Pretty good deals for the money here when buying on sale items, but you also get what you pay for. Everything I've gotten from here imitates the form of something nicer, but has workmanship issues. One a couple shirts, buttons fell off after only a few washes. On another shirt, the button was sewn on securely, but incorrectly. That's fine, in that you'd never really notice unless looking closely, but it speaks to the inconsistency and lack of quality control. A lot of the negative reviews are very negative due to quality or service issues. I think, if you keep in mind that you're getting mediocre quality and mediocre service, you can get very good deals here, but you have to understand that quality and service are both going to be hit or miss. read more

The customer service is terrible...first of all, if you try to call their phone number, it does not go through during "off business hours"....during business hours, you can leave a message, but no one ever gets back to you. The best way to ask for a refund or get some service is to use their email, which again, works best if you send during business hours...it takes a long time for them to respond and to provide any type of credit. We ordered a suit at Spier & Mackay for our friend's wedding originally. Due to COVID-19, stores were closed & there was little to no follow-up on the suit. As the time came for our own wedding, we were able to work with Spier & Mackay to turn the 2 pc suit into a 3pc suit and have it ready for our own big day. Brandon the customer sales associate was very helpful & attentive. He made sure that there was a lot of communication via email to address all our needs/concerns and to make sure our timelines were met. Overall, happy with the experience at Spier & Mackay. Ordered a coat on saturday that was in stock, was informed the following Friday at 4pm via email that the item is out of stock. They asked if I would like a replacement or a refund. So i emailed back asking if it can be exchanged for a slightly more expensive coat (almost everything else is out of stock), and the auto return email says they will attempt to get back to me in 24-48 business hours (so sometime next week). Pretty shocking communication / attention to detail. Willing to update review pending further communications. I was a long standing customer and always tolerated their quirks because of the pricing. That said, I just purchased my last and final item from Spier Mackay. Their website says shipment will happen within 3-4 days of purchase. I'm now on day 10. After two emails and one voicemail someone finally responded that they would be looking into my order (this was on day 9). They finally get back to me on day 10 only to tell me one of the items is no longer available. I immediately responded that I'd like to move forward with the rest of the purchase and would appreciate them expediting the shipment to make up for the fact that they completely missed their shipping commitment and no longer have one of the items. As mentioned, this is going on day 10...which is a Friday. Do you think they would respond and get the order sent today??...nope. Now I have to wait until Monday for a reply. The delivery of the suit and trousers was the only good thing Spier & Mackay did. I ordered the correct size but I still had to get both my suit and trousers tailored. Not to mention, I noticed some fraying and damage in them just after two uses. The quality is just very poor. In addition, when trying to return an extra pair of trousers I mistakenly purchased, Spier & Mackay did not honor the return because I was unable to ship them back in time as I had COVID at the time. I asked for some understanding but they refused to honor it. It is not about the money at this point; this company deliberately refused to understand the fact that I couldn't leave my house as to not go out in Public with COVID. Great place for suits and dress shirts. Rick, the owner, really knows his stuff and delivers great customer service. He will take care of you well, even after the transaction, should any need arise. Prices are quite reasonable given the quality of the product. The fit of their suits and shirts are among the best I've tried off the rack. I'm saying goodbye to Moore's, Tip Top, Zara, Mexx, even Banana Republic -- the suits here are better quality than any of them. They also have a made-to-measure service that isn't really publicized online. I have not tried them for this yet, but will look to do that eventually. read more

Staff are very accommodating and knowledgeable. Seems to be quite a tight-knit group, as the same staff were there on all three of my visits. They each helped ensure that the fit was spot on on whatever I tried on, whether it be suits or shirts. I was very pleased with the quality and fit of their suits. I fit an off-the-rack (OTR) size 38 slim fit nearly spot on, with no further alterations needed. They can do same-day hemming for your pants at $10. Waist suppression would only cost an additional $25 if needed. I purchased two suits for $250 each from their most recent sale. Suits of this quality are unheard of at these prices. I also purchased four handmade silk ties for 2/$60. Along with their numerous OTR offerings, they also offer made-to-measure (MTM) suits and shirting at a variety of price points. They also seem to like the concept of bundling, as pretty much everything in store can be bundled for savings (2 suits/$750, 2 pants/$170, 2 ties/$60, etc). For the value, I look forward to staying with Spier and Mackay as my one-stop shop for tailored garments. I've spread the word as well, and have already referred a handful of friends who have become paying customers. (Ps. this place should really be a $ on Yelp's price range system. I was in the process of purchasing a new suit for myself, since the one I purchased from Sears had its quality deteriorating. I was then told that I should get a custom made suit, and I narrowed it down to 3 places. One being Spier & Mackay, the other two being Indochino and Suit Supply. However, I was told and read many reviews that Indochino and Suit Supply have poor customer service, and the quality isn't great, therefore Spier and Mackay it was. I made the drive to Mississauga, and it was well worth the drive. I took my dad along, and he ended up purchasing a very nice dark navy pinstripe OTR (over the rack) suit and got it altered. It took only a week or so, and he enjoyed the fit. I myself, ended up with their custom made suit with 100% Italian Merino wool, and a 110 thread count from what I recall. I was told it would take 5 to 6 weeks, but due to a hiccup on their end, it took 8 weeks instead. For this, I take a star off the review. The manager/owner of the store apologized, and ended up giving me a credit to use on another purchase. The day of when I went to try on my suit, a slight alteration had to be made, and would be ready about a week or so. To which it was, and it was fantastic. The fit was excellent, the quality was excellent, and most importantly, the customer service was excellent. All the staff members are knowledgeable, and go out of their way to help a customer out. They don't pressure you, or they don't ignore you, unlike some other places I've been to, including the traditional Harry Rosen, Moores, etc. I also look forward to trying on my custom made shirts, which also by the way takes 5 to 6 weeks. read more

Spier & Mackay (S&M) is a fairly new company (maybe 2010?) located in Canada. They have a warehouse that sells to the public and will be opening a full retail store downtown in the not-so-distant future. They offer OTR (Off-The-Rack) and MTM (Made-To-Measure) dress shirts and suits. So far, I have only purchased shirts. The quality of the shirts is fantastic for the price! The fabric is much better than Charles Tyrwhitt and less money than Kamakura or Brooks Brothers. As far as sizing, the 'contemporary' fits me better than the slim-fit offerings. The shipping from Canada to USA is reasonable. The Customer Service is really good. I have seen the owner (Rick) reach-out on different social media fronts (such as Dappered and StyleForum) and he is very involved with his brand. Suggestions: At the moment, they don't offer incremental sleeve sizes so you may have to bring the shirts to your tailor. I hope this is something that they will offer soon. I am a fan. read more

Purchased a suit and several shirts online, and I am extraordinarily pleased with the quality and fit. Being that I ordered made-to-measure online, I expected an imperfect fit; I have done the same at Indochino. However, the difference between these two companies is stark. Indochino delivered an alright suit that did not fit perfectly even after in-house alteration, and the customer service was not amazing. Spier & Mackay, however, delivered an almost perfect fit on the suit (perfect on the shirts) the first time around, and all the interactions I have had with staff are pleasant. For the price point I would have expected better service and better quality items. When you go into the store is like going into a warehouse with a bunch of clothes. For those of us that aren't skinny-minnies, their contemporary fit is nice in that it is fitted but not skin tight. Nine dollar discount off each shirt if you buy more than three, and they have a number of older styles on sale for $30. Certainly beats scouring the bins at Winners. On Oct. 7, 2015 this company charged my credit card $151.82 for three custom made shirts. To date, I have received one. After multiple emails, I discovered that this company never placed the order for the remaining two additional shirts I was owed. Subsequently I was told the order was placed in December. However, as of today, while I am told that they have been mailed, the tracking number that I have been given list no package with stamps.com or USPS, and this is four days after receiving the tracking number.
