Service is okay but sometimes the people aren't at the desk. The bathroom is a little gross but at least they have one. The water is pretty decent and I come here for cheap gas in the middle of the night whenever I drive through Albany pretty much.

I've been passing this gas station throughout the past several years while doing Uber, and when I…read morewas severely close by (having dropped off a rider on Lincoln St a few minutes away) when I came upon it, I knew it was just that "right time and the right place." I had seen this location from a distance before, and although gas pricing here tends to be a little higher than most places (especially if you don't have a Price Plus card), I tried to stop in to try it out. However, it was the wrong decision. I knew I had my GasBuddy card to worry about and which is only accepted at pay-at-the-pump transactions. However, although it took my card, I was never asked before nor after the transaction if I wanted a receipt for the gas purchase. I ended up going in to retrieve the receipt - to which the employees were kind, and weren't busy (although the gas lines didn't show that) at all, the transaction went rather smooth. I only noticed a workable glitch in the hose location, and since this was the first time I had to fill up this newer car (to me), I couldn't quite figure out how far up I needed to go for the hose to reach and the remainder of the hose snagged on the pump hold bar - but was workable as I picked it up for it to reach. What I find most awkward is that although this ShopRite gas location is here, a few blocks down is the nearest ShopRite itself - generally where you find a ShopRite gas, you'll also find a ShopRite itself, and this was completely out of whack of everything I've learned about ShopRite before. (I actually visited that ShopRite in years past, and wrote the review of the location.) Keep in mind that this location is on the same street (Central Ave) as another ShopRite gas, although it is farther away from the other one as to not be interchangeable. It's easily confused - but it isn't the same. It's actually on the opposite side of the street many miles down closer to Albany than the Colonie one. I can't exactly say I'll be back to this location, because of the higher gas prices, but it's nice to know it exists if there's a sale on gas and this isn't crowded - not the case today, but it was my last hope for gas. I didn't really like that this station was rather crowded following the side of the pumps I needed for fitting my car's gas filling location easily. The station looked clean, including the inside of the convenience store, but I still have a wary feeling about this location.

On my most recent…read moreencounter this morning when filling up - GasBuddy card in hand (for a pay-at-the-pump transaction), at no time was I ever offered to have a printed receipt to take after paying and pumping. I knew when I got there the transaction was going to be a bit weird when I encountered "Insert Card" instead of the traditional "Welcome"-like message at the pump. However, I'm glad GasBuddy saved the day because they give me digital receipts right on the GasBuddy app. I knew I had accepted a GrubHub order (to deliver) and in between orders came to fill-up (having had a drop-off nearby), but this was beyond belief what happened.

We had a bit of trouble to get the gas pump to start, so the lady who works inside the convenience store came out to help us. She said she coincidentally owns an Impala too and advised us EXACTLY how much we need to fill up to reach 5/8 of the tank (That was the odd requirement for our car return lol). Goodness, I was so impressed. She deserves credit for going above and beyond :) Thank you!

Restrooms (on the outside, like an old gas station) were pretty gross, and after taking one whiff of the coffee I decided discretion was the better part of valor and went on about my business with the risk of ingesting any. The gas I bought hasn't bricked my car's engine yet so I'll give them two stars for minimally fulfilling the basic function of a gas station.

For a convenience store, this place has quite a lot going for it. For one, the people there are…read morefriendly and have personality. Convenience is definitely present, as they are open early and late (till midnight). The coffee is usually very fresh, and is surprisingly good. The regular coffee in the Bunn pot is the only one I have tried, as I do not care for flavored coffees. The beans are good, the roast is good, and I have made it almost a daily ritual to get it. Emergency provisions such as eggs, bacon, gallons of milk, chocolate chips, flour, sugar, butter, etc. are available. Cat and Dog food, Motor oil of course, a wide assortment of chips, candy, some hot food, sandwiches and pastries are available. The local papers are almost always well stocked. What makes an enjoyable experience here is the fact that the people working there are just really nice people. Some different employees come and go, but they never hire nasty or surly folks. So the vetting process for being hired must be pretty good. Kudos to the management (and the staff!)
