I'd recommend this for a date, solo afternoon, or when you have visitors in town. My biggest tip would be to check the special exhibitions before your visit since they can be a major highlight. With membership we never have to think about the cost and I am guessing that the two of us go enough that we savemoney withthe annual family membership. But there's a lagniappe that the Botanical garden doesn't even mention. Memberships at he Atlanta Botanical Gardens gives reciprocal membership in 350+ gardens around the US and Canada. But was I ever surprised to discover that it includes the Atlanta History Center. We were there Saturday and saved $29 each by belonging to the Atlanta Botanical Garden. I don't know about y'all, but I think that free is a very good price.

Millennium Gate Museum was a complete waste of time and money on our most recent trip to Atlanta…read more Coming from Tennessee, I felt this would be a unique and similar experience to the Parthenon Replica in Nashville complete with curated exhibits, art galleries, statues, and a park. However, the entire experience was lacking and felt like a dated, run down tourist trap. Upon arrival the actual monument is beautiful. The park is pretty and has nice views of the city. We paid for admission to the museum which is $12 for General Admission and $10 for Students. Even with the student discount, this felt like an overreach for what we got out of the experience. There was only one worker and there were no other patrons in the museum this day AT ALL. It was very quiet and awkward. The indoor galleries consisted primarily of a long hallway with antique furniture with pictures of random people from Atlanta. The gallery was primarily pictures (that I could see online for free) with descriptions and did not contain many actual artifacts or items to look at. The few cases had weird assortments of items such as plates, buttons, and kitchen utensils. It felt like I was looking through the remains of a yard sale, with many items not even having descriptions. Overall the exhibit did not feel very curated, but rather felt like an odd assortment of someone's old junk put on display. We were unable to see the rooftop conservatory that was advertised online with pretty views of the parks. I feel this should be excluded from the website and marketing for General Admission if it is not accessible and staffed properly. The outdoor spaces are pretty; however, these could be visited for free outside of museum admission and did not require payment. Overall the entire museum took approximately 20 minutes to walk through, and left us feeling scammed. It was awkward walking past the one worker after we quickly walked through what little the museum had to offer. I would not recommend this to anyone and will skip this on our next trip to Atlanta.

It piqued and I decided to take a closer look and it turned out to be a history museum! I wandered in and it was deserted so was unsure of how it was going to be. It turned out to be a beautiful but small museum with a lot of interesting artifacts from Georgia/US history, WWII and also has fragments from the Bodmer Papyrus (worth Googling) There were also a lot of moving letters on display about a board member who had recently passed, Asa Candler VI (descendant of the Coco-Cola founder). Based on the letters, he was a truly wonderful man who had an amazing life and touched a lot of people positively. Condolences to the family.

We checked in and got our bracelets, which allowed us access to the entire space. They had a map that outlined the various classes and events going on and the times they were happening. A++ for organization. It was a bt crowded, as any free event will draw a huge crowd. We enjoyed the musical petting zoo and art station at the High Museum. The line was too long for the 2 kids play rooms, so we did not partake, but it looked fun!

I definitely learned a lot about the Atlanta and South music landscape. Could not leave without taking a picture of the famous pink car. Before leaving I also had the opportunity to do the escape room and baby that was an experience like none other. The entire experience includes a tour guide and he did not come to play with us. Lots of fun and puzzles to figure out. I am not sure if we made it out safely or not but I had a few good laughs. I would definitely recommend if you're into music and leaning about the culture.

They have the world's largest collection of Jim Henson puppets, and it was so cool to see them in person. The tickets are very affordable, and they offer free parking outside the building. Besides the Jim Henson exhibit, it was so cool to see all of the other puppets they have on display. Even if you don't know much about puppetry, I think you would enjoy this museum. They also have live performances here, but they did not have any scheduled during our visit. I would love to return in the future to see a performance.

The tasting room had more than 25 flavors of Coca-Cola from around the world. While it was fun to try them all, this was also the most chaotic and busiest room in the museum. The floor was sticky with Coca-Cola that had been spilled at some point, although who knows when! The museum itself can get a little too busy. The gift shop is nice, with plenty of Coca-Cola-themed merchandise, including cutlery, dishes, plush toys, and more. I picked up a couple of magnets.

I needed to see something Atlanta. Who knows the next time I will be back to this city and have time to see things. I have to say, I had no idea that this was not the original location of this museum. Relocated to this site in 2007, so I cannot compare this to the original location. I will say, it was most likely a good idea for them to get a bigger location. I am going to preface this by saying that I am not a big Coke fan. Haven't had on in years. Then why did I come here? Because I am a consumer of culture and history. Coke has a huge connection to pop culture over the years and you cannot deny the fact that this is a powerhouse of a company. Starting out here, they suggest that you get tickets ahead of time. However, not totally necessary, you can buy them on site. Quick security check and you are ushered inside. The first thing you do when you come in here is the Coca-Cola Theater for a presentation. While waiting for the theater opening up you will have an emcee keeping your attention and dropping some facts about the museum and some trivia questions. Also, you will get some suggestions on what to do, which exhibits to see fully, and what things to taste. After the theater, which can be moving and shows the connection we all have to one another, you are set free to explore whichever way you want to go. There are many exhibits and interactive areas to partake in. The list of exhibits: The Stores, Coca-Cola Stories, Icons, Beverage Lab, Taste It!, Scent Discovery, The Loft, and Polar Bear (photo op with the polar bear mascot). The pop culture portions of this museum really drew me in. Icons and The Loft really stick out. This is pop culture overload and takes you back to a certain year. You'll see something and be transported to whatever year that item may have debuted. From old cans to basketballs; motorcycles to speakers; and Santa to the polar bear. Big signs that are lit up show you exactly how things were displayed in yesteryear. Do be sure to visit the Vault. Where they hold the original recipe behind a mammoth wall of metal. This safe is huge which sits inside the vault. Don't get too near it, do not touch it, do not breathe on it. Just stand back and admire it. Another stand out is Taste It! Where you get to sample as much sodas from around the world. You get to take a sip of what is popular in any given country. There are some that are delicious and then there are some that just leave a bad taste in your mouth, I'm looking at you Italy and China (like seriously, how did you make a soda that tastes almost like barbecue sauce?). Stand out to me were the watermelon flavored one and the cucumber flavored Sprite. Don't knock anything until you have at least tried it. Of course, the end is the gift shop. Make sure to check everything over here and grab what you want. Make it to the register and they will ask if you want to purchase a mystery gift. It can be a discontinued item or something rare. I got a mini wireless speaker.
