I was referred by one of my doctor's. I met Ethan at Sportspectrum. He was so kind and understanding. He measured my feet and brought out shoes that the doctor wanted. I tried on several pairs as we visited. Ethan asked several questions to get the best shoe and fit. After trying on several pairs I decided on one that seemed to be the best choice. It was the first pair that Ethan brought out! He actually chose this shoe himself. I will be returning to get another pair soon. Great, running, swimming, triathalon, and soccer store. Great, large shoe selection including several extinct shoe options. All of my visits are involved with packet pick-up for the River Cities Triathalon, which includes a fantastic sidewalk sale (that I always walk away with several purchases). Probably the best host site for any race I've done. Recommend their races and recommend their store. read more

My overall impression of Sport Spectrum is fine, decent prices, average selection. My 2 star rating is derived for two reasons. Employees, and store hours. In my experience the store is not open consistently. Want to go at 915 on a Saturday (closed)... how about 615 on a Tuesday (closed) and to make matters worse when you arrive, park, walk to the door and pull on the locked door you have 4 or 5 employees look at you and by the looks on their faces... they may as well flip you off! I've visited the store three times... I've been in the store once. This morning was my last attempt. I would rather buy local but after all the hassle just to get in the place it's much simpler to order off line and not drive across town to a locked door. My advice is if you want to shop at Sport Spectrum... call ahead to make sure the're open! read more

This place is pricey, but I have terrible feet and I have a difficult time finding shoes on my own. They have incredible customer service. The associates are knowledgeable and were quick to alleviate concerns. With their assistance, I was finally able to find a shoe that I can wear. Plus, they have a good return policy. I'm glad as I can be finicky when I choose shoes. I'm sure I'll be back to buy my next pair. read more

I received excellent assistance both of the times I've been in this store. No problem picking up the race packets and very friendly, knowledgeable about the race. The other time I visited, I got great help in picking out compression socks, recovery versus active/competitive. I've been pleased with my selections. I have rarely been to a business with worse customer service. The last two times I was there to pick up race packets, the guys behind the counter (two different men) were incredibly rude. On the first instance, I had to go look for someone to help me and when I asked the guy if he could get our packets, he responded with, 'If I have to.' This last time (for the evening Christmas fun run), the guy informed me that the shirt size I registered for weeks ago was sold out. When I asked how that could happen when I registered weeks ago, he replied 'If you don't pay when you register, you're not guaranteed a shirt.' I told him that the store didn't allow you to pay in advance for these races - you're required to pay when you pick up.' He replied, 'Yeah, whatever.' I was so disgusted. If anywhere else in town put together these races, I would never set foot in that store again. read more

Store was relatively empty but had to ask if there was anybody that could help me in the shoe department. Once the employee decided to quit giving the other employee behind the counter a back rub she could not have been less helpful. No sizes of the shoe I was looking for and brought out a size and a half too large and no suggestions as to a substitution. I will order online the next time I need any athletic wear. The prices are much cheaper and the customer service much better. read more

A great store with a fantastic staff! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about getting fitted for shoes or apparel. I came in with plantar fasciitis and got recommended to get fitted for shoes at this store. Got properly fitted and have been pain free for over a year with no problems and running half marathon distances. Lots of high quality brands that's hard to find in the area like Arcteryx, TNF, Patagonia, Cotopaxi, etc. Always had a good experience with the staff. The people who run this place are rude, not just at the store. But when they do the Firecracker 5k they play extremely obnoxious loud music either too early in the morning or too late at night in a extremely residential area. All of my neighbors complain. Dogs go insane, and the cops are almost always called when this goes on. The people who work there tell us to " suck it up". Besides that the store is always a mess, employees do not give you the time of day unless they know you have bought $500 or more with them before. I cannot wait until they get some competition and rid of some employees. read more

I am so happy that I found Sport Spectrum so quickly upon moving to Shreveport. The store is large, well stocked, brand savvy, and dynamic. The employees are knowledgeable and extraordinarily friendly. Their prices are also very fair. I am somewhat puzzled by any negative reviews. Let me start off by saying I try to buy local when I can, but not here. Sport Spectrum is the only game in town (have no clue how) and they act like it. Here is the breakdown: Employees: clueless, rude, and they act as if you should feel blessed by their "help". Know what you want and need because their teenagers can't and won't help you. You are a 12? How about a 13 it is all we have - no? Ok, bye! If you are there to pick up a race packet, good luck finding the one guy that can pass them out. While I am on the topic.... Races: if they bill it as a 5k this means the race will be anywhere between 2.8 or 3.5 miles, so don't get excited or depressed when you finish till you look at your garmin. You will be assaulted at the finish so they can get their timing chip- they stand at the line snippets in hand and block you from proceeding to a natural stop. Race managers are a joke, at the 2014 Barksdale mud run they threatened runners with race ejection if they lined up for the wrong non-competitive wave- apparently 35 people is too complicated for them to track. They milk organizations to death because they know that there is no one else in town and they are willing to bully you if you complain because somehow it is your fault. Let's compare the sport spectrum trail run to the Big Dog put on just a 45 min drive down the road put on by their closest competition (both 10 mile trail runs): $35 for sport spectrum (if you sign up early) you get a shirt, bitchy race managers, and regardless of what the sign up says, you may or may not get a finisher award- just depends on the mood of the store that year. Timing is always off and distance is anywhere from 9.5 to 10.5. The only good thing is they feed you at the end- make sure you get a beer though, the food is so dry you need it to wash it down. $35 for the Big Dog, put on by the local running group (not a store) and you get a shirt, socks, and a finisher medal. If you are slow and finish after all the medals are gone, they get you one in the mail ASAP. Their folks putting it on are awesome, they feed you homemade chili, a local brew, and brownies at the end. Anything else make Sport Spectrum look second rate? Oh yea the water stops have water Gatorade, gu, and a plethora of other refueling items. A runner couldn't complain. The distance was off by .09 according to my running app, which is acceptable as my sat coverage was spotty in denser areas I am sure. What I tell my friends? If you go to sport spectrum get the free run analysis (if anyone is there that will do it) then take the results and buy the recommended shoes somewhere else for much cheaper. Run their second rate races if you can't travel or find anything better. read more

I've found the employees to be very knowledgeable and helpful, and the store has a great selection of shoes and running apparel. The prices are high though. My complaints are for the way they put on 5Ks. 1) They are unorganized. At one of their biggest events: The Firecracker 5K, they don't organize the runners and walkers. Some people run, some jog, some walk. I had to walk about 30 yards in a huge crowd past the starting line before I could even start jogging, and had to jog around walkers. Same thing at their other big event: Turkey Trot. The website said they would send runners in shifts. Did not happen. I had to start jogging around walkers just about a tenth of a mile past the starting line. They don't even make a simple announcement asking people who are not going to run the entire time to move towards the back. 2) There are new chips now that can be fitted on the back of the number sheets and are lightweight, but I don't know why Sportspectrum doesn't use them. I'm not sure how they measure your time. They used these at the SaintsRun in new orleans. 3) The guy in charge of the music at these events loves country western and either A) thinks all 5K runners love it to, or B) He doesn't care that many people at these events may not love country as much as he does. Is it too much to ask for some variety? I hope in the future they actually organize these events better for those of us who want to run a 5k and improve our times. read more

I once called asking for closing time so that I could register for the Firecracker 5K, and when I arrived 29 minutes from closing time, I was told that race registration actually closed 30 minutes before closing time, and I was too late to register. Completely unhelpful staff. read more

Today, I went to return a pair of injini toe socks I had purchased for my husband. He had tried them on with his vibrams and did not like the way they looked. We were going to buy the same socks in grey. The sales associate told me they had lint on them and she wouldn't accept the return. I think thats ridiculous and shows bad business. I have been to sportspectrum a handful of times and have consistently been treated poorly. It seems like they think they are better than the world. The last time I was in I was looking for a few specific items and after wandering helplessly for awhile, finally asked someone where I could find the things. He did answer correctly, without looking up from his magazine. Shortly after, a lady I assume must be a manager/assistant manager walked by and asked if I needed help. I answered, "yes I actually do," and as I was saying this she kept walking away and quickly ducked in a door in the back of the store. I guess she didn't really care if I needed help. On top of their lack of service, their prices are outrageous. I, like some of the others who posted, like to spend my money locally but this store just isn't worth supporting. read more

Sports Spectrum used to be outstanding. Unfortunately, they are the only show in NW Louisiana for races. I've ran 5 races in the past year. One was mis-measured (I don't run a 5k in 19 minutes!), one was mis/poorly-marked (that's right, we ALL missed the turn...), and on one occasion, the time AND location of the race was changed, and they made no attempt to contact those who signed up (at least none of the 5 people I was with). It pains me to write this - their races were one of the things I was REALLY looking forward to when I moved back, but they've simply lost their magic. As others have written, customer service in the store is abysmal, though I havn't experienced the inconsistent hours one mentioned. I brought my concerns to the store manager, and he raised his voice enough that my wife could hear him all the way at the front of the store. Sorry pal, you've seen my last dollar. read more

My wife and I went into the store expecting to buy us both a pair of shoes. We both wandered around for several minutes without anyone asking if we needed help. When an employee finally helped my wife, he seemed put out. She told him that she was having trouble finding shoes for support for her plantar fasciitis. In the meantime, myself and another customer were needing help finding shoes. After Ramon finished helping my wife, he said he would take her shoes to the counter and be back. My wife and I waited, along with the other gentleman, but neither he nor any other employee returned to help. We went to the counter to pay for my wife's shoes, and there we found Ramon and two other female employees flirting. Annoyed, I told Ramon that you just lost a sale. I was going to buy some shoes, but you never returned like you said that you would. Soon after, both Ramon and one of the female employees scurried off, and the other rang up the single pair of shoes without even looking at us. I guess their markup is so high, that they don't need to make multiple shoe sales. read more
