Split Rail is tucked along the water, below dowtown, near where the marinas end. It makes a nice setting for sipping a brew in the beer garden, especially if the sun has set enough for shade to stretch over your table. Don't go too late, though: SRB closes at 5 Mon.-Thur., 7 on Fri-Sat. The beer selection isn't large--Split Rail brews four ales, three of which were available when we visited--a copper lager, an amber, and a stout. We liked the lager best. It was hazy in appearance with good body and a short kick of hops at the end. We picked up a bottle to take back to camp. The stout was good too, lots of coffee and cocoa notes, if a little thin overall. The amber wasn't bad, though a bit overmalted. Do wish we'd had a chance to try the hawberry ale. The beers, especially the amber and stout, while enjoyable, did have a yeastiness I associate with microbreweries or homebrewers that aren't quite "there" yet. But another visit certainly isn't out of the question. read more

Second time at this wonderful brewery. Lovely location. Manitoulin Gold Pilsner and Copper are very, very good beers. Highly recommend. Would love it if a food truck could be located nearby...hint hint read more

Very friendly staff with great beers. Doesn't serve food, but they allowed us to take pizzas from Buoy's, across the road! Try the 3 flight beer. Kids loved the local soda, even though they usually don't like bubbly stuff. read more

Super cute! I had a pint of their copper lager and it was delish. My bro had the stout and Amber ale and enjoyed them both. I think this place is totally worth checking out and the view is lovely. It's really nice to go to places with dog friendly patios. The dude working there made a point of coming out to offer my pooch fresh water. I would return. read more

Stopped here after hiking Cup and Saucer and a great convo w/ Lillian. This was my first beer in 6 months. The atmosphere is nice, my flight was enjoyable. The manager whose name escapes me was super great and loved hearing about our 3400 mile road trip that landed us here. Gave us an after-hours tour and was very generous with his time. The view of Gore Bay is quite nice. About a 15 minute drive from Bridal Veil Falls. I know it's not their fault but I am knocking star off because the pizza truck lady in the parking lot was a total grump. Almost seemed annoyed by our business. I think we paid something nutty like $40 for three 12-inch pizzas. They were very tasty. Gorgeous large doe munching grass nearby while we ate and drank. Great conversation with the hops farmer who happened to swing by during our visit. Recommend! read more

Finally managed to visit split rail this time around. They were handing out free samples of 2 of their brews. The samples tasted real good and it was professionally made. The Management and staff was very friendly, respectful and helpful and the medium sized tasting room was clean, well organized and maintained. read more
