OMG if you love Aranchini's, this is the place! It was soooo good, we went here twice! So many Aranchini varieties to choose from. We had the spinach, carne and cheese. Unfortunately, I did not get pics of the selection of savory options but this is a place you have to visit. They also offer a nice variety of gelato. Best to go during the day if you don't want to wait in long lines as it's always packed at night but still worth the wait. Don't go too late though, we did and were disappointed when most items were sold out....Sad. Enjoy your tasty treats and beautiful Catania in their outdoor patio.

Terrible service, rude. The waiter kicked me out of the place because I ordered at the counter. Ice cream was too sugary and owner was having a fight with someone on the phone. Zero atmosphere.

When it comes to Arancini or "tavola calda" (hot snacks like small pizzas bites etc) Spinella is personally my favourite in Catania and the one I always go to when in town. First of all, location: You couldn't be more central than that. Spinella is right in the middle of Via Etnea, the main street, facing Villa Bellini which is the most famous park/garden in Catania. They have tables outside and it's the perfect spot to sit, relax and do some people-watching. The food is excellent too. This place is famous for serving the best Arancini and Cannoli and I have to agree. I literally go there any time I am in Catania. They serve a lot of different pastries and savoury specialities (such arancini, cartocciate, cipollina). Prices are REALLY good as well, you can have lunch there for less than 10€, and staff is friendly and quick. Love this place. Been a customer for years and will keep going back. Bonus: There's also free WiFi which can be handy :)

Asked a gentleman (a resident of Catania) on the bus into town from the airport, "Where can we get the very best Cannoli"? Spinella! We found it. We got two Cannolis for two of us which was entirely too much but they were devilishly good. A bit sweeter than I would like but the Cappuccinos made it all perfect. We stocked up on other candies e.g Marzipan. What these counter staff do is offer you samples. You know what happens next? Purchase up. Amazing all around! I would highly recommend to visit Spinella while visiting Catania. This casual restaurant is located right off Via Etnea. It was a very beautiful day when we visited Spinelli and we chose the outdoor seating. Large trees and umbrellas gave us a lot of shade and made it comfortable even in 80F weather. The service was extremely nice and fast :) We chose Aperitivo for 4. For only 10 Euro each of us received a glass of Aperol Spritz, and a very! large charcuterie board to share. read more

Stopped by while strolling via Etnea for a sweet bite. We did not try much as we had a dinner planned elsewhere and did not want to fill ourselves. We got the pistachio cake, so lite and delicious. Not too sweet but definitely had some rum! Service was great. Recommend read more

I made it back! 12 years later and this is still the best cannoli on earth. Not too much sugar, a little cinnamon and great ricotta. Delicious! If you are in the east coast of Sicily you have to stop here. There are beautiful gardens across the street you can enjoy your treats in. read more

Nice place to stop at if you're looking for a sweet treat or sit down with. drink. After a day at Mt Etna, we were hot and just wanted to cool off so we sat in the well shaded patio and enjoyed a granita. read more

Service so rude, food is fine. But honestly, everything tastes so great in Sicily, don't waste your Euros for the toxic energy of the service. The waitstaff is so unhappy and it basically spills out in every interaction from serving to payment. The cashier, twin co-owner? Said something super-rude about me paying with credit for so little, thinking I didn't understand Italian. They should just take a holiday like the folks at Savia next door which is where we were initially recommended to go to for the best in Catania. read more
