Spice Mango in East Dereham, Norfolk offers categorically the worst Indian food I have been unfortunate to sample in my 43 years of existence.
Their so called Balti was reheated (by how many times - one could never be sure). Any natural colour this "food" once had - had leeched into the ether days (though my suspicion is decades before).
The word spice, which they proudly display in their name was utterly nonexistent. The colour was palid - like the flesh of the recently deceased. God dammit! How hard can cooking a vegetable balti be?!
A balti should be a fresh, vibrant dish - alive with colour and rich flavour. The sauce, a tortured poo-roux, resembling reconstituted sewage. What were once vegetables had lost all structural integrity; their limp, overlooked über-reheated mush, could barely sustain being lifted by a fork.
You think I exaggerate? Order this dish and sample it for yourself. I take that back immediately. Avoid this place like the plague. I've eaten better food in a Kuwaiti side street sh*thole.
I cannot unlearn what I have learned; all I know is that this so-called curry house is an abomination - a disgrace to the cuisine of a great country.
Cards on the table it was rank. This is the only time I have ever been moved to post a restaurant review in my life. And I will never make the mistake of patronizing their establishment again. Damn it, I'd rather recommend McDonald's.
