She has been taught so well in Language/Math subjects that she has exceeded grade levels based on tests. She also likes the Art, Music, Tech, PE and Spanish classes. Ms. P and Mrs. A are experienced and super nice teachers. They set high standards on learning and personal growth, but also tailoring to each child's overall progress. I like the daily/weekly communication from both teachers. It makes knowing my child's school experience so much easier. For the school, it feels like a welcoming big family. The office is so supportive daily. Principle S. and VP C. are always there taking care of the school and students' needs. Teachers are friendly, students are polite and caring. Parents remain close and support each other. SD offers several activities every month that parents can enjoy with their kids: Annual festival, Breakfast with Santa, Art activities, Music Performance, etc. It also has many sports programs. The Extended Care program after school time has fun activities and is very affordable. My kid enjoys staying in school with her friends all the time. It says that it takes a village to raise a child. The principal, faculty, and staff truly care about each student and it shows. If you are considering private high school, I highly recommend St. Dunstan's to lay the academic foundation. My daughter loves her teachers and said that the high school entrance exam was relatively easy compared to what they are learning at St. Dunstan's. I've spoken to many parents who transferred their kids in for middle school who've said they wished they had started at St. Dunstan's sooner because it is such a welcoming and warm environment. They have a ton of extracurriculars and events. Sports intramurals for K-3 and competitive sports for 4-8th. We have musical theater classes and performances. As well as Spanish classes and technology. Every month there are family friendly events- from family movie night, Casino Night, Lobster Feed, the father/daughter dance, family bingo night, lady knights and men clubs events, and so many fun events. We have the spring festival and middle school dances. Fun Day with games and an end of year school wide picnic. The kids are kind, respectful, and inclusive. The parent community is amazing and we have made lifelong friendships with other families. Choosing St. Dunstan's for our kids is probably one of the best decisions we have made for their academic, emotional, and social well being. I have two kids and have Mimi pick them up from school…read more I have my kids go to Mimi because it is very convenient, the location is clean, price is reasonable, and they focus on the things I think will help my child -- math, music and Mandarin. All in one location! I don't have to spend a day on the weekend for a music class or language class. The rooms separate kids by age / skill level and is organized and clean. The study materials motivate my kids to learn challenging math for their age. I find my kids' are more proficient in math compared to the kids at public school. During this past winter break, instead of staying at home, my kid asked to go to Mimi so they can do more math. Last but not least, the teachers care about the progress of my kids. My kid didn't want to practice music and when I told the teachers, they sent a personal voice message to encourage and motivate my child.

Kids love them, they help impart life skills and also help gain confidence. Its math sequence is very well thought out (e.g., one track for pure math and one for applied math) and allows plenty of room for advanced students to progress beyond calculus. We are pleased to see that our son has been spending a good amount of time at the I-Lab before/after school (helped greatly by his new found independence via the bike+Caltrain combination) and loves every minute of it! Nueva's Upper School teachers are helpful and highly qualified; many are practitioners/experts in their field. Our son's Japanese language teacher has a wonderful sense of Japanese humor that makes language learning so much more enjoyable. The Upper School has an advisory system that allows small groups of students to interact with their advisors, who in turn provide feedback to parents (especially new families!) on how their kids are doing at school from time to time. It's a great way to integrate incoming 9th graders (i.e., many new friends were made over a 3-day camping trip before start of school) and build strong ties between school and families from the get-go. Eventually, I applied for a position and interviewed with someone who honestly seemed very kind and thoughtful. I left the interview feeling optimistic, especially because I was told I would hear back by the end of the week. In education hiring, timelines usually move quickly because schools want to secure teachers for the upcoming school year before candidates accept other opportunities. Weeks went by with complete silence. No follow-up, no rejection email, nothing. Wanting to close the loop professionally, I eventually emailed to thank the interviewer for her time and wish her and her team the best for the upcoming year. Oddly, the message bounced back, even though I had been communicating through that exact same email thread previously. At that point, I honestly began wondering whether the communication had somehow been compromised or whether I had fallen into some strange scam situation. I even called the school directly to verify that the interviewer actually worked there, and thankfully she did. The school then provided me with another email address associated with their official domain. I forwarded my message there as well, but once again received no response at all. Whether the message reached her or not, the overall experience felt surprisingly unprofessional and dismissive, especially after what had initially seemed like such a warm interaction. After later reading additional reviews and experiences from others, I ultimately realized this probably was not the right fit for me anyway. Still, basic communication and professional courtesy go a long way, particularly in education, where relationships and respect matter.

I honestly wasn't expecting the other parents to be so involved and so nice to be around. This makes you want to go to all functions because you know you will have a blast. I can't speak for all teachers...but the kids I know all seem happy with their teachers. MY sons kindegarten teacher is top notch in my book! Mrs. Claussen has a wonderful way of being warm and loving with the kids and at the same time, is no pushover and the kids respect her for that. She has a great sense of humor and a wonderful teaching style. There's my 2 cents (more like 80 cents!)
