When I went to check out, she told me "whatever you want to pay". Huh?? I had no idea it was a donation only book store! How awesome is that?? :) $5 later, I had two amazing books. With a rainy weekend on tap, hiking was out of the question so we went to the Downtown Mall and wandered through the stores. I love Charlottesville...I want to live here. But that's a story for another time. Back to the review. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the nicest person I encountered all day. She was taking down Christmas decorations but offered her time to help us find our next read. She also offered some restaurant recommendations and went above and beyond to help us as we shopped. If course we bought books! She was so lovely that I would have bought something even if I didn't want it. We went to Blue Whale later that day and it was like night and day as far as shopping experiences go.

There weren't as many modern books. Still housed a great selection! Prices were very fair. My partner and I found a mystery book to read together for a total of $9. Most of the books I saw were about $3 - $7. Honestly a steal! The owners seemed nice! We didn't speak too much with them, but while checking out, we had a small laugh. You can tell that the owner takes great pride in his store, and neatly and clearly organizes everything by genre and author's last name. There are two floors of books, and books are also organized by hard cover and paperback. I found a few books that I've been looking for and I got them at a very good price. It's been almost a month since we have visited this wonderfully owlrific bookstore and my husband still talks about it with a smile.
