Splashomania - After a few hours of splash mob - Festivals Near Me - Sunnyvale, California

Took multiple family friends with kids and we all had fun overall. Music was cool and rain & color combo was insane! I would say it wasn't "family friendly" or kids safe event - we didn't see any dry/kids area as it advertised and I needed to guard my kid while dancing or getting colors in the crowd. Somebody elbowed my kid's face pretty hard and it was the low point of the event. It was also 'amazing' that adults were so desperate to get colors for themselves they were pushing kids waiting in the front. wow, really. read more

Overall the event was fun. Music, colors, artificial rain, friendly people, and great official photographers! 2 things that could be improved: Make it easier to pick up colors. By far the best holi in US. Took me down in memory lanes when I was kid and used to have a soaking wet holi. It was that kind of holi. Aditya's group's flash mob was amazing. Their efforts to involve crowd were condemnable, it felt right at home. Food arrangements could have been better. It lacked management and holi sweets and snacks. There was no clear markation about VIP line and normal line. I stood for 15 minutes in a line only to be told that that was not a VIP line. But they made up with their friendly attitude and gave me preference in VIP line and I did not have to wait there and got the food right away. Definitely going back again next year... read more

This was the first time I've ever heard of the Holi festival. From what I gathered, Holi is the celebration of color. Right when you get in, people throw powdered color on you to get you into the mood. I loved this since it didn't give me a chance to stand on the outside border of the party, deciding if I wanted to get dirty or not. They had dj's playing Bollywood music with all kinds of beats from Indian Vocal Trance, to Drum and Bass and Indian HipHop. They even threw some JayZ Knightrider in the mix! As you're dancing, they had these sprinklers in the air that sprayed water down on you like rain. The whole time, people are throwing powdered color on each other. Everyone is SO welcoming. We're not Indian, but the people there welcomed us with open arms, and even showed us a bunch of Bollywood dance steps! LOVE Preet the mostest! This was the most fun I've had in a long time, where I just felt like a kid again. -1 star for the food court as there was only ONE vendor. No samosas as advertised, and for the price, the size of the meal you got was TINY. -1 star for advertising indoor warm rain water and seperate room for colored paint. Everything was outdoors, and had I planned for an outdoor event, I would have dressed warmer! A great thing to add on the website would be a "how to prepare for Holi" for those that are unfamiliar with the culture, such as "bring a change of clothes, bring towels, put olive oil in your hair so the next day your scalp isn't pink....etc". Overall I had a blast, and can't wait for the next one. I really wish they served alcohol there though, because that would put it over the top! read more

Indian festival celebrated with Indian josh ;) ..did not miss India much this festival .. colors were as good and so was the arrangement ..This festival went as good as can be when in US.. DJ+artificial rain + colors+ dance performance..what else is needed !! though "pakke" colors arent allowed in US but playing with simple gulal was as colorful. I'd have loved it even more if there were some more arrangements of playing with water so we cud play with our "pichkary" and cud have thrown water on people rather than just colors :) .. it was exciting to see that people from other countries (non Indians) were enjoying this festival like us. playing with everyone there was fun in itself..m glad that I get regular mails from livingsocial or I'd have not known about this Splashomania. loved it ! Outstanding! Well-run event with lots of families and color and dancing in the rain (provided). The music was bouncing and energetic. The site was small enough that no one felt isolated, and everyone talked and danced, or at least pelted each other with Red, yellow, blue, and green. Nice salsa (!) dance troupe did a nice fusion set, and there was, for lack of a better term, Indian line-dancing: simple steps repeated so everyone in the dance area could gent into the pattern. We brought plastic garbage bags as suggested, but some changing tents would have been welcome. read more

Incredible time at our very first Holi. People were incredibly friendly, wonderful spirit and energy, great colors, everyone interacting, laughing, throwing paint (of course), dancing in the rain.... This was my first time going to SplashOmania and I thought it was fun. I didn't know what to expect so I looked on the website to prepare for the festival. My friend found this event on living social. The event was very organize and fun. I stayed away from the water but the paint was cool. Everyone got into the fun. The music was mixture of bollywood and little hip hop. My only negative was the food court. Everything was looked over priced and small. Didn't have Google square to accept credit card. So we ended up leaving to go a restaurant. read more

Ever since I have moved to Bay Area I have always attended Stanford (Asha) holi party, though I always had fun but than always use to miss the major fun piece of holi which comes with the wet factor...... So I am really glad that Splashomania has started which can provide us the complete experience of a holi. Also the DJ was really good and throughout the party all the songs were keeping the mood up. I only reason I am not giving 5 star here is because I know this year it was the first time and consering that they have done a great job though going forward there is some scope of improvement from on the timing of the event, but stating that I am booked for next year and would recommend it strongly.... read more

Well organized and fun event . Would prefer colors to be available little easier . One color counter became too busy and it was difficult to get colors . It was OK. Was way too crowded especially near the color stands. There wasn't really a "dry zone", all areas were wet. I was there for several hours and didn't see any "flash mob" dances. The process of giving "unlimited color" was terrible, where they gave you a little in your hand , causing massive crowds near the location where they were distributing color. For the charge of the event they could have easily given every ticket holder 2-3 bags of color , making it significantly more manageable and fun. It got really claustrophobic. Music was good. The Bay hosts several Holi events this time of year, Splashomania is certainly the most organized and family friendly! The event space had lots of options; powder stations, rain/splash area, dry area, and even a kids area. If you wanted to stay dry you could but if you wanted to dance away the day underneath the sprinkler you could! The staff and security were friendly and into the celebration as well. Last year we had relatives over from the east coast and we wanted them to see what Holi was like in the bay area and we are so glad we decided to take them to Splashomania. The energy and spirit of the event and the dancers was unbeatable! There were plenty of colors and the music was phenomenal! Total paisa wasool! This was A.Mazing! I had a great time. The DJ played all my favorite Bollywood, Punjabi and Bhangra tunes. The colors were awesome. The rain was magnificent. I was a little disappointed with the food court: Mango Lassi, Goat curry, Samosa Chaat. I think there was one or two more items, but small portion sizes and very limited variety. Had so much fun. We are not Indian but have heard about the Holi Spring Festival. We got colored right away and swept up in the enthusiasm. Even the puddles were fun! Some suggestions for next year: The "at event" ticket prices were too expensive! Need to still have a price for children and adults and students, the one price for all was too much. Bigger and better signage all over! Couldn't fine the food, couldn't fine the restrooms. I went to 3 tables before I was finally directed to the correct one to get wristbands, food tickets, etc. And the food tents were a bit confusing at first... about what food to get where. Some of us didn't know there were veg and non-veg choices. More "color tables", break it up so not so crowded at each table. And put some of the color tables in dryer areas for those who don't want to get wet. Maybe spread out to a bigger area so there is a definite wet and dry area. Saw people slipping in the water when running to a color table. Best to keep it further from the water. More organization for the food court. The tickets were a great idea, but a bit confusing with some of them not having denominations listed on them. For example there were $1 tickets, and the $5 tickets were "Admit One". The music was fantastic, the people friendly, happy and enthusiastic. Overall a great event!!!! Thank you! And thank you to Fuze for providing free drinks and spin art!!!!!! This was the first time I heard of Holi Day... I was invited last minute by a couple of friends and decided I'd go. Glad I did, my daughter and I had a great time. The throwing of colored powder was awesome. Even if you didn't want to get dirty with color, you had no choice as that was the first thing they did when entering the event. Splashomania 2011 was an awesome dance orgy to Bollywood music in rain-technics and color. Enthusiasm and fun was contagious. I saw patrons formerly known as non-dancers even bust a move with the encouragement and talent of staff and others. If you didn't come with friends you'll meet some there watching, listening, dye splattering, and dancing. It's a family oriented event. Kids were given a separate supervised area to play with dyes and squirt guns. Away from the action wholesome Indian food was sold at a separate dining area where one could rest. Special plus were the small things staff thought of to provide such as a disposable poncho to wear there or on the way home to protect your car seats from your damp, stained but delighted self. read more

I had a total blast at this event. I especially enjoyed the DJ, far more than the uber repetitive remixes at other Holi celebrations I've been to. The people in charge were really friendly, and the location was great. The only things that could have been improved were better drainage of the water runoff and warmer weather, but I doubt Gurus of Dance has the power to change these things. Once you got wet, you really needed to keep dancing, and that's not a bad thing. I wore a wetsuit, which really kept me more comfortable. read more

When folks in India are so considerate towards not using and wasting water during Holi, why on earth would you waste water in drought hit CA. This is absolute wastage of water. Be it once in one hour or once in 3 hours. WATER IS WATER. Would one be even thirsty for one hour? read more
