I always thought Spotlight was a shop to go to if you were after a lamp, or a set of curtians. Both of these are available, however Spotlight does offer a lot more.This place is a one stop shop for all regular house hold needs, and is open 7 days a week. If you're shopping from bed linen, or after gardening, office or kitchen supplies, you're bound to find something here. Otherwise the variety makes it an ideal place to go Christmas shopping, if you have left things to the last minute. The prices are reasonably cheap, but the quality is excellent. Everything here is advertised on sale, but I'm pretty sure the prices have been bumped up beforehand to compensate. read more

Hmmm, I have a love/hate relationship with this place, but have given it 4 stars (since I couldn't select 3 1/2) because ultimately I can usually get most things I need from here. What I don't like is that this Spotlight is like most of them - MESSY!! It's hard to find what you need amongst the chaos. It's like everything is literally thrown in there with no consideration for organisation or logic. The other thing I don't like are the cheap options for most things - instead of stocking high quality wool, for example, only cheap acryllic and substandard wool blends are available ... but I guess that's what their customers want - they'd go elsewhere if they wanted to step up the quality. And I guess that's what Spotlight is good for. But the sheer range is great! I came here for Velcro, and was faced with more options and colours than I needed ... but at least they had some!! And that's why I keep coming back (albeit reluctantly) ;) I must say their registers have been moved, and this has made the check-out more efficient than it was on my last visit, so that's another plus ;) read more

This ones a pretty big store inside. It seems to go back so far as well as wide. They have a great range of towels, linen, curtains and fabrics. They also have some really cool gift idea's. Best part is they have heaps of cool craft stuff. You can buy eyes and gems and paints and wooden things and scrapbook and get helium balloon kits, the list goes on. I never realised so many crafty things existed. They even have cool kids latch hook kits and paint by numbers kits. I remeber them from I was a kid. I went here to see if I could get something to permanently number some uniforms we had purchased. Like the school uniform tags but I didn't want a name, I needed sequential numbers. They showed me a roll of iron on transfer material that comes with a permanent marker. It was only around $5. It worked a treat. (I do realise nowadays you can get iron on transfer label maker ribbon which is easier but this worked for me at the time). Sometimes you have to wait a while for some assistance but they are always helpful once it's your turn and they do have a number system for service so it's usually fair. read more

This branch of Spotlight is located in the complex behind McDonalds, which you can use the big M as a landmark on your approach if you're not familiar with the area. As a note round the back also is Radio Rentals and a carpet place. Spotlight is packed to the rafters with everything a domestic goddess desires to make everything for the home indoors, outdoors, dress the family but alas it is a dying art. Spotlight sells sewing machines and overlockers and all the bits associated with sewing, not forgetting to mention knitting needs also. It has got a little of every art and craft but alot of haberdashery and fabrics which they are best known for supplying. Great for anyone dabbling in crafts and hobbies as they sell all types of supplies like scrapbooking supplies for instance, but not an overly large range like a dedicated scrapbook shop. Bedding and soft furnishings, home decor, curtains ready made and fabrics, curtain rods, blinds, curtain fabric on a roll and this is an area where they offer a free measure and quote service for custom made curtains and blinds. Online they have what's called an 'Inspiration Room' but you'll need to become a VIP member, yes it does mean another card to add to the ever expanding wallet but this ones' worth it. As it not only entitles you access for the IR but also VIP only specials in store and online at reduced prices. The IR online gives tutorials, tips and hints and blogs on various projects IE teddy bear making and takes you through the step by step process how to make it. Excellent and much more streamlined than a regular Youtube video, good business for them too if people only wish to go to Spotlight for the supplies. It's a great online community for people who don't have time to attend craft classes or can't afford them, or they don't exist for the project they're embarking on, or they are incapacitated, this still allows them to communicate with like minded people. Word of warning: just because it's a online 'craft' network doesn't mean it's all ok, play it safe and don't disclose many personal details, just as you wouldn't randomly disclose details to someone you just bumped into at the store. There are a few Spotlight stores dotted around in Adelaide but this is one of the larger ones, but do find the nearest to you and get crafting. read more
