I stumbled on this while looking for things to do in the area while attending a book signing. Being a book lover and author, this was an obvious choice. My friend and I explored the first two floors (we were pressed for time) and were in awe. I wish Charleston had something like this because I would be here every single day working on my next manuscript. There were several rooms, desks, and seating areas for readers and students alike to choose from. The large windows allow for plenty of natural light that offsets the bright interior lights. They have a wide collection of titles and studies! Highly recommend that you check it out. Just remember to be quiet and respectful as students may be present working on their projects.

The selection of books is OUTSTANDING. Every genre is welI stocked, and I really, really appreciated the great selection of fantasy/sci-fi books. I'm an older reader who well remembers the era when public libraries paid little attention to this type of lit and reading fans had to buy their own books. ALL types of fiction are generously stocked, the biography section is outstanding and I found so many great books on sewing and crafts that were so informative I ordered my own copies of some of them. There is plenty of parking & a quiet room for ADD & special needs folks with spinners etc. I love almost all the librarians with one notable exception who shall remain nameless but I'm told she gets lots of complaints. The internet isn't as strong as I think it should be for the amount of people who use it! I do appreciate that the librarians have tables set up with their favorite books. I do wish they would go back to the old days where quiet was observed but the Apex library is better about that I've found. I wish wake county libraries would have DVD's the way Durham libraries do.

My little one is a total bookworm these days, so I decided to reserve some books and do the pickup during COVID-19. Overall it was a good and easy experience. Once the books were ready I was able to schedule a pickup time, and went into the lobby to pickup my books. There was one other person in there, so I waited outside until they were finished up. I was able to go inside with my mask on and let the staff at the table know my name from 10+ feet away! My books were labeled with my name and ready to go on a table right in the lobby. They seem to have a good system in place! The only thing that could have been better was the security guard next to the staff member pulled his mask down under his nose to talk to me, I don't even know if he realized he did it. He was pretty far away from me though, so it didn't really worry me. Based on the books I selected for my son the staff included a little activity packet! I thought that was super sweet and loved the special activities! I also frequently use the electronic book services for my kindle. We will be ready and looking forward to story time and other activities when it is safe to do so!

I would sit at one of the carrels for hours, without interruption. This is one of the largest libraries in the county. They have a huge selection of mysteries and general fiction, and their children's section is also quite large. They have regular story times for even the youngest family members, and they have regular workshops on subjects like gardening and writing. Check the boards when you walk in for more information.

Then you just need to go to the hold section and grab your books. You have the option to check out books with a person or utilize their kiosk to self-checkout. At this location, self-checkout is easy as you can stack up to four books at a time and the kiosk easily and quickly knows what books you are checking out. You can print a receipt or have an email sent to you with a list of books that you checked out. When returning books, you have the option for a drive-up outdoor drop-off from your car or a drop box inside. There are always plenty of staff members willing and able to assist you. There are plenty of tables and computers and I like that they have a quiet room.
