Dear Sir:
In 2021 I hired Dave and Spences Junk Haulers. They came to my condo and took down all the Christmas boxes down from the attic and put in the living room on the first floor. They took a picture of the attic. The only things that were left was 3 dark blue storage bins, 2 cans of paint and a tall white temporary closet to hold special event clothes. All went well.
In 2022 I hired Dave and Spence to come move and organize some boxes that were in the small bedroom on the second floor and take some boxes from the big bedroom into the small bedroom. They were organized and I found some paperwork that I needed. I had asked them if They moved people. They said No. They refer to Gamecock Movers.
In the 3rd week of December, I knew that I wanted to leave the place that I have been living. Not a good place. Landlord is not doing anything but raising the rent the first of January. It wasn't worth staying there. I had called Gamecock Movers sent them a video of my place and found out what they charged. They were available to move me on Tuesday. I called another company, and they were closed from before Christmas to after New Years Day. So, I called Dave and Spence Junk Haulers. I spoke to them about moving me the dates and a video of my condo. They said it would be $150.00 times 16-18 hours. On this I didn't compute it. I was in a situation where I had to get out. So, they came to my house and started moving everything. I couldn't be there. I kept going to the Management company and giving checks to them.
I was sitting on the toilet at one time, and I asked Dave if he could take down the curtain in the kitchen window. He came back and said it was glued up there. He lied. I put 3 hooks across the board and put the valance on the rod and put it on the hooks. He also said they couldn't take down the sconces in the living room.
I had asked a neighbor for 3 days if he would go to the condo and take down some hardware. He never responded. So, I went over there with 2 other people. The movers had left pots and pans, silverware, a closet with coats vacuum, humidifier, etc. I went over, pulled the sconces down, put them in my back seat on the floorboard and both clanged for a while, and they broke. Wow! I have had them since the 90's. The 3 of us, a neighbor and friend were putting everything in boxes and taking them over to the condo. I made another trip over there and went upstairs and my blue rug was on the bathroom floor. I looked in the closets and at the tops of the curtain rods for any hardware. There were a whole lot of boxes that had been packed for 2-5 years.
They bought the stuff they had on the truck over and I was not there. I was in the car at one time taking a rest. They wanted to know what the lock code on the box to the door code box was. I gave them my cell phones and they started tearing them up.
I was there when they came by for the money. Spence is the business one. He said it would be $2800.00. I was mad. They said it was $150 x 18 hours.
They had put boxes all in the living room. No path to go to the back of the house. Curtains were thrown on the floor. Boxes were everywhere. It took me 2.5 months to unpack all these boxes by myself. I had a
white temporary closet that was put in the first bedroom. After I had unpacked everything, I realized those 2 other blue bins had not arrived. One had a queen size homemade blue and white quilt that I got in the 80's. The other blue bin I had a full-size crocheted Afghan made from a little girl that I grew up with and she was blind. The pillow was blue and had a crocheted cover made by a family friend. I went to cook something in the oven, and I realized I didn't have any potholders or oven mitts. They hadn't brought them. Can't use a kitchen towel to go on the red part at the bottom of the oven it would catch fire. I also didn't see my cooking witch that had hung on a large hook in the dining room. If they moved the dining room table and China cabinet, it was above their heads. Got that from a friend in early 2008. I also had 2 boxes behind the tv. One had a willow wooden figurine which is part of a collection. A friend gave me it. The other box had a Fire Stick. Another friend gave it to me. One of the boxes had a lot of hand sanitizer. There was a box to the right of the bookcase. I know it had living room bookcase items. The bookcase now has some missing items. I also looked on my fridge and several magnets were missing.
When the fellows came for payment, it was Spence that handled the business part. He said it would be $2800.00. I said I couldn't pay that much. If I had done the math to begin with, I would not have hired them. Then Spence said they would take $1700.00 as I had told them that Gamecock Movers quoted me $1600-1700.00. I told them that taking $2800.00 I could not pay my rent. At the new house, I had them move my washer dryer from the side porch to the back porch.
