Over the years it has expanded to not only fit in with the times, but to adapt to every need possible. The leisure centre has much to offer such as two swimming pools; one large one for adults and a smaller one for children and teaching swimming lessons. Also within the centre is a large sports hall for football fanatics for 5 a side football as well as badminton, basketball and many other activities. The fitness suite is brilliant. Its all brand new and up to date and has over 100 stations and its nice and cool to so you don't get too warm when your working them muscles! Outside they have a fantastic synthetic turf ground for 6 a side football which is popular with many people. Not only that but they have dance studios, squash courts, spas, saunas and a relaxation area!! It is amazing. Once all the fields were taken, even if we had booked one and we were there on time, yet no one was there to check that players were respecting their times. Lockers are provided to drop your stuff, but you have to pay 20p to use one. I considered signing to Sugden just after moving to Manchester because it's very close to uni. Therefore I took their gym induction to give a look at the place and at the machines. The gym is ok, not very big to tell the truth. I was actually rather disappointed with the induction itself, cause it lasted only five minutes, the instructor just hastily showed us the rooms, we didn't even have time to try any machines. Also, we were more than ten people taking the induction, and I was expecting something more serious and personalized since I was paying for it.

There are loads of sports halls and courts and stuff here, so lots of space to do whatever sport you're into - be that squash, badminton, basketball, circuit training, etc. If you're playing badminton like we do, then it costs just over a fiver to hire a court for an hour once you're a member. This isn't too expensive, especially when it's split between the two of us. The one thing that annoys me here just a tiny bit is the fact that you have to pay 20p for a locker and you don't get it back. It's quite cheeky to get you to pay for the privilege of having your stuff safe whilst you're exercising. Surely, after membership and court hire, that should just be a given.

I entered the large unisex changing room....and noted the communal showers which face the tiny paddling pool...where everyone can watch you take a shower...great...not quite the concentration camp ones..but... At this time in the morning you can expect a lot of the pensioners , who are split into three lanes...the slow, medium and fast paced swimmers.Self consciously when entering the pool I thought I would play it safe and start off in the slow lane.. ..the game here is to swim clockwise without crashing into another swimmer, or drown by choking on their backsplash .. The pool to say the least is small and crowded... After a few tries, I tried to convince myself,,''its so cheap. £16 a month for swimming and the gym''... I asked for a tour,,, I was led to the most pokey gym, that contained archaic equipment, with the stench of encapsulated sweat... the ''spa/ Jacuzzi'' stung my eyes , and this was stood a good ten paces away...due to the high chlorine content... My advise is perhaps chance the swimming pool after 9am, as it becomes emptier..however the size of the gym is not great and everything looks worn....also their opening hours do not suit my needs (7am to 22:00 Monday to Friday and 9:00-17:00 weekends.....oh and you have to take a one hour induction before they allow you to use their gym..... I've joined the gym at my workplace instead...

The Tennis club is year round and I believe the membership is very competitive compared to other clubs around, however the courts aren't brilliant and you do pay for what you get.
