I came in with headaches and they took an xray and mri of my neck and said I had a mild disc bulge at c5-c6 and was trying to treat that instead of my headaches. It took me a year for the right doctors to look at the mri and see the inflammation at base of my skull. They got me in right away, I was having some pretty bad pain. I knew it was sciatica because I've had it before. Everyone there was so kind. From the receptionist to the nurses and the doctor I saw. I got seen by a Physician's Assistant first. I knew steroid injections worked before for me before and that's what I wanted. The very next day I had an MRI, got it read by a Radiologist in an hour and a couple of hours later they squeezed me in to get steroid injections in my back. I had called UC health first and they couldn't even get me in for a first appointment for a month. The people there were so nice and so professional and they knew I wanted to rush this because I was in so much pain. Everything in two days. To me. That's remarkable. read more

I had a horrible experience and most certainly won't be back. First, my appointment was at 7:30am but everyone was in a staff meeting until 8am, so I waited for a half hour to be seen. I had to explain my injury to three different people: the check-in nurse, the student, then the doctor. All separately. Across those three people, I was asked straight away if I'd like to be prescribed pain medicine four times (two times by the doctor). Then at checkout, they said I owed around $800. I told the checkout person I had already hit my annual out of pocket with my insurance and I shouldn't owe anything. She insisted I did, I verified with my insurance and offered to show her my policy but she declined to look. Then she said that she "refreshed" her page and verified I was correct. As if I'd hit my out of pocket max somehow seconds earlier (it was actually months earlier). I was already sketched out when the insurance coordinator called a few weeks later, the day before the surgery and said that I would owe around $800 for the surgery! I went through the whole out of pocket max thing again, and asked her to call my insurance to verify. She said "we don't do that". I told her to cancel the surgery and all future appointments! read more

I've been treated with spinal injections several times at the Lone Tree location. My doctor, Dr Khan, provided a pleasant experience. The supporting administrative and medical staff in and out of the surgical room were competent, organized, informative and friendly. Dr Khan and the the surgical room staff all took time to discuss the procedure, answer questions and completed their jobs without a hitch. Update: The Director of Nursing called and she promised that there is going to be a review of the occurrences and an action plan put in place. I have been a patient of SpineOne since 2021. I love how everything is in one spot and you can get x-rays with results on the same day. The office staff is extremely friendly and caring as is the nursing staff in the surgical center. I have found that the surgeon and the anesthesiologist can come across as less friendly and just there to do a job and get out. Professional but not personable. Overall, I believe the treatments have helped my pain. Unfortunately, I have started to notice mistakes that make me concerned... The first instance occurred in 2021 when I was having a back procedure. The anesthesiologist came by the do the consent and he was confused about which body part was involved. Thankful, this problem was corrected before any harm was done. I do appreciate that he always asks if there is anything he could have done better during my last procedure. The latest issue was on my most current visits in April of 2022. I witnessed some very concerning HIPPA violations. One of which was when I was actually handed another patient's medical face sheet complete with name, address, medical history, and medication list. That same day I also noticed my paperwork was incorrect and had the wrong procedure on the consent form. read more

Absolutely DO NOT visit this clinic. SpineOne appears to be a reputable provider, but they are not. I visited the clinic after a car accident, and immediately the staff began asking invasive and inappropriate questions about whether I had obtained an attorney. As an attorney myself, it was a painfully obvious attempt to determine whether my visit was part of a personal injury claim. This should absolutely NOT be a medical provider's concern when a patient comes in requiring care. During my visit, the doctor himself again asked if I had an attorney and then began pressuring me into highly invasive care like ongoing spinal injections. (These are very expensive and would increase the amount of a personal injury claim.....are you starting to sense the pattern?) He also told me I was to begin physical therapy at SpineOne immediately following my visit with him. I said no, I already have my own physical therapist, and again I received more pressure to follow his instruction. When I walked out of the visit having decline injections and PT, the doctor appeared visibly frustrated and disappointed. The experience made me feel like a walking dollar sign, not a valued patient. To close it all out, I received a bill for my office visit THREE YEARS after the appointment - long after any opportunity to be reimbursed by my own insurance had passed me by. When I called the office, their billing department made no apology for waiting three years to get in touch with me and instead said the bill had probably been "sitting in their system." Do not be fooled by the seemingly trustworthy appearance of this clinic. You will not receive the care or professionalism you need if you're experiencing pain and need help. You will be much better off visiting UC Health for your care. I only hope this review saves somebody else from having a similar experience. read more

2 minutes ago I went to this location and paid with credit card day of my appointment. I was even given a invoice that said "paid in full". This office is still billing me monthly even though I have (1) Provided the invoice (2) Called and talked to supervisor's. (3) Sent a copy of my credit card statement showing the charges. I had no problem paying for the service and I DID pay! But even though the billing department knows they messed up and they have proof that I paid I have continued to receive statements. read more

We've been nothing but disappointed with Spine One. Our 20 year old son had a severe concussion and whiplash in 2021 and they just want to do surgery after surgery. They continue to send endless, new bills and it's been nearly a year since any sort of treatment was provided. read more

Dr. Hakim and his staff are amazing! I was in excruciating pain for more than a month when I went to see Dr. Hakim. He ordered XRAYs and a CT Scan which showed that I had Degenerative Disc Disease and a Pinched Nerve causing severe pain in my back, hip and leg. Dr. Hakim decided that I was a candidate for an Epidural Steroid Injection in my back. I went to the surgery center for the procedure. Everyone from the Front Office Staff, to the Nurses and Dr. Hakim were wonderful and kind. They were so professional, yet so kind and considerate during my stay. Why is there not a no star option? I truly believe this is a scam. I went in to have a steroid injection in my lumbar area under the assumption that I was having one spot addressed but was then billed for 4 injection spots totaling over 16,000. I called to find out costs out of pocket if not billed to insurance and they stated 1766.00 to include 135.00 for anesthesia. Yet, after I paid over a thousand out of pocket(this is the amount they initially told me I would be charged out of pocket) they billed my insurance company as well. I was also told that anesthesia would cost more so I declined, I was billed for anesthesia, then when asked why, it was removed, then told by someone else that everybody is charged for anesthesia when or not they take it just to have someone in the room. Next, when I was laying on the operating table to receive my shot, Dr. Khan hit something in my back like a nerve that sent an electrical shot through my whole body sending me straight up off the table involuntarily. I said, "what the hell was that?" and received no explanation. The reviews tell all. I know you may be desperate but this place is not where to seek assistance. They will tell you what you want to hear to get you scheduled and then make up whatever amount they want to charge afterward. I will not trust my body with these people again. read more

I had terrible results with the spine one for the procedure on my neck. The procedure was called radio frequency ablation caused me incredible pain for weeks after. It's been 5 weeks now and I have not resolved the initial problem and still ha e pain from the procedure. I do not recommend this practice due to their lack of follow up and excessive pain management pills they prescribed. read more

Billing practices and billing department are not friendly or helpful. The doctors and staff are lovely. It seems strange that documentation for insurance and HSA's are not readily available and they bill more up front than patients may owe. My overpayment, they required, is now a pending credit on my account that I cannot get back. They hold overpayment refund from one appointment to the future appointments "incase" you have a balance show up in the future. This is insane. read more

When checking in I clearly asked the receptionist if they were in network for Cigna. She blatantly lied to me and now I have a $1500 bill to pay. Something went wrong a neck ablation that I did last 5/27. There was a severe post-surgical-pain and they said it ought to go away in a few weeks or maybe a bit longer. I met with Doctor Hahn. I did request an office visit to understand why a shower, a rainstorm, a hair dryer, call caused such severe . pain to my scalp and headaches to my brain. He huffed and puffed, he took an MRI of my brain "i can't help you more. Go see your GP or Neurologist. First place is a new car; second is steak knives. This place lies again and again about pricing. We were quoted 1500 for injections. The total for ONE round is costing us $4,000. We were told that because we were using no sedation the anesthesiologist would only cost us $82. The bill was over for that by several hundred dollars. We were told that an x-ray was needed in addition to the MRI we brought in, but that the cost would be minimal. The x-ray told us NOTHING the MRI didn't tell us, and cost us another few hundred dollars. STAY AWAY! IF any relief from the pain had been forthcoming, it may have been worth it. But after only one injection, we can't afford to continue, and the relief we bought for that 4k only lasted a couple of days. Waste of money and time. read more

I was told specifically that they took my insurance since I wanted confirmation after reading some of the other reviews. When I began to question in office whether or not they actually took my insurance I was pulled into a side room by one of the doctors who explained their "billing formula" and how no other doctor does it because it's so beneficial to the patients...right. Well, it turns out they don't take any insurances and aren't even out-of-network. Dr. Gessman was unprofessional and unhelpful. He told me he thought I had a herniated disc by saying I have a "hot disc". I had to stop him mid-sentence to ask what a "hot disc" meant medically. read more

I am so impressed with all of the staff! My husband has a disc herniation at L5-S1, and has responded well to epidural injections in the past. Dr Thompson did a thorough evaluation, listened to us, and really made space for any of our questions to be answered. I wish I had paid closer attention to the names of the other staff, because they were also all awesome! It's always anxiety-provoking to see a specialist for something like this, but we felt really at ease. Also, they were able to get us in right away and explained the billing meticulously. Even though they may be out of network for your insurance (we have Anthem Blue Cross), they do in-network matching. Consumer beware. I would concur that the services provided are adequate, but would say that their accounting practices are at least not ethical, probably illegal. Let me explain. It is a common practice at SpineOne when they see your account with an overpayment or credit, they will not refund that credit amount until you ask for that refund. There maybe cases where you do not even know that you have a credit so they, SpineOne, will never issue you a credit or refund the excess in your account. What they do with the money long term is beyond me. Maybe they are investing it and earning money, who knows. But why do they not issue a refund the following month the credit stays on the account cannot be answered. Having the consumer only be issued a refund once the ask for it cannot be explained. read more

I saw Dr. Hakim and his staff for a herniated disc. They were all very caring and did their best to make me comfortable. Everything went smoothly with scheduling, MRI, follow ups, and epidural injection. It was nice having everything in one location. My experience: I'm 38, have had off and on lower back pain for many years and wanted to see a doctor instead of going back to a Chiro. Was in bad pain so found SpineOne after a quick google search. They get you in the same day, but gave me some confusing info on how my insurance would work being out of network. Something about "matching" charges. I got an X-RAY and talked to the physician assistant for about 15 minutes. Didn't learn much, just got some pain pills and a book about self-treatment. I refused an MRI after not seeing the reason for it. Injections seemed unnecessary to me as well. They did end up matching my out-of-network cost, total bill came to $170. Not bad, felt I got what I paid for. Back pain is terrible to live with. By the way, the book SpineOne gave me is great, "Treat your Own Back" by Robin McKenzie. Self healing is surprisingly effective! Am really thankful they gave me that book. read more

12/10/19 They are too busy to actually care for anyone any more. My first injection should have been an indicator for me. The pre-op nurse sets my IV like she's shooting pool and gave me a huge bruise that hurt worse that any IV I've had. They didn't know who was next for the procedure so they almost skipped me, the doctor had to come out to tell them I was next because they were about to grab the wrong person. I came back for a second round of shots and same hulk like IV, same forgotten order of patients this time without the doctor being there to get it right, I would have gotten in 2 hours after my appointment but I decided I wasn't going to wait. If you're in excruciating pain and have no other options, this is your place. read more

The consultation appointments were with physician assistants rather than with actual medical doctors. They pushed injections as treatment, and I finally got to see a doctor for around 2 minutes before going in for the injection. The injection did nothing to help my back pain. The Bill for the injection was outrageous. They say have in network matching, but I have had surgery that didn't cost as much as these injections.
