Used Sporty's for years. Used to be a reasonable/dependable source for our plane supplies. I will not order from them unless I have no other alternative. Shipping costs are crazy high and unless you are willing to wait a ridiculous length of time you are forced to pay extra for expedited shipping. Otherwise it is "slow boat"......7 days or more to travel 2 states. Products are premium plus pricing and delivered costs simply make it worse. Owning a plane is never cheap....acknowledged. Wish Sporty's had the same vision they had years ago. Some competition in this market would go a long way! read more

Sure somethings can be pricey, but this is aviation what is cheap? Do they have inexpensive things yes, they have free hotdogs on Saturday. Will I come back or order online. Yes to both. I ordered nearly $300 of merchandise on July 28. The order was confirmed and I received an email on the 29 which said I would receive my order by 8-5-21. On 8-10-21 I have yet to receive my order. I just called and spoke with Sporty's customer service and they told me that my order has been sitting in a city 70 miles away and will be there until FEDEX has a full truck that will deliver to my area. Sporty's had no idea when it would be shipped from where it is sitting. They told me unless you choose overnight or 2 day shipping, it will go by ground and you will get it whenever it arrives. I ordered the Honeycomb Bravo throttle quadrant from Sporty's back in March. I was well aware it was back-ordered until July when I ordered it. When I placed my order, I was told it would ship on 7/1. I never received any communication with shipping info or delays. Their customer service chat doesn't work. I emailed and received no response. I called customer service and they told me it wouldn't ship until November. If they had kept me apprised of the delays or shipping info, I would have kept my order. Forget them. They used to be very good, but I've been getting really bad customer service recently. I bought their online G1000 course (for Garmin Glass Cockpit training) last year and needed to access it this week for a club checkout. I found that Sporty's changed their website to require different login information than I used previously. No big deal except that the website is not accepting my password and the password reset form isn't working. I called during their business hours (the 1-800-sportys number) and got a lady named "Winnie" or "Whitney" who was super short with me. She told me that I needed to call a different phone number for account assistance. I didn't understand her clearly so I ended up telling her (nicely) that it was okay to transfer me. She snapped at me saying that she couldn't transfer me and that I had to call the phone number myself. I told her sorry for the misunderstanding and asked for the number. The phone number she gave me didn't work. I finally reached someone on Sporty's chat who helped reset my account, though that took about 15 minutes. At least they were nice on the chat. Long story short, the courses are good so hence the 4 stars, but not so good that I care to deal with confusing customer service. I can purchase my courses from King Schools or other sources and my pilot products I'll be buying from Amazon.com from now on. read more

The customer service from Sporty's is exceptional, selection is great, prices are reasonable... you really can't go wrong with them. Sporty's sells an absolute crap-load of stuff. If you can't ship to a PO Box, then WHY THE *#%&^% DON'T THEY SAY THAT DURING THE ORDER??? I ordered a couple of books last month, and entered my mailing address because I can't get delivery out here. 2 weeks later I get a card in the mail from UPS telling me they couldn't deliver, and now I have to drive OVER AN HOUR to pick $30 worth of books. I've been ordering quite a bit from them recently and have generally received good service. This time around I placed an order for two headsets that I needed for a flight. They without telling me anywhere before or after the order processed required signature delivery by someone over 21 and would not allow it to be transferred to a UPS for pickup. If I would have known this, I would have had them shipped to my office. They are basically requiring me to take a day off work to wait for a order. I called and they didn't care less. I purchased an item and selected and paid for 2 day ground shipping. Still haven't received the item. The Sales department stated that the shipping date was not guaranteed and if I needed the item in 2 days I should have paid an additional fee to ensured it would arrive in 2 days. I selected the shipping option that said it would arrive in 2 days and they sent me a email saying that it would arrive as promised. The sales agent stated that I didn't understand the shipping process. Their are a lot of other good merchants selling aircraft equipment, just happened Sporty's came up first on the search engine. Nope. It seems that every time I try to order from Sporty's I get the runaround, or they want a ridiculous amount of money for shipping. You can, of course, "subscribe" to their shipping service... but why do that when I have the same thing at Amazon where I can buy both aviation gear AND other things??? Additionally, I tried to place an order yesterday and requested 2 day shipping and wanted to verify over the phone that it would arrive by Saturday (that would have been 3 days en route). They said that because their "warehouse operations had closed" I wouldn't get it until MONDAY if placed on a Wednesday... So I got off the phone, placed an order with MyPilotStore, and will have it tomorrow (Friday) for an even cheaper 2 day shipping price. Not to mention the airplane giveaways are extremely suspect. Those who win usually own aircraft already and are probably pumping massive amounts of money into Sporty's. I've heard its not so much a "drawing" as it is a "who has the deepest pockets?" thing. Good, honest customer services goes way further than flashy websites and impossible giveaways. Unfortunately, Sporty's is more of an online catalog where pilots can pick things they like to buy elsewhere. read more

Wow, great customer service. I bought a headset and the package was most likely stolen after UPS delivered it. UPS fell flat on their face when doing their investigation. Janice from Customer Service was on top of it and kept checking on the UPS investigation status. In the end, Sporty's replaced the stolen headset, even though it was not their fault. read more

I have been but buying pilot supplies for many years. They have always been great to work with. I had a couple of times I did not like and the took them back no questions. Sometimes I think their prices are a little high, but knowing they stand behind their products makes it worth the little extra. read more

It's unfortunate I have to leave this review. After purchasing this app it did not work for over 4 months, by the time I got it working a few weeks later they came out with a new app. In order for me to use the new app I had the delete the old one. Once I got the new app all my progress had been erased. I tried for weeks to get this fixed but had no luck. No endorsement was given to me and it was a complete rip off. Customer care did nothing for me and told me it was to late to fix it. I would tell anyone out there looking for an online course to not use this one. It's nothing like the ones iv used before, Everything from the format to the practice test is nothing like the real test the customer service is horrible and there are many better options out there. Kings, Mazero, Gleim, etc. use caution when trying this program and be prepared for a nightmare if you ever have to talk to someone. read more

The original clock was defective and upon notifying Sporty's they quickly sent a free return label and shipped me a new product before the defective one was even sent back. Update: I was contacted by the President of Sporty's and they are working to resolve the issue and he sounded sincere and very sorry that I was treated poorly. Rude and arrogant Sporty's flight instructor has ruined my perception of them forever...I recently joined the Sporty's Flying Club and was more than excited to earn additional ratings and build flight time through an organization that I respected. Instead I got assigned a rude and arrogant flight instructor to receive my checkouts and begin my instrument rating. He promised to call and schedule an appointment and he just disappeared? Never responded to my multiple voicemails either...he did contact me after I complained to the flight school manager and he was very rude and arrogant...look Sporty's, I have spent thousands of dollars with you over the years but now I will never spend another penny with your company. As far as the instructor goes here is my best piece of advice to you, any flying job you hope to attain is built on customer service and your next job with an airline, if you get one, will expect you to be professional, punctual, and courteous...if you are not, well, join the long line of furloughed pilots buddy. read more

I've ordered from Sporty's ten or twenty times over the last twenty years, and have had chart subscriptions from time to time, all with generally good results. However, the last experience left me completely baffled and flat out annoyed. In July 2016 I started a new chart subscription and had 9 charts ($54 worth) due to be shipped out. When shipped I received 8 separate credit card charges totaling over $80. Surely, I thought, they can't be charging me nearly $26 to ship $54 worth of charts!? (2 TPP / 2 AFD / 5 flat map-type charts). (And what's with the 8 separate CC charges on the same day???) Calling customer service yielded only more annoyance as the guy that I talked to could also not decipher the 8 credit card charges or the shipping and handling charges. When I asked him if $26 of shipping cost made sense for $54 worth of charts, particularly because five of the charts are flat map-type charts (which should probably cost about $3 in an envelope to send....), he says yes, and "I'm sorry if our shipping charges are too much for you." I really think this CS agent was confused because I can't remember shipping charges being so high on a subscription like this. This txn was a one-star, but giving some credit for good service in the past. read more
