Terrible experiences in the past, but I decided to try again. Nope. Terrible results for a $42 car wash/interior. I spoke with the manager and was told that the interior is cleaned the same despite the packages. An employee, as well as a manager told me that I would need to pay for detailing IF I WANTED SEATS, INTERIOR SPRAYED AND WIPED DOWN. The dashboard, seats, bank of seats etc were not touched. Ended up with lots of debris left in my car, and obvious footprints, etc. I was not expecting a detailing, but I expected far more for the price. Do not recommend. read more

Do not use this business for the monthly car wash. I repeat do not use this business whatsoever for a monthly car wash. This past month Russell Speeders increased my monthly fee for the unlimited car washes from $29 per month to $49 per month without even notifying me. This increase showed up on my checking account statement. No warning, no phone call, no email, no mail, they just raise the rate because they thought they could. I was stunned with this poor business practice that Russell Speeders does apparently to almost every customer This business should be investigated by the State of Connecticut consumer protection immediately for their deceptive business practices. I feel bad for the employees of this establishment because they actually are very nice. Management is terrible. Upper management is possibly the worst. $29 a month to $49 a month with no warning. Never again Russell Speeders never again. I have canceled my monthly membership. There are many car wash services in the area that offer monthly rates, and I'll be checking them out shortly. I pulled in to this place in late September and they started yammering on about their monthly unlimited service. They were way too cheerful and over the top. I said, "No, I dont want that. Can I just get a single car wash?" They said yes and charged me $10 and change. Today I see a $39 charge. Since I was just up the street from the car wash, I figured I'd drive in and talk to a manager. The place isn't even open anymore. All torn up with a sign that says to drive many miles away. Going to RS is like engaging with a used car salesperson. They use high pressure sales to upsell you and won't take no as an answer. I use to have a monthly membership until the cost kept increasing. In Avon there is another car wash (still a local business) I will start going to. They have lost their personal touch and seem to focus on volume over service. My car is a small 2-seater M-B, Primary reason for full service, including floor mats and trunk, was upcoming trip to N.Y. I pd. $39 and left a $6 tip. When I got home I discovered that my trunk was never cleaned. Round trip to their facility was 40min from my home. My complaint is their website claims that they take calls from 10 to 4 on Tuesdays. Called several times. No one answers. Left message, but no one calls back. The management is unreachable. Sloppy outfit and no accountability. I would rather wash my own car in the dead of winter with a bucket and a rag than got to this god-forsaken place again. When you pull in, the people greet you with sunshine and rainbows shooting out of their ass trying to upsell you the unlimited plan. Which, in their defense, I'm sure they need give an upsell the old college try - as anyone in the service industry does... BUT holy nuggets. What happened to no means no? I graciously declined the first time, and that should be where it ends. There is no reason to incessantly ask you to upgrade or add on. Absolutely wild business plan: "lets harass the customers into spending more money". The cherry on top is that the quality of the wash itself is just not great. I would consistently label it as "fine". My last complaint is the bag on you back windshield wiper. Just WHY?? I always forget that its there and then drive around with it for the rest of the day before I get home and take it off. Do yourself a favor and just avoid this place. Especially if you're already having a less than peachy day... because it may just be the straw that breaks the camel's back. I am very disappointed in the car wash I received today at Russell Speeders in Avon. I got the Reflections car wash (costing over $30) and when I got home to admire my 2024 4Runner there was soap everywhere on my back tailgate and window. There were also soap stains along the side. Haven't been here in some time. In the past I've always had a pleasurable experiences at Russell Speeders in Avon. Was in town so decided to stop and wash the truck. Extremely pushy employees that try and sell every package available. I almost ran out of gas listening to every package. Not a good experience. These guys wanted $27.99 for just an Exterior wash. Horribly pushy with trying to get you to upgrade or buy a monthly package. I just wanted an express wash and I ended up sitting there for 5 minutes basically listening to an overstepped sales pitch when I already said no. I used to go to the touch less car wash in Farmington which I heard was purchased by Russell Speeder. So disappointed. How can you improve? Stop pushing people who don't want anything more than an express wash. This is the same reason why Warby Parker took off in the eye care industry. Horribly pushy experiences. I'm going to find an independent local car wash and if not I'm just going to do it myself. You need to find the right sales pitch balance to not piss off customers who aren't interested. If you want to pay for the monthly plan it's probably fine. I don't wash my car that often to justify the price. Recently I sat for about the 5th time listening to the very lengthly sales pitch. After a polite back and forth about having heard it before, I was told I either listened until he was done or I didn't get my car washed. He was serious! I left without getting my car washed. To all that will read this: Russell Speeder's, Avon Car, wash is the best car wash I have ever used! In addition to that, I had the experience of losing my wallet, and attempted to find it. It just so happened that the car wash was one of the last places I recall having the wallet. Immediately, the Manager, Bruce, came "to the rescue." He looked every possible place and used every tool available to him. And, actually provided to me the most likely place it could be. As it turned out, per the advice of Bruce, I went back to the place -- which was a bar -- and lo and behold they had the wallet. I also want to convey that Bruce treated the search for the wallet as if it were his own. And all throughout, Bruce had a very helpful and kind demeanor. read more

Beware, very deceptive tactics. I stopped by the Avon CT location to get a quick wash and was told that for the same price I could get as many washes as I would like for one month. I explained that I live an hour and a half away and I wasn't interested. She then convinced me to do it since it didn't cost any extra. This company is an absolute pinnacle of charging you quality prices for the bare minimum service, the drive through wash will clean about 60% of your car, good luck getting your rear window even somewhat washed, the wax doesn't last more than 3 days, the detailing is an absolute joke for the insane price of over $200 and I'm always seeing other customers complaining about them doing half assed jobs, final straw was when I was turned away completely for having a small amount of transmission fluid on my undercarriage, despite the fact I'm paying $35 a month to include a chassis wash, tons of better places to go to if you want a proper wash and detail read more

I went to the Speeder's new car wash in Willimantic, CT. Up to 2-3 months ago, it was Fred's Car Wash which Speeder's took over. I was received with an aggressive sales pitch to join the monthly membership. When I declined, the employee persisted until I said no again and asked if a one-time car wash was available. I was told it was so I proceeded to get my car washed. I had been to this same car wash a number of times under the previous ownership. The quality of the wash was always very good to excellent and without the unwanted sales pitch. This time my car seemed to speed quickly through the entire wash compared to my previous experiences here. When I looked at the car afterwards, I was disgusted. The quality of the car wash was very poor, especially the rear end of the vehicle which to anyone's eye did not look as if it had just been washed. This was a one and done for me. I will never waste my money or my time visiting any Speeder's again. My one star rating is one too many. read more

I was unaware that the vacuum cleaners were for members only. I was asked to stop using them, so I have no intention of using Russell Speeders again. Any thoughts of monthly membership were squashed right then. I purchased the cheapest wash they had just to get through and leave. I was so glad that the experience went that way because the strong scent from the car wash was nauseating and I still smell it an hour later. I would not want to breathe that chemical scent on a regular basis, so I am so happy that I did not want to sign up for membership. I just wanted to share how disappointed I was with the car wash I received at the Farmington location. I am new to the area and found this location to be close to my home, so I gave it a try. The website said a basic wash was $9.00 but when I showed up at the location - I was charged $11.00. The person I paid said I must be mistaken, and she only knew of the $11.00 fee (it is still $9.00 on the website). She tried to talk me in to joining the membership but I said my decision would be made after I went through the wash. After I paid - she told me I could not use the vacuums of any of the other services because they were reserved for members only. So, I paid more for than the website said it would be and had no way to vacuum my car after the wash. When I arrived home and inspected my vehicle - my car's hood - roof and tailgate were still covered in dirt - only the sides were fully washed. If you are looking for a place to get a terrible carwash and not be able to vacuum your car unless you join the membership - this is the place to go. read more
