Suit fitting at Spier & Mackay
    Callie P.

We ordered a suit at Spier & Mackay for our friend's wedding originally. Due to COVID-19, stores were closed & there was little to no follow-up on the suit. As the time came for our own wedding, we were able to work with Spier & Mackay to turn the 2 pc suit into a 3pc suit and have it ready for our own big day. Brandon the customer sales associate was very helpful & attentive. He made sure that there was a lot of communication via email to address all our needs/concerns and to make sure our timelines were met. Overall, happy with the experience at Spier & Mackay. The instore experience was good and the safety protocols were met during COVID-19.

Along with their numerous OTR offerings, they also offer made-to-measure (MTM) suits and shirting at a variety of price points.

I recently had a horrible experience at a suit shop downtown (I absolutely hated that place!), but…read morethen I decided to check out this Harry Rosen outlet that people online kept talking about. Long story short, the customer service (I was helped by Evan) was second to none. I felt like a king here. Not pushy at all, great advice in terms of fit, and I felt very comfortable. After experiencing the worst experience of my life at Tom's Place (used car sales men who sells suits), I was so happy to be here. Unfortunately, they didn't have my size, otherwise, I would have gladly paid an extra $400 just to buy a brand name suit with Evan. And surprisingly, the selection of suits (and other clothes and accessories) were very good! Although, they do carry "out of season" clothes, they're just as good as in season, especially with the prices. Definitely recommend checking out!

It wasn't until I came to the cash desk with an armful of pocket squares, socks, and ties that some guy scooped me up and, I'm sure, happily took the commission. The selection of merchandise is fine for most demographics, though Harry's is traditionally a more conservative bunch than their Holts counterparts. The outlet is no exception to that rule, just that there appear to be a lot more gaudy units in stock. I happen to like gaudy dress furnishings so we paired well in that regard. Heartland is a crap mall to begin with and I don't think Harry's Outlet brings much of anything to draw me back here.

It's a loft-like space with lots of natural light and really well decorated. One thing that set it apart immediately, is it doesn't have that thrift store smell. They're true to their word that they're only selecting good quality items. Sure, some of the items are perhaps a bit plain, but you don't have to take too long to find a few things you'll like. It's certainly not the case of searching for a diamond in the rough. I imagine woman will like the place even more since about 80% of the floor space is for them. There were several shoppers there and they seemed to have no issue picking out great stuff too. Also, prices are GREAT! Anyone who's 'vintage' shopped in places like Kensington Market will know that things can still have relatively higher prices. My items were incredibly inexpensive, including a Banana Republic shirt which showed virtually no signs of wear for $10. I found out at the counter that this is actually a franchise as part of a fairly large chain (which I hadn't previously heard of). Regardless, they're a very unique and welcome edition to the city.

It's a good place to get suits for a good price, they seemed to be fine quality, average normal…read moresuits. Ofcourse for this price you aren't getting designer suits but they're surprisingly nice, needed some for a wedding this past summer and because of their sale deals it was really beneficial and lucky that I needed 2 for my sons, so we ended up getting discounts thanks to how many we bought. The sales seem constant, always having some sort of deal on so that's also good. The staff working was actually really helpful, I know nothing about men's clothes or suits and the man working there was very helpful in pointing out what a good fit should look like and all sorts of little details when my sons tried them on so I was thankful for his input. The only thing I would say is watch out on some things like the hoodies with the fleece on the inside they can be not so good quality, we got two of them at the same time we got the suits and they both shrunk in the wash which was probably my fault but it didn't say any special washing directions on the tag and one had started unraveling at a seam the first time it was worn so I had to sew it up a little tighter to ensure the thing didn't fall apart when worn, but that was for nothing as in the end they shrunk after a wash and were too small to wear anymore so had to be donated. The suits however were perfectly fine and I'd recommend to stop by and pick up dress clothes here if you need a suit and don't want to drop a lot of money on it, I certainly wasn't going to spend several hundreds per suit, when I needed 2 of them, on one wedding and no other purpose for them so I'm happy we went here and got them for a deal rather than going to Harry Rosen or something and spending 700$ per suit. Definitely not for just one wedding outfit!

Since I'm big into vintage clothes, I thought that I'd check it out while in the area! Located in an industrial area, the actual space is HUGE, occupying 3 units. It is spacious. Popular/high demand items are neatly displayed in the front area and it is all individually priced, re: Carhartt jackets for $80-120, North Face fleeces at $65+, etc. I didn't see any band t-shirts as advertised on their social media/website. The rest of the store had long racks with stuff like baggy t-shirts, shorts, sweats, sweatshirts/hoodies, jeans, etc. Even though these are pretty unisex items, most stuff was primarily for bros. Racks were pretty jam packed and I found it difficult to go through as there was barely any space to flip thru items. Do expect to find items were distressing, holes, & some stains. Jeans were next-to-impossible to go through as it was soo tight! Majority of the items that aren't tagged, I believe according to signs, were $20/piece. So I'm sure there are deals to be had. I just didn't have patience to do it. Maybe it's easier to buy from their online store. Store is opened 7 days/week!

Of course she was distraught and felt she was never going to find a dress. Well Dream put my daughter's mind at ease as she isn't a size 18 but a size 14! Bridal stores apparently have a much smaller sizing scale and Dream told her if she doesn't find anything else (in regular stores) to come back. The dress we truly liked for my daughter was a bit out of our price range and she didn't coerce us to buy, which is so refreshing. If you are looking for really nice plus size clothing that is not frumpy, this is a great place to start. Most items are very reasonable, prom dresses being as they are with all the bling are a bit pricier, but not ridiculous. Just wanted to let everyone know about this gem that's also run by a gem! Thanks Dream, you really live up to your name!
