, apparently is still bothering this company. They tried to make it seem like it was "all i good fun" by adding cheeky little phrases like "luv" at the end of tweets, but it did not make their comments any less venomous. I would be happy to provide screen shots of the tweets that were sent to me but here are some gems: "i can't believe a handsome gent hasn't snagged you yet. #shocking #fungus" "new years is a great time for change - u being single won't change until u do. don't be a sad yelper.- there is more to life" (this was sent in response to me saying that in a time when there has been so much sadness that I will not engage in petty bickering and happy new years) They also decided to tweet my full name (which is not associated with my twitter handle, nor did I ever post about it on my blog or on twitter) when I asked if they were still upset over my review. The people who work for this company are nothing but a bunch of schoolyard bullies. I refuse to be belittled into changing my opinion. I believe what I wrote about Speed LA Dating and their subpar services, and I still do. Looking at their yelp reviews, I am not the only one who has had such an experience. read more

This is either a scam, or very poorly run. Neither of which is worth your time, money, or energy. Purchased a voucher via a deals site, had friends buy it too & we were going to make a night of it, give speed dating a try. Our 1st event was canceled due to low sign ups, likely due to snow. It was during the horribly snowy month of Feb. All my friends decided to get a refund, but I decided to stick it out & try again. March 8th I was emailing w/ Tina to set up an event on March 30th. Everything seemed fine, nothing throwing up a red flag. March 27th a friend asked if there were still spaces available so I checked the web & it showed sold out for women. (Which promoted a joke that there would likely only be one guy women were interested in & it would be a real life version of the bachelor). March 29th I wanted to confirm the address for the venue so I went to their site and saw the event was removed. While I thought it was strange, I also thought that perhaps that was some kind of security measure so random people didn't show up at an event. If it was canceled, why not put that on the website for people to see vs. removing it altogether? I emailed Tina to confirm the address. Nada. Monday during the day, still nada. I used Yelp to confirm the address & went down to the venue. However, when I arrived & asked for the speed dating, the hostess said there was nothing going on. The manager then told me this had happened before on another night, & they haven't had any events like speed dating in a while. Okay, I thought. Maybe I wrote down the wrong venue. Since I didn't get confirmation from the company, perhaps it was at one of their other listed venues. I called all of them. None of them had events, & I asked the last venue that I called if they ever have speed dating, which they do, but not on the nights listed on the dating website. The next day, I emailed again. No answer. I emailed again on Wednesday, nada. I then looked back through my emails & found an additional email address so I forwarded it, & left a message on their answering machine stating the number of emails I had left & if I didn't get answers I was going to report them. What do you know, then I got a reply. The first reply said: Hi Jen, Thanks for your email.  We note this is the first email we have received from you with regards to the rescheduled event.  We let all remaining daters know that unfortunately the event was removed from the event schedule at the request of fellow daters. Sometimes daters may not see this email, not check the website prior to leaving and go to the venue.  Cheers, Troy  -The event was removed at the request of fellow daters - interesting. I wasn't contacted at all. My reply: Troy, Was communicating with Tina through the 8th without issue, received no emails regarding any canceled event - two days prior to the event it even showed sold out for women - but then on Sunday was removed from website and still no communication on Sunday or Monday regarding any cancelation. Manager of restaurant also knew of no upcoming events there even though they are listed on your website --- something smells fishy. His reply: Hi Jen, Thanks for your email.  Terribly sorry you feel something smells fishy - I don't believe we're cooking any fish :-) Cheers, Troy  -I'm sorry, but cheekiness when you have a genuinely upset patron is quite rude, and if it was meant to diffuse the situation you failed and instead spurred this review.- Tina then calls me and also doesn't diffuse the situation or have the ability to provide any answers as to why the event was canceled, why the venue has never heard of them, nor why I wouldn't have received a cancelation email. Again, it's either a scam, or poorly run. You can be the judge, but buyer beware. In the end I've gotten my money returned from the deal site and now will be extra diligent about any company like this in the future. -Added proof this company is a waste of time, a reply after posting this Yelp review. I did the virtual version of this due to the COVID stay-at-home orders. Thought it would be fun and a good way to meet people. Signed up for 20s/30s range. The host was very nice, but I immediately noticed there were men in the group who were significantly older than the age recommendation (which I later learned is just a recommendation). While the host answered my concerns and said I could leave the video chat and contact the host at any point if I felt uncomfortable, it was a very awkward situation. I agree that love can overcome age gaps, but being in a private video chat with a stranger 20 years older than me was baseline uncomfortable, despite the fact that no one did anything blatantly inappropriate. I was even more concerned since they are using a video call platform that doesn't even allow you to blur your background nor choose a virtual one-- so my home was exposed to everyone. Also side note the male- female ratio was WAY off. Participating in this made for a good story, but will not be doing this again nor would I recommend. read more

Was my first time speed dating and though the men were nice enough I didn't find my soulmate. It really just turned into an exercise in making small talk. Biggest complaint was that included in the $29 was food- and the organizers just failed at it. They were walking around and drinking and not paying attention to the actual event. This organization really needs to hire actual event planners. Little tip- if you say you're going to provide appetizers for 20 something people, don't just put out 6 chicken fingers and 1 personal sized pizza. Also, not a good sign if one of your guests needs to get plates from the kitchen herself. Keep your expectations low with these folks and you'll have a good time. read more

However, the employee I dealt with is at their LA office so it does apply. My review still stands If you like to be insulted and completely disrespected in return for your money, then deal with this company and their staff. I have attended 2 of their events. The good: -Nice venues -Diverse group of attendees (great if you are into Asians) The bad: -I didn't get a response from them until I emailed TWICE about the same thing. Every single time. -They canceled an event at the last minute. -They tried to keep my money even though the event I'd signed up for got canceled. -After begging and pleading a few times by email, Tina in LA grudgingly agreed to give me a comp for their next event for a much older age group. When I politely asked to be comped to another (more age appropriate) event, she didn't respond. I emailed again and still didn't get a response. -No money was ever refunded. The ugly: -They emailed me my matches *3 days* after the event and only after I emailed them TWICE about it. -I found out when I went on a date with one of my matches that they never emailed her with her matches after the event. -The "organizers" were totally disorganized both times. One was weird enough to confide in me her disdain for the attendees who turned the event into "set of the biggest loser". I will never attend their events again. read more

The Boston experience left much to be desired. They say they provide appetizers, but this was really only a bowl of edamame and a discard bowl for the shells (gross). There were no breaks, which made some people have to miss their whole time talking to a person because they had to use the restroom or wanted to get another drink. They say they have British people, but that was also a lie (obviously not a big deal, but still, why advertise that everywhere if you don't actually do it). Absolutely horrible. The event started late, the ratio was off and there were a handful of men waiting to talk to few women since there just weren't enough ladies at the event. The host didn't show up until much later than the start time. It was poorly organized to say the least. I do not recommend this service. After having a series of events cancelled, I attempted to get a refund and was refused. I am attaching our final email exchange with names removed. Note the following phrases the representative from SpeedBoston Dating used in describing the service: "Daters have expressed to use they don't wish to meet those that aren't understanding - everyone is here for a reason; Some to try a new thing out - others because they have tried and failed at virtually all other avenues." My main concern and reason for frustration throughout this whole ordeal is that this is the second time I have tried to use your company, and all together I have had five consecutive events be cancelled. Over the winter I had three events cancelled and I was issued a refund. I attempted to use your company again over the summer and had two consecutive events cancelled. All together, five consecutive events have been cancelled. I cannot keep changing my schedule. These people are absolutely out of their minds. I bought a voucher to attend one of the speed dating events. When I e-mailed one of the site's contacts to ask about upcoming dates, the manager Tina replied and told me I would not be allowed to attend because I was a "blogger". I didn't mention this in my email, so clearly this woman took it upon herself to Google me and discover that yes, I do blog. I blog for for my company's marketing department about once a month. Despite explaining that I don't blog about social events, and even saying that I would sign papers agreeing not to blog about their group, I was still denied. The manager Tina then told me that, in the past, after dates have gone on several dates together and get to know one another, the ones who find out they are dating "bloggers" get very upset and complain to the company, so now they simply don't allow bloggers. Ha, ok then. No wonder they need Groupons and deals to get people to their events - you'd be hard pressed to find someone these days you wouldn't classify as some type of blogger. These people have lost it! But who knows, I guess you can try giving them a shot - if they'll let you in that is. read more

Bought a pass for an event in Boston that got snowed out (Boston did get a lot of snow). After impatient email and text messages about the cancellation, I settled on another date- that got yet again snowed out. Again impatient email and text messages from them that showed that they dont keep track of who has emailed or texted back. I picked another date - and received text message confirmation- only to find out that I was not put on the list for the new date and I should rebook AGAIN. At this point, I dont trust them to be organized enough, so I asked for a refund- which they dont grant. In my world, it would be common courtesy to make customers happy that have been inconvenienced, so I do not recommend them. The 2nd star is only for that fact that they at least answered emails. read more
