My favorite library & I desperately missed it while it was closed for renovations. They must have been mainly upgrading the infrastructure because I don't see any real physical evidence of remodeling. There is plenty of parking & a quiet room for ADD & special needs folks with spinners etc. I love almost all the librarians with one notable exception who shall remain nameless but I'm told she gets lots of complaints. The internet isn't as strong as I think it should be for the amount of people who use it! I do appreciate that the librarians have tables set up with their favorite books. I do wish they would go back to the old days where quiet was observed but the Apex library is better about that I've found. I wish wake county libraries would have DVD's the way Durham libraries do. read more

Pretty good selection of books. I especially like the table with the staff's recommendations. Nice place to study if you don't mind having a good number of other people studying all around you. Has a great quiet room where several people can study without too much distraction. The desks throughout the open area in the library are generally taken if you come here after school. Lots of local students study here. My kids have met tutors here to study and done their own independent study here. The staff is friendly and helpful. Bathrooms are decent enough. Dated but generally clean. Library was closed for a few months so this may have changed. I didn't visit the restroom on my most recent visit. read more

Our favorite library in town! There is ample parking, a wide array of books for all ages (toddler, elementary school and middle School kids), adults, seniors everyone. The quality of books and available titles are superb. The hold times aren't very long and I've never waited longer than 3 weeks to get a book I really wanted to read. There is an audio book option to rent, ebooks for kindles and electronics and of course, paper versions. The staff is super friendly and walks you through every option available to utilize the library's assets to your best. They enjoy their work and are passionate about spreading the joy. Memberships are free (which work across all Wake county libraries) and super easy. Walk in with your ID and you're good to go. read more

Great library! I took my young kids to this library for the first time recently and actually it was their first library visit EVER and they had such a good time! The staff were so friendly and helpful! One even walked around with me showing me the different areas of the library, even finding me the book I had reserved online. My kids loved the children's section. They helped me check the books out at the self check-out kiosk. There appeared to be a good number of computers for use. We'll definitely return! read more

This is one my favorite libraries to spend time reading and working. It's definitely crowded on the weekends, and sometimes it's quite hard to find a desk to work on. But I still love the vibe I get from this library. It reminds me of busy libraries that I'm so used to go to study in undergrad. When there are a lot of other people studying and working, I also get motivated to do the same. This place has that magic! Like any other Wake County Public Libraries, you get lots of great books and if you can't find something, you can always request it to deliver it to your home library. One of my favorite spot in this library is the first bookshelf you see when you walk into the library. The librarians keep that bookshelf decorated for special occasion. Last time I visited, it was beautifully decorated with Valentine's Day theme. I love checking out books from that area :) read more

Sssshhhh! People are trying to read here! I don't see any reviews less than four stars for this library, so I'm not going to be that jerk who gives it three stars. It's a nice library. The Wi-Fi is strong enough. It comes in handy when the internet stops working in the home office. Finally, I can see our tax money coming to some use, because Lord knows it isn't really used for anything that starts with h and ends with ealthcare. Matt G - these kind of Yelp comments are going to come back and haunt you one of these days when you decide to run for office as a Republican. Like Seinfeld said, the library, a government funded pathetic friend, I'll bring the books back whenever I feel like it, what are going to do, charge me a nickel? It's clean. Plenty of bathrooms. Outlets near the tables. There are three private rooms you can book for one hour sessions at a time and you can't reserve it in advance. I think there is a quiet zone and a general area where it's allowed to use your quiet indoor voice because some guy was doing his weekly catch up calls for an hour and no one said anything, meanwhile I was told I can't eat my McDonalds fish burger in the library, pfff. My wife told me it was when I was rummaging through my bag of fries that caught the staff's attention. read more

It's hard to differentiate this branch from the others in Wake County. It's certainly community oriented and they have interesting programs. There are often a lot of people here - studying, reading quietly - taking selfies in the private study rooms you can reserve. Once, while studying for an exam I grabbed a piece of string cheese from my bag - I was told that eating is not permitted. Meanwhile, I kid you not, a woman was eating what looked like a ham sandwich in pretty much plain sight. It's fair - bugs and ants taking over the library would be a bad situation. They have monthly free yoga - I haven't gone yet but I've been meaning to go. Apparently, they have good programs for kids too (doesn't yet apply to me). I loved the escape room program. We felt like the group was a little too big - it's hard to communicate with ten people - 7ish might have led to more communication and problem solving. Also, it was FREE and escape rooms are tons of money! I really appreciated this experience and the library being a space to not only read and study but also to meet new people and have good experiences. My husband, who was super apprehensive about going to the escape room, absolutely loved it. I love wake county's library in general - you can get any book you want in wake county delivered to your library plus they obviously do inter library loan. I'm pretty happy with their online offerings and audiobooks too. Definitely take advantage of the free events and materials available here. read more

This is a huge beautiful library. Everything is well marked and the employees are extremely helpful. They have a great summer reading program and lots of special events throughout the year. My only small complaint is the U-shaped design of the building. It makes sense to separate the adults and children's sections - and most would probably prefer it that way. But if you need to get from children's nonfiction to adult nonfiction you'll be walking around the whole thing. I wonder if a connection could work. You could keep the gorgeous courtyard, it would just be enclosed instead of a long entrance. But it's a tiny complaint because at least it's all on one level and I don't have to walk up stairs. read more

West Regional Library is an excellent library with well-designate spaces, helpful staff, and a nice atmosphere. I love, LOVE, the library. This branch of Wake County Public Library suits me for several reasons. First, I like that the children's section is separate from the adults. I like knowing I'm not going to have to fight off a 7 yr old to access the computer, or listen to a 3 year old have a break down because he can't get 300 books. Kids have different needs than adults in a library and I like that there is an area designated just for them, with computers, reading areas and check outs. The children's section in this library is wonderful with nice endcap displays, computers with cute tiny little chairs and nice areas to sit and read. There is a section for young adults on the children's side as well. This area has computer set up in a cafe style and a reading/hanging out area. Second, I like the study areas set up on the adult side. There are over half a dozen tables interspersed with comfortable reading areas and the magazine and newspaper racks. These tables have good lighting and I appreciate the signs reminding people to keep conversations low and cell phones off! If you need somewhere especially quiet there are more tables set up at the very back past the foreign language section. There are also study rooms that are glassed in and little nooks with private desks. I also like that there are many many computers at this branch. I have never had to wait for an open computer and there is always someone at the reference desk nearby to help with printing or any other questions. That reminds me - the staff here is great! They are very helpful and never make you feel like you are bothering them by asking a question. I wish Wake County had not changed all checkout periods to two weeks. It means a lot more trips to the library and a lot more fines as well. It limits how many books you can take out as there is only so much time in 2 weeks. It also makes waiting in line for newly released titles take a LOT longer. One last area that this library really excels is in the books displays. There are always great seasonal book displays with interesting titles mixed in with more well-known titles. I usually can't pass by without stopping and grabbing something that has caught my eye. read more

Moving from Boston to here, I miss some of the larger libraries. The book selection at WR is good. They have books in regional/ethnic languages which is a big plus point for me. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Staff recommended books are arranged on another shelf. They also have theme books such as book selections for gardening or movie-based books or whatever the theme of the week may be. Like that a lot! This library is not too big. They do not have dvds available for checkout. Like another reviewer mentioned, the U-shaped library hall seems odd. It sort of isolates the children's section from the rest of the library! read more

I love this library. It has great events - family story time, toddler story time and baby story time. It also has community events such as financial classes. Check out their website for more info. The staff there are helpful. Most are passionate about what they do. My husband has also had to take proctored exams there and appreciates how helpful that staff is through the process. The only complaint I have is about parking. During story times it fills up quickly! I've had to drive around to find a parking spot. read more

in this library I find many books for children, my daughter loves this place because she likes to read a lot and here is lots of fun books, is a small place, but with a variety of books, there are also computers where they can do queries or can play video games for children. Books you can lend it for two weeks, but if you want longer you can renew online. All books are free, no need to buy books to read. read more

When my kids were young - this was a GREAT library, full of great book choices for them, great helpful librarians - AWESOME library. As an adult, the library is fairly well stocked with fiction, but has a great supplies of non-fiction usually available on the shelves. However - as a parent of high school kids, this library is far from ideal for that age group. It is far too small, crowded and loud on the "adult side" for kids to effectively study and/or collaborate with peers for group projects or with tutors. There are only 2 private study rooms for collaborative work or tutoring so they are most often unavailable. Twice when meeting a tutor there were no seats on the adult side whatsoever, so my daughter and her tutor had to move to the kids side where the volume and physical movement is at a maximum. In addition - the volume is quite impressive on both sides of the library. People everywhere talk at full volume and there is no effort by the staff to encourage folks to "keep it down" (on the adult side - don't expect it on the kids side). Also, the weekend before Wake County High School Final exams - the library held some program for young kids who were running all over the library screaming and being kids, there cars were parked along the roads as the small parking lots were full, it was crazy. With 2 high schools within a few miles of the library preparing for finals that same weekend, surely library staff could have planned better? I expect better from my tax dollars. read more

Open and spacious library with a lot of natural light thanks to the large windows. This place is great during the day but in the evenings it can become crowded and noisy when students visit after school. I have not participated in any of the events but I know they hold many, especially for younger children. They also only have 3 study rooms which you are only guaranteed for an hour and you cannot reserve beforehand (first come first serve only). read more

I agree with everything that a prior reviewer stated about the level of noise in the library in the early evening. Maybe overuse is a good problem for a library to have, but it is often difficult to find a seat on the "adult" side. Once you find a seat, you find that tutors and pupils talk at full volume instead of at the stage whisper more customary in a library. At one point, I mentioned this to one of the librarians who just looked at me blankly and stated: "it's been louder." She suggested that I talk to the security guard, whom I couldn't find. I would strongly encourage the library to take this issue seriously. Just a reminder here or there, or even some signage, could make the library a better place for all. read more

This is a large spacious library with a lot of study areas and private rooms and internet terminals. Took one star off since many of the internet terminals are down and need to be fixed. I have been coming here since the Fall of 2011 for 6 years now to use the Internet and look for books. Highly recommend this library and especially love the 1 hr+ time limit on the internet compared to other Wake County Libraries. Also love the huge selection of books and helpful staff. People also seem to be quite friendly if you speak to them. :) read more

One of the staff named Ann was very friendly helped me with the books and helped me with all the queries as it was my first time. So I would recommend this library. This is one of my to-go places if I really need to buckle down and get some studying done. There are plenty of parking outside so you'll always find a spot. What's really cool about this place is that they'll have these special programs pretty much every weekend that I've been there. Things like a meet and greet with some friendly dogs for the kids and today, they had a live performance by Oak City String Quartet. I was quite impressed by the performance. They have these meeting rooms in one corner which is great for group projects. Another great feature is that you can renew books online. read more

This location is more modern than many others in Southern Wake County and has a great layout. The entrance is in the center. To the right, you have research PCs for junior / children to use, then the junior / children's book selection behind that. There's even a children's periodical section. To the left of the main entrance, there's adult periodicals, checkout, and reservation pick up. Great for a quick pick up and check out. Continue on inside I the left and the adult fiction is all up front and easily browsable. From there, as you make your way further to the adult side, you'll find internet access PCs, adult non-fiction, plenty of nice clean chairs and tables to browse your books at, and enough card catalogue PCs so you don't have to make repeated trips back up to the front to look up additional titles. Overall, a great library to try out if you're in the Cary / Apex area. BTW... They have completed the connector road behind Green Level HS, so you can get access to this library from the roads in front of as well as behind the high school. Very convenient. If you don't like waiting for library transfers to your local branch, try this locations. They seem to have many more popular fiction titles available than other locations. read more

I LOVE this library. It's beautiful inside and out and it always accommodates my needs. I love to come here and study. I've even volunteered here before. HOWEVER, you can't come inside or leave on the weekends without being harassed by a man trying to get you to sign his petitions right outside the door. read more

I've been going here since the place opened in 2006 and it's a nice library with a decent selection of books and nice staff. It's modern, clean, spacious, and there are separate areas for kids and adults. They also offer proctor services, special programs, study spaces, and plenty of places to sit down and read. They could use some newer books though in the nonfiction section, and the computers pretty are old (the computers are the original ones from 2006, updated to run Windows 7). read more
