We have all three had massages before, but this was by far the most wonderful, relaxing, and therapeutic experience that any one of us has had. I'm a car guy, so I think of things like a "mechanics touch", wherein a person has to have enough strength to tighten bolts without breaking them, adjust settings to the proper tension, etc. It takes a special person to be able to sense that level of touch. This applies to a massage as well. I've had massages that were "deep tissue" quote un-quote, and all they did was hurt. I didn't want to go back and get another one. Cyndi provided not only a strong and firm touch, but followed through with a balanced approach to her massage technique throughout the hour time frame. She included a touch of spa experience, in whuch she utilized hot towels, therapeutic oils, and even provided extra support via a wedge on the massage table to provide extra support for my wife's tender back. Cindy customized the experience based on not only on her years of experience, but communication and interaction with each person on an individual basis. We have relatives in the Coeur d'Alene area, so we were visiting this weekend anyway. While we live in the Tri-Cities, we will certainly travel to enjoy a massage in the future as well. I scheduled for a two hour massage via their website the night before. I booked with April who I had booked with once previously a long time ago. I didn't care for her demeanor then either but I wrote it off as a fluke and maybe me being oversensitive. Fast forward to today... I check in over 15 minutes early and the receptionist politely relays a request from April to ask me if I would consider reducing my session to a 90 minute instead of the 2 hours that I booked. Reason why? Because she was worried that me getting a 2 hour massage would possibly encroach on the time of her client following me because of the time it takes to transition between clients. WTF?! I replied, "I'd rather not. I requested 2 hours and that's what I'd prefer to receive." The receptionist was 100% understanding and very professional about it. I then remembered my last session with April and decided, "...you know what, I'll just schedule tomorrow with someone else." which I did. The receptionist was extremely polite, professional and very apologetic. I could tell that she was mildly uncomfortable even making the request to begin with. I told her that she should definitely relay my displeasure to April because in my words, "...that sounds like a her problem not a me problem if she can't properly manage her transition time between clients." The receptionist agreed and mentioned that she already intended to let the manager know about the incident. Again, I USUALLY have a great experience at Elements...but I'm 2 for 2 with April for having a less than pleasant experience. I will continue to come to Elements in the valley, but April is definitely a never again...or ANY therapist that requests that I sacrifice time off of a scheduled session due to their own poor time management between clients. I had been experiencing severe back and neck pain for months. I tried massage therapy and…read morestretching but they weren't helping. My massage therapist and my wife both mentioned that I should try a chiropractor but I have always been skeptical of having someone crack my joints and contort my body in odd ways. I was almost resolved to the fact that I was going to just live with the pain when my wife told me she found a place that I needed to try and that she had already made an appointment. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by Randi and she promptly took me back to a room where Dr. Shiplet met with me. I was shocked to hear that she wasn't going to do anything other than take some measurements and x-rays on the first visit. She didn't want to start manipulating me without knowing exactly what was going on inside and I really appreciated that! She also spent a great deal of time explaining the process she uses to calm my anxiety. I arrived to my second visit with apprehension, but was quickly amazed by what Dr. Shiplet showed me in my x-rays. My spine and shoulders were all messed up on the inside but she assured me that she could help me out. Well, long story short, I was a little confused as to how she is able to manipulate my upper cervical spine with no pain, no cracking, and just a gentle massaging action with her hand. I left the office feeling about the same as when I entered, but a few hours later I could really tell that my neck and back were loosening up and my pain level decreased dramatically! After a couple visits I felt wonderful and have only had minor issues when sitting too long and not stretching enough. My massage therapist has noticed a dramatic difference and also told me that I look taller than I did before. I guess being able to stand up straight will do that for you! I HIGHLY recommend calling Randi to make an appointment with Dr. Shiplet. Take it from a guy who has been very skeptical of the chiropractic community: This is not your typical chiropractor and should not even be put into the same category. Dr. Kim Shiplet is honest, friendly, fair, will take the time necessary to discuss your options, and her gentle manipulation will make you a believer too!
