Update: Chewie just graduated his beginners training class with Trainer Cody! It's a 7 week class that meets once a week. Cody was great about educating us not just on teaching commands, but also on different types of harnesses, toys, bones, etc. With a class like this, you as the owner does most of the work. Cody taught us *how* to teach the commands to our dogs, but it takes consistent practice at home to make it stick. This class was very helpful for Chewie and myself as well! My fiancé and I got a puppy unexpectedly a few months ago, and as soon as she was old enough we put her in Spirit Ranch's puppy class. Our trainer Niki is amazing -- so sweet and smart, and really understands how pups behave! We've loved what we've learned and how much care our puppy receives in a group class setting. I am forever grateful to Spirit Ranch any girls amazing trainer Ester. I rescued a puppy from a very abusive situation. She was not properly socialized, and I did not have the time to give her the socialization she needed. Her fear was making her mean and scared of humans. Ester turned her into a completely different dog with a 2 week bootcamp. She now gets compliments when we go out in public on how well-behaved she is. I make sure everyone knows this has nothing to do with me and everything to do with her trainer Ester and Spirit Ranch . Her sister, my dachshund also trains with Ester and is socializing on outings with her. She now listens and follows commands, which is against a dachshunds nature lol. Both my girls are obsessed with Ester and daycare at spirit ranch. The daycare staff are amazing with them. My girls look forward to seeing their human and doggy friends at daycare. I highly recommend Spirit Ranch Dog Training! I am extremely chronically ill and this limits my mobility and quality of life significantly. We rescued my dog Charlie 4 years ago and took him to Spirit Ranch for a Service Dog temperament evaluation. We felt that the owner Amy was very honest with us about her initial impression of his strengths AND his weaknesses. We love Amy's honesty and insight with dogs. Spirit Ranch trains dogs AND their owners - sometimes the best thing we can do for our dogs is learn how to communicate with them, recognize their needs, understand their behavior and know how to respond. Charlie trained with Spirit Ranch for basic training classes, in-home privates, boot camp with Amy, his canine good citizen certification and became my mobility assistance service dog. I am forever thankful for Spirit Ranch! Charlie flies on planes with me, stays in the hospital with me, goes to all my doctors' appointments, helps me walk with stability, picks up items for me, and keeps me safe. He watches me closely when I'm feeling bad and reminds me of my limits when he knows I need to rest. He's been with me to weddings, funerals, hotels, restaurants, church, and his favorite place - the movies. He even stood by my side on stage at the LuLaRoe national convention where I was a speaker. Our little guy Kekoa Li'ili'i (Koa) has been in classes, day care, and stays with Amy when he can't travel with us since he was 10-weeks old. Since becoming a Spirit Ranch student he has completed puppy, intermediate, intermediate adventure, and starts advanced this weekend. My Great Dane, Auggie, is the sweetest, goofiest, most lovable, tiny-dog-in-a-big-dog-body that I have ever had the pleasure of sharing my life with. I absolutely adore him! Auggie is from a rescue and got a rough start. From early on, he exhibited issues with anxiety and, after some online searching, I found Spirit Ranch. We did some private training with Amy and Megan and he made so much progress! He also completed several of the Spirit Ranch training classes and he is seriously the most well-trained, obedient, eager-to-please dog. Well, like everyone, our lives got busy and we didn't keep up our practice of socializing Auggie as much as we should. To top it off, we adopted another rescue, who came with her own set of issues (chiefly anxiety) that ultimately seem to feed Auggie's insecurities. Due to us not doing the work, the new dogs' anxiety, added to my own added worries about him, Auggie's issues have gotten progressively worse. When he is outside of his comfort zone he is shy, unsure of himself, anxious and displays aggressive, predatory behavior, especially towards women, children, and small dogs. It had gotten to the point that I just kept him at home or at his daycare (the one other place he seems to feel at home) and never had people over to the house. Of course, that just made things even worse. It was past time to call Amy. We went in for a consult and immediately agreed to begin an intensive boot camp. Auggie spent 4 weeks in boot camp at Amy's house and with the Spirit Ranch family. He came home a changed dog!!! Before he left, I had a dog that nipped at a woman for saying something to him as he walked by, growled and nipped at my female friends, exhibited predatory behavior towards dogs and women, and absolutely went berserk around children. He has been home for about a week now and I have take him to Woofstock, the car wash waiting room, Home Depot, Southern Ag, and all around busy shopping center sidewalks. Not one single growl at anyone. He seems happy and confident while he's out - a huge change for him. While he was gone, Amy sent lots of amazing photos and updates about Auggie and I really felt like she made him part of her family. He ADORES Amy and that is high praise as he doesn't give his heart to just anyone. She took him absolutely everywhere to socialize him and he spent tons of time around Amy's amazingly patient daughter so he could get used to being around kids. I felt like he was in great hands and, although I missed him terribly, I didn't worry about him. I am so excited that Auggie can go out and about now and enjoy himself. I don't kid myself that we need to keep up the work in the future but I am beyond happy with his time at the Spirit Ranch boot camp. People who know me know that my dogs are a big priority to me. I put a lot of time and research into decisions I make for them and I did not take the decision to send him to boot camp lightly. In the past, I have completed dog training at many places in Tulsa but Spirit Ranch is by far the best, in my opinion. I really appreciate the fact that training focuses on positive reinforcement and the only training tools, besides praise and treats, we ever use are water bottles and scent collars. No shock collars or negative experiences that I feel would be a setback for a shy butterfly like my Augs. If you are looking for any type of training - from puppy kindergarten to advanced courses - look no further than Spirit Ranch. If you are experiencing behavioral issues with your dog the absolute best decision you can make for you and your dog is to take him/her into a consult with Amy. You will not regret it. read more

This place is is AWESOME! The entire staff is friendly and extremely helpful. My chocolate lab Fenway has learned so much ( completed puppy school and intermediate school). We start adventure school in Aug. SPIRIT RANCH does a great job at making sure we (owners) understand how to properly practice what we learned in class. We are presently going here and we love it! Spirit uses respect and positive reinforcement as the primary motivators for training (at basic levels). We previously tried a competitor, & I didn't like Tip Top because of the shock collar. My dogs didn't understand why they were getting shocked (negative reinforcement) and ended up not wanting to do normal things like go outside because they affiliated being outside in their own backyard with training (getting shocked). If you have a praise or food motivated pup, and unless your dog is going to hurt themselves like run out in the street or chase cars, positive reinforcement and Spirit Ranch is absolutely the way to go. We have also used Spirit Ranch for in-Home dog sitting while we're out of town. With our 3 dogs, this is ideal. Spirit Ranch does background checks on all their sitters, & has a strict set of rules for them to abide by which management enforced with surprise visits. Before the sitter comes to stay, he/she will come by for an intro to make sure your pups know and are comfortable with them. Spirit Ranch also asks for a wealth of detailed instruction and health information, which I appreciate. We have two dogs, and between them we have taken the Puppy/Beginner class, Intermediate, Click a Trick, and Intermediate Adventure class. Each class is relaxed so it's a great way to work with your dog and have fun at the same time! We have had fantastic experiences with Spirit Ranch Professional Dog Training! Our golden doodle attended their 2-week boot camp over the summer. She loved her trainer and learned so much! We were very pleased with her ability to follow commands upon her return, and her trainer "trained" us upon her return so that she could retain what she learned. Our doodle loves going there for "Doggy Day Out". She always runs in excited to be there. She has been groomed twice there, and the groomer does a super job. She always asks what we want done, and delivers! I wish I could leave a better review. I've been dropping my pup off here since the summer when we moved from out of state. The facilities are lovely and the staff seems to really enjoy spending the days with the pups they take care of. Unfortunately, I've been frustrated by the level of customer service. Each staff member offers a different policy that changes by the day. Some say the pups should wear neck collars and others the next day say a harness is fine. They prefer that you call the day before but have always indicated that day of is fine but this week when I did that, it was a problem. I always call before drop off but easily 9/10 times, no one ever picks up the phone. A few weeks ago they shut down unexpectedly because sick staff members but they didn't change their voicemail to indicate that. They also didn't email customers to left them know, citing that they do not keep a contact list for their customers. My biggest concern, however, is the blatant disregard of this business to follow the mask mandate. Nearly every time I've been in, the staff has not been wearing masks, this includes the small front area when dealing with customers, not just the day care room. I've indicated my frustration before and have noted another customer wait outside during pick up but I've seen continued disregard of the law, the safety of their customers and staff, and the entire community. read more

the training with Ester has been fantastic- she's confident, patient and explains everything so well! the financial aspect isn't so great - you have to pay in order to get a reservation (?!)- for a class that may not start for a month. and two out of three times, the class was postponed so your money-for-services-not rendered is tied up for even longer! one time I paid for a reservation but the class was full- only told after they took my money- had to wait for the next class! doesn't seem right to me...but Ester is great! read more

Since he is my first dog I didn't know anything about training him, so I knew I needed to find a place. I'm so happy I found Spirit Ranch! I enrolled him in the beginner class. When I first enrolled I was a little nervous to get started. My trainer was Megan and she is AMAZING! She made me feel super comfortable and reassured me I was training Otis properly and he was picking up everything. She even stayed after class for a bit to answer some questions and to talk about our babies. As the course went on Otis was listening more and getting the hang of it all. By the end of graduation Otis was doing it all and had made some new friends. I am already enrolling him in the next training and a couple days of doggy daycare. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY RUDE STAFF. Last week I called Spirit Ranch to inquire about their dog daycare services. I was told that I needed to fill out paperwork first and then they would need to perform a personality assessment in order to see if my dog was acceptable for dog daycare. I filled out the paperwork, which took at least 20 minutes and emailed it on Thursday morning. Amy, the owner, wrote me back and said that someone would call me on Friday to set up an assessment. By Monday, no one had called me so I called and their employee, Cody, told me to bring her in on Wednesday morning for an hour long assessment. Today, I dropped her off at 9AM and the woman working said that the assessment would actually take 3-4 hours. I said that was fine but I had meetings all day and that they would need to call me and tell me when to come pick up my dog. By 2PM no one from Sprit Ranch had contacted me so I called them. They told me that she was doing great and that I could come pick her up when I got off of work at 5PM. When I arrived at 5PM, their staff did not tell me whether or not she passed the exam, just that "she did great" and then asked me to pay for a full day of dog daycare in addition to whatever dog daycare package I wanted to purchase. At no point during any of my communication with any of their employees did they tell me that I would have to pay for the assessment. I explained to the employee that this payment for the day was a surprise to me and that at no point was payment for the assessment communicated to me. The employee was non apologetic and called her boss and made me wait while she talked on the phone with her for more than 5 minutes. She then asked me the same questions over and over again and explained to me that the dog had spent the day there, not acknowledging the inconsistency of communication of when I should pick my dog up and the fact that at no point did anyone mention anything about payment. The employee was rude and argumentative and I decided that I would not be using their services and that I would pay for the day just so I could leave the unpleasant situation. In the end, the "assessment" meant absolutely nothing as I did not hear anything about whether or not she passed and I felt taken advantage of for having to pay for a service that I did not ask for. I had hoped to send my dog to Spirit Ranch for weekly dog daycare but now I will absolutely not use any of their services. I regret that I paid for the day of dogcare because I realize now it was unethical and wrong for them to charge me for it. I will instead simply use the dog daycare services at Paws on Pearl, which is less than .5 miles away from Spirit Ranch. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. read more

Spirit ranch has been a home away from home for our pup! We have completed 3 training courses (beginner, intermediate and intermediate adventures) with them, attend doggy daycare 2-3x/week, go to the groomer there, and have been had an exceptional experience with each class/visit! Amy, the owner, goes above and beyond with our dog. He is a very large pup (80 lbs. at 11 months) and does not always know his size- she has taught him how to play appropriately with every sized animal and human. You can tell that Amy is genuinely one of our dog's favorite people! Their groomers, Jules and Shea, are also wonderful at their job. Our pup is a doodle and has very complicated hair and they are knowledgable and informative, even calling to give you updates/ask questions throughout the day of the groom to make sure you have the best experience. Every person that works the doggy daycare is great as well! Getting our dog in and out the door in a timely and safe manner, even during their busiest times. Our dog and we can't imagine not having having Spirit Ranch! read more

Giving them 1 star is generous. I never write reviews My sister was trying to get a refund for a service that she never used for over 6 months. The owner is unreliable and doesn't handle her business with honor or integrity. My sister had to pay $50 for a return fee and $25 in order to cancel a check that was "mailed" to her and she never received, when it doesn't say anywhere in their contract that this would be a penalty of choosing not to utilize services that are signed up for. Let me clarify that she canceled her training class the day after she signed up, for individual training that she hadn't even received a call to schedule yet. I understand that most businesses are struggling financially due to COVID-19, but in my opinion, integrity running your business far outweighs stealing from your customers in order to pay the bills. I do not recommend Spirit Ranch, will not be doing so to anyone I know in Tulsa, and I would never trust to leave my dog with them. read more

I have a German Shepherd who needed some training so I called Spirit Ranch, no answer. So I went online website and found they have different pkgs online for someone to come to our house to work on obedience training just the basics I explained to them this is what I need done they said no problem so they sent a young girl out who apparently had no experience with GSD. Which I had already explained to them so when she gets to our house for a entire 20 min she explains that we need to spend more money and that we needed to meet with Amy the owner she's well experienced blah blah!! So she left. Amy wanted us to spend a lot more money which we didn't have an issue with just we didn't have time to devote to that much at this point. So I asked for a refund I've been fighting with them for months begging for a refund. Oh finally after months AMY says she sent the check which was a stall tactic she didn't so finally someone drops by today with a $118 check when I paid $350.00 please do not use them they lie, they badger for more money which is ridiculous they shouldn't let people pay online then not do the job and keep their money! Their thieves! I wouldn't trust my baby with them. BEWARE OF NOT GETTING WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Trying to decide if I will take them to small claims court for the remainder plus more of my money that they refuse to pay! read more

Spirit Ranch has been a great experience for my husband and I with our new chocolate lab puppy. I had no experience with labs and our puppy was more than the usual energy crazed mutt. Layla loves life and everything in it and can't get enough. I thought we would have to drop group training due to her incredible zest for everything. It was quite difficult to restrain her without hurting her. The owner/trainer was quick with the gentle leader and how to use it and we were well on our way. Amy helped us over the weeks to understand her and work with her and give us the confidence to take her places. We plan to continue the training through to CGC and use the doggy daycare too. I was referred to Spirit Ranch Training by a friend who had a dog with similar behavior issues as mine. Before we could have a training session I had to prepay for a pack order session ($200+). The training session went fine but after that, Spirit Ranch dropped the ball. My trainer never re-connected with us for check-ins even though when I asked about this at a later time, all trainers are suppose to keep logs of all client interactions. I checked in with them after 6 months and asked when we would have the pack order session that I had to prepay for, they stated I needed to keep training my dog before we could hold the session. I asked if they could tell me at what point my dog will be trained enough for the pack order session, but they were not able to provide a quantified answer. Rounding the corner on 12 months and still no pack-order session, I complained about the service provided and requested a refund of the session as I had no intention of continuing to work with Spirit Ranch. They advised they will perform an in-house audit and rectify the situation with a reply in 30 days. It's been 6 weeks since they stated they would start the audit. At this point, I'm not expecting them to follow thru. And my friend who referred the company, their dog's behavioral issues have not improved the two years they've worked with Spirit Ranch. I do not recommend this company. Dog training is expensive, time consuming and requires great communication between the trainer, owner and dog.
