She offered no help except to slam a piece of paper on the counter in front of me that said "No returns" . So now one of my grandsons is without a Christmas present. I asked a lot of questions and he was very helpful, even explaining that he was unpacking a shipment of stickers and could show me more if I wanted to browse. Loved their Jekyll Island patch ($6) which is a fun souvenir and a way to fund the JI Authority stewarding the island. JI logo items are priced as expected for a pro shop/souvenir place. Shirts about $38, hats $25, etc. They offer fishing gear but it's more Orvis and less RealTree. Honestly in all my years visiting the island, I have yet to see preppy dudes fishing. True, they may head out from the dock on a deep sea trip, and club guests may need to pop in and shop, but the fisherpeople we have met are campers catching dinner, locals doing the same, or folks from an hour or so in all directions, coming with a cooler to catch a day's haul for a month's sustenance. I see where the Authority wants Jekyll to head for the dollars, but it's at the expense of the diversity and appeal to folks of certain economic demographics. But I guess if the Orvis set can support this shop then great (my husband did fly and reel fishing with plenty of Orvis gear, but in retrospect, it wasn't necessary to catch a fish). Pier Road Outfitters is a mix of JI souvenirs, JI logo active wear, and some basic fishing supplies. It is not as extensive as the tackle shop at Clam Creek, which is bigger, and caters a lot more to practical needs for all things fishing. Pier Road Outfitters is a handy stop to find a souvenir that is also high enough quality active gear you would want to wear as part of your wardrobe, so function-meets-style-meets-JI memories.

This store is owned and operated by JI Authority, so your purchases support the island. While the Lilly Pulitzer clothing they carry is loud and bougie, the staff is super genial and down to earth. Note that the Pulitzer family once owned this building, so the brand presence is appropriate! Woven JEKYLL sweaters and very cute JEKYLL beach towels are two items I may have to stop back and buy. I love the luxury boutique feel of the shop, which takes up the full first floor of a historic cottage (with a long history but most famous for its use as the historic resort infirmary). Faux wicker chairs are super comfortable on the welcoming porch if you need shade and a sit after a long walk. Located at the parking access entrance in the Historic District.
