TERRIBLE. I mean, really bad. Disgusting. Dark, dirty, Internet out for 24hours, awful service, lack of staff, poor lighting, bad odors, coffee NEVER EVER hot, lobby floors / carpet regularly filthy, hair and blood on surfaces and so much more! Prior to 2022, I thought this hotel was the best in Erie. I'd stayed there 5 separate times during visits home in the last decade. Amazing employees. But now? The place has been ruined. I had a weeks reservation and left 2 days early, no refund. Every day was a struggle not to leave and just find a hotel on the under-construction Bayfront instead. Apparently SpringHill Suites was bought out and "renovated" back in 2022-2023 (you wouldn't know it to see the place). They removed the upgraded suites with Hot Tubs and made everything cookie cutter with dark floors, walls, and lighting. It's so dark you can barely see when away from the one single window. I'm not exaggerating. I can only imagine its to hide the filth because they've cut back on all cleaning/staffing. There is only 1 person on front-desk duty at a time and usually a long wait for anything. The Internet went out one day, all day (and night) - and there was no notice or explanation or communication that went out to guests. Many guests were understandably upset; staff did not care. Older guy with gray hair who on duty said he'd made the call to tech support and got a service ticket. I asked if he'd followed up for status - and his face showed the expression of a dumb*ss who'd never think to do such a thing. He really was the worst of them. A sorry sack of worthlessness and sorrow. If he didn't have such a bad attitude, I'd pity him. Bare minimum is the name of the game in this place. Lobby cleaned once a day in the morning, and not thoroughly. Always had to step over chunks of dirt, mud, grass etc. Didn't matter what time of day you'd try the coffee, it was NEVER hot. I experienced this EVERY FREAKIN' DAY. Then I'd ask the front desk for hot coffee and they'd grab a new dispenser from the supply room (a room from which a rotton odor would consistently waft out of). So why is it that staff can't just learn to replace the coffee regularly if it's ready in the back? Not hard to set a timer to put new coffee out every 3 hours or so. Same time every day. Bare minimum effort, that's why. No proactivity and no one cares. Poor manager was only hired 3 months prior they said. Likely a high turnover will continue for the foreseeable future. This place nearly ruined my trip. I didn't let it, but it was a struggle. AVOID this hotel at all costs to demonstrate that we won't just accept nastiness and slop. *NOTE: Upon my arrival, and seeing what the hotel had become and how DARK the rooms were, I tried to cancel the stay. The front desk clerk tried, but had to call the manager who wouldn't allow it because it was a "nonrefundable" reservation.* read more

This hotel was very nice, as Marriott Hotels always are. The lobby had a pretty Christmas tree. Staff were nice. However, some details were overlooked like a hair in the shower and the hair dryer bag being dirty, on arrival. Also, the TV remote needed new batteries. The shower had good water pressure and a rain shower head. The continental breakfast had a good selection of food, including a waffle iron (but it only went till 9:30am). The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. The room included 2 beds, a sleeper sofa, a mini fridge, a microwave, two TV's, and a Bible (in the dresser). The TV had a good selection of channels (Hallmark, Freeform, GAF). I liked that there was an extra sink and mirror outside of the bathroom, which made it easier for everyone to get ready to leave in the morning. There was a pool on site but we didn't use it, due to it being a short stay. The elevator was poorly marked (on the 3rd floor), as in there was no overhead sign pointing it out from a distance. read more

We stayed at this hotel en route to NY, and overall found it to be a great spot for an overnight stay. Several food options easily accessible, proximity to the interstate, and spacious accommodations for a family with 2 little boys. While most of the staff was excellent, one lady (Taylor, with pinkish hair), was fairly rude / apathetic; and perhaps a bit snooty, but relative to other Marriott experiences, she didn't extend gratitude for us being Lifetime Gold members. However, overall a really nice location, and would consider staying here again. read more

We had a wonderful trip to edinboro to visit our granddaughter who attends the college and is on the women's soccer team. We decided to spend the night in Erie. I like Marriott and found the suite near by. It was on interchange hwy close to all that we know, across from the mall and Cheddar restaurant. I highly recommend this hotel. The staff and front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was cold and I could not swim. If you have an indoor pool it should be heated, reason why only four stars. Sad because it was a nice hotel. The sofa was extremely hard and uncomfortable but I was in the room long enough to have it be a total problem I was extremely disappointed in it being able to swim, But I do recommend for a clean place to stay. read more

Stayed here a few weeks ago. We were located on the 4th floor. Unable to access the internet during the stay except when we were in the lobby. Mentioned the difficulty accessing the internet and all she said was you must have a firewall. Which I don't. The shower was dirty. The bathroom light was full of water and falling out of the ceiling. I didn't notice the water in the light until the next morning when the lights were flickering. I went to the desk and notified the person and was told someone would be up to fix it. Someone came up and said there was a leak from the roof coming through the ceiling. I was told at the desk I would get compensation for my troubles as at this point we couldn't use the bathroom and I couldn't shower or use the toilet. As a platinum elite through Marriott I thought management would follow thru on making it right. I got 500 extra points for my troubles. I paid full price. So I got no compensation. 500 points was a slap in the face. I would not recommend staying here. I stay in Erie frequently and have stayed at all the Marriott properties in Erie. There are far better to stay at. Don't stay here. I should add this was a very slow leak so should have been noticed by housekeeping when cleaning the room to see light fixture was falling out of ceiling. read more

Our room was typical of Springhill Suites with a very nice bathroom and plenty of space in the room though it was a bit dark. There was a better than average free breakfast with the egg sandwiches and crustless quiche. The price was very reasonable for what average hotels are charging these days. Extremely disappointing stay! This was far from the quality and service usually associated with a Marriott property- so I can only conclude that the poor customer service and uncleanliness found at this hotel were the direct responsibility of this hotel and not the overall Marriott chain. The tub was disgusting- mold was easily seen in the tile work and adjacent to the faucet. Ventilation grates in the bathroom were rusted out. The topper was easily the Swedish fish candy that I found stuck to the sheets between the box spring and bed. When these issues were brought to the attention of the front desk upon check out, the desk representative seemingly showed zero concern, only abruptly stating that she would make a note of the issue. Oh my lord I am so disappointed in this hotel. I stayed there for one week while in Erie. 1st off the morning breakfast was croissant sandwiches in a bag in a warming tray which meant sitting in their own steam made them soggy like a sponge so breakfast was horrible. But alas, on Friday, there was actually scrambled eggs, not wet, bagged food. 2nd I spent a week there I never saw a single cleaning person, and when I left, I had an eye infection in both eyes. My doctor says that it was probably from dirty pillowcases. 3rd when I checked out, I was given a receipt that stated I was going to be charged $759.48 for my stay. I was actually charged $1249.51. When I spoke with the individual at the front desk about the discrepancy of $599 between what I was charged and what my receipt stated she had no explanation. She had to call the manager Kimmy via FaceTime when Kimmy was on the phone, trying to explain to me What the difference was. She was smoking a cigarette while she was talking to me, which I thought was just excellent representation of a under performing hotel. Kimmy also told me that I was going to be credited the 599 through Expedia somehow nonetheless I was never credited for anything And I was charged $1249.51 so unless the things I am writing here, sound fun to you. I would not stay here. There was also quite a bit of snow during the week that I was there and wow, they do not maintain the parking lot or the walkway whatsoever. Oh I almost forgot I noticed I was sneezing a lot on the second day so I removed the filters from the heating and air conditioning unit in the room and wow I should've taken a photo really I should have. I had to clean them in the shower they were so dirty. I couldn't even see through them. read more

Our second time staying in this hotel, nice area great spot to get away with your significant other. Modern hotel but minimal, there's coffee pot, microwave, mini fridge, ac in our room. WiFi sucks which is the only downfall, watching YouTube on the tv and it buffers quite a lot. No other complains... indoor pool which was cleaned while we were here. Great alternative to the hotels that cater to the casino crowds. The hotel has large suite like rooms and is located just off interstate 79 near the mall in Erie, PA. We got a room via Travelocity for $109 plus tax. The room was on the first floor with a king size bed and fold out sofa. There was also a jacuzzi in the room. The room was clean but a little dated decor. There was a mini bar in the room with fridge and microwave. The room had two TVs and free WiFi. The bed was comfortable and the room very quiet throughout the night. The room include complementary breakfast which was a little more extensive than other area hotels. Make your own waffles, a great selection of pastries, cereals, yogurts, fruit, juices were cold offerings. There was also scrambled eggs and sausage links which I did not try but many were eating. There was a good selection of condiments including Nutella and salsa. Fresh fruit including pears were excellent. The breakfast was good the dining area was upscale and clean. The front desk people were pleasant and helpful. We had to ask how to start the fridge and were quickly helped. There is a small pool and fitness room on the first floor. Complimentary coffee and infused water is available in the lobby. Extra amenities included plug in stations for your Tesla and a small business center in the lobby with a computer. Just across the parking lot is a grocery store to pick up any needs. There are a number of chain restaurants close by. I recommend and will stay again myself. I have stayed at this property before and had good experiences, so I opted to stay here again. The hotel is in a great location with easy access to the interstate, shopping, and restaurants. I used the mobile app to check in but stopped by the front desk to ask questions. The staff members I spoke with were all friendly and helpful. The room was modern, clean, and spacious. The complimentary breakfast was about what you would expect. Overall, it was a decent and enjoyable stay. The only criticism is the number of guests who let their children treat the entire hotel as a playground. The girls working nights are straight up amazing! Great food convo and breakfast joint recommendations. Awesome personalities and senses of humor. I was going to go to greasy spoon for breakfast, but I didn't after seeing the breakfast spread here. I had oatmeal, ham, and cheese. They keep that Crazy busy breakfast area well stocked and spotless. Tables were kept spotless and clean the sec someone gets up. Rooms are always spotless and nicely sized, nice wet bar in the living room area with a fridge and microwave, hot tub in room was great with plenty of towels, and the beds/bedding were sooooo comfy every stay! The location is good near peach, restaurants, and tons of shopping. It's up on a hill so it's quiet at night. If you can't find something you want to eat near there or you forgot to pack something, right across the parking lot is a huge giant eagle! I loved it. The location was incredibly easy to all points needed in Erie, both touristy and local. The parking was fine and the staff was extremely nice. The 3 star rating comes from lack of linens and wash supplies in the room when we checked in for our stay. Also, we found trash left behind from the previous guest in our room and no little to no coffee supplies. I'm okay with no room cleaning service and bagged breakfasts due to covid, but I do expect a clean and stocked room when we're prepaying the full summer price. I agree with another reviewer about the thin walls. The room above us had what sounded like a child jumping on the bed and onto the floor around 12 midnight to 2 am. We had to call the front desk and complain. While this wasn't the worst stay we've ever had, I'd probably try another hotel considering how many are located in Erie. read more

I travel for work, and this hotel is a regular stop for my business in Erie. No stunning views, it's across from the mall. Good location. Appears to be pretty new, it's pretty clean and well kept. Front desk staff is always friendly and helpful! My Grubhub guy forgot my silverware, but I was able to get some from the front desk, so that's appreciated. I travel alone so the suite is plenty big enough for me, but I wouldn't wanna bring my hubby and kids, the "suite" is just a little to small. It does have a mini fridge and microwave in the wet bar. Jacuzzi tub was nice. The complimentary breakfast is very nice, meats, eggs, bread, cereal, oatmeal, waffles. Very good spread! read more

Several other reviews compliment the staff & I agree with their assessments. The location is convenient, well-maintained, quiet, & clean. After checking multiple on-line sources, I found the best rate on the hotel's website itself. The breakfast bar was mediocre in variety but had some of the best selections of various condiments I've encountered. If management is paying attention, there are a few issues which detracted from providing a 5-star rating. The pool needs vacuumed. The 2-double bed suite has some quirks. When the entry door is open, the angular floor plan allows anyone passing by to see farther into the room. The same issue has you reaching nearly 4 ft. for toilet paper in the bathroom. Since the sink is not closed off from the sleeping area, those who may rise early to groom are more likely to disturb those trying to sleep. The grab bar for the bathtub is of no use because the toilet blocks entry from that end. Architecturally speaking, it was not well considered from a guest perspective. This was another one of our Hotwire deals and is easily one of the best rooms I have ever stayed in! We were in Erie for a wedding and arrived a few hours before check in hoping to get into a room early. (check in was at 3 and the wedding was at 3:30) We were fully prepared to get dressed for the wedding in the lobby restrooms, but they were very accommodating and got us into a room immediately upon our arrival. The room was wonderful! There was a separate seating area at the front of the room. It came equipped with a wet bar, microwave and fridge. The shower had good water pressure, and there were several mirrors to use as we each rushed around to get wedding ready. Above the bed were floodlights connected to a dimmer which worked nicely as a nightlight. My only complaint has nothing to do with the room. The breakfast buffet was set up in a weird corner in the lobby. It made it difficult for more than 10 people to get in for the buffet at any given time. This caused a huge line that backed up past the seating area. We decided to eat in our room. Truly not a big deal, but just something I found annoying enough to mention. read more

Fortunately, my credit card declined the hold as suspicious, but that doesn't change the fact that the hotel issued a hold weeks after my stay. Beware if you stay here! read more

Recently stayed at SpringHill Suites, Erie PA (July 8 2022). Room 227 was filled with large carpenter ants crawling on night stand, floor, under phone there were at least 30 ants, on beds. Front Desk staff claimed there were no other rooms available, and offered ant traps at midnight, after several attempts to move to another room. They finally offered to let us leave at no charge, at 11.30 pm with 2 toddlers in tow. There was evidently NO Manager on call or available until Monday. We left 2 voice mails for the Manager and Never received a call from her. Had to stay up all night watching for ants to assure they did not crawl on the toddlers during the night. Very Bad Night. They offered a $30 credit for our troubles. Room was $220 a night! Wrote to Marriott Customer Care and have not heard anything yet. Totally unacceptable room condition and completely disrespectful and inept staff. Front Desk staff were completely flustered, incompetent in how to handle the situation. Shameful. read more

We stay at A LOT of Marriott properties and this one could be a model for the others to learn from. The rooms are very nice, big, and clean. They are visually appealing too. Breakfast was good and included. The location here is perfect too. There are restaurants and lots of shopping within a minute or two drive. We will travel between upstate NY and southern Ohio a lot in the summer months and this will always be my choice for when we need to stop and rest from now on. read more

We recently stayed here for a few nights - it was sort of a mini vacation / mini family reunion, since we had family visiting from NY and then my family and my parents coming from the Burgh. I booked two rooms a few months prior and, since that time, received several emails with stuff to do in the area. A few days before our stay, I also received an email with the names of the staff who would be at the front desk, depending what time we arrived. I have to say that the room was great, probably one of the best I've ever stayed in. It just so happened we got a handicapped accessible room and it was very spacious and clean. My parents did not have a handicapped accessible room and there's was also very nice, although not as big. Both rooms had a couch with a fold out bed, a wet bar, and bathroom with the sink and mirror being in the separate area. The continental breakfast was decent, although I would have to agree with another yelper who commented on the eggs. Both mornings they were extremely undercooked for my liking. However, they had plenty of other options - waffles, cereal, fruit, muffins and other pastries, turkey and pork sausage, juices, coffee, etc. Other pros: the hotel is situated around several restaurants and the mall is right across the street. Erie Zoo and Presque Isle are close by. I would have preferred a place closer to the water, however Springhill Suites was the most accommodating for our needs. We have a 10 month old, so the mini fridge, microwave, and sink were needed. We also used the indoor pool, mostly just to get our little one in the water. We went down one night after dinner and there was no one else there. Yeah! But, of course, all of a sudden tons of kids came from nowhere within minutes. The pool area was okay, but it was a little cramped and there were no lounge chairs, just regular patio chairs, which would have made it uncomfortable to stay in there for a long period of time (which was probably the point). Also, there was a nice outside area with a "fire pit". This was nice, since we were there with family from out of town - it was a nice common meeting area where we could all visit. There was a work out room which I was unable to use, but my cousins used it and said it was nice. My biggest con was with the front desk staff. Upon arrival, I had told the girl that, although I had used my credit card to book the room, I wanted to pay with my debit card. And also, my parents would be paying for the room separately. She told me that she couldn't change the card until check out, and that since my credit card was already on file, it would too difficult to change it, due to it being on file for incidentals, etc. Whatever, I let it slide although I knew it would have only taken a few seconds. This also then forced both us and my parents to physically check out on the last day, as opposed to just leaving your key cards in the room, like many hotels offer. At check out, I mentioned again to a different girl that I was going to pay with a different card and that I was unable to do so at check in. She actually laughed and said, "look, I'll show you how quick it is". Then she took my card and swiped it, "see that was it". I got the impression she was either mad that the other girl didn't change it or was blaming me, as if I changed my mind last minute. Also, not once did anyone ask if we had a nice stay, thanked us for coming, or acknowledge our patronage. At check in, the girl never asked if we were in the area before, if we needed anything - nothing. It felt like checking us in was more of a burden than anything. Also, at one point, I asked yet another front desk person if check out was at 11 or 12, and she said, "Umm I'm not sure. I think 12". Umm - don't you work here? So, overall, poor customer service but worth the stay otherwise. If we go back up to Erie, I would consider staying here again but would maybe look around a little for another option. 4 stars because the room, which to me was most important, was great. read more

We stayed here for two nights over a weekend when we came into Erie to attend a wedding. We honestly didn't spend much time at the hotel since we are busy with wedding activities, but the hotel is very nice. It looks relatively new from the outside and its right off of I-79, which is one of the major highways in Erie. You can actually see it from the highway and one of the pluses is that you don't hear the highway noise! Its also surrounded by a ton of different restaurants and shops, so if you're looking for something to do or eat, you don't have to go very far. The entire hotel is non-smoking, which is another plus for me, since I am very sensitive to cigarette smoke. The room that we had was a king size room. The "suite" part of the room was the sitting room with a couch, desk and small kitchen area (microwave/fridge/sink). I'm not sure how comfortable it would have been to have had another couple. The room did look kind of small for a typical suite, but we didn't care too much since it was just the two of us. Overall, we were happy with the hotel. Since we weren't looking for too much to begin with, it definitely suited us. read more

The hotel is overrun with bedbugs. I stayed for two nights and have huge bites on my arm, neck and hands. My dermatologist confirmed my bites and swollen arms and hands were from bedbugs. Management refuses to acknowledge they have a bedbug problem, trying to cover it up. read more

Pretty good, but overpriced. The pricetag and the word "suites" in the title imply that this place is trying to compete with homewood suites or similar places. These places are a few notches up from the old holiday inn or best western, and for a few extra bucks my family prefers a little extra comfort. Springhill doesn't quite measure up. Item-by-item: 1) Check in / front desk: fast and very courteous. Samantha and Melissa were very nice and helpful, even suggesting the excellent Golden Wok for late night takeout. Top notch. 2) Room: Larger than a room at comfort inn, but not really a suite. There was a partition between the beds and the sleeper sofa, but that's it. The TV was on a swivel near the partition, making it not really watchable from either the sofa OR the beds. The wet bar was cool, but, once again, a real suite has a kitchen, even a small one. When the fan on the air conditioner kicked up to high, it sounded like a band saw. VERY annoying, and not a great night's sleep. We may have just had a defective unit. On the plus side, the room was very clean. 3) Food: The included breakfast was decent. Not great, but serviceable. It was well stocked and the woman with the sweet Jack Skellington tattoo worked like a madwoman to KEEP it stocked. No waiting for eggs like at most places. The 24-hour free coffee was greatly appreciated, even though the coffee is pretty nasty. 4) Facilities: This place is new, and it shows. Everything is nice and clean and in working order. The fire pit is cool at night. The pool was small, but big enough for the kids to have some laughs. The bottom of it had dirt. Piles of dirt. Gross. If this place had been $40 cheaper, I'd have rated it four stars. read more

The only hiccup we had was during check-in. The hotel had misspelled our name so we were a little worried since the hotel was completely booked. Thankfully, they quickly found our reservation. I was very pleased by our room - the size, the "newness" and the cleanliness. There is something about white sheets and duvet, that I really appreciate at a hotel. One of my favorite things was the free breakfast. They had a wide selection of eggs, sausage biscuits and gravy, bagels, cereals, etc. It was very thoughtful, where they had salsa and cheese as additives. It was a GREAT breakfast!!! read more

Well let's just start off by saying I would never use the old soap left behind for the previous person who stayed in my room so why would the maid leave it for my use? Secondly, the noise above my room was crazy loud BC of a party in the room above mine. Lastly, why would you leave another roll of toilet paper when someone is staying for 4 nights and the roll is barely 1/4 left? Now I'm not a complainer so it's just easier for me to stay elsewhere which I'll do. In short, I find the Marriott is being cheap which was not what I expected. Had a nice stay at this hotel during a very busy weekend. Checkin was easy and we found the room nice and clean. There is a large sitting area, desk, and a wet bar area with refrigerator and microwave. The hotel was fairly quiet and the little time we spent in the room was relaxing. The desk staff was extremely nice and friendly despite being totally slammed with people the weekend I was there. One would think that a hotel would be designed to operate at capacity but this one was not. From the lines at breakfast, to people waiting at the counter, the mornings here were sheer pandaemonium. Stayed for an evening this past weekend while in town for a fundraising party. The staff were welcoming and interactive. The lobby had several comfortable seating areas. We didn't make it down to breakfast, but there was 24/7 infused water, flavored coffee, regular coffee, decaf, hot tea, syrups, flavored creamers... all your heart desires! The rooms were clean and the bedding was comfy. We had a wet bar and sink in the room. The first floor rooms had air-jetted tubs in each room. Our friends said theirs was fabulous. The indoor pool had a nice fountain feature, but the space was small. If children were using the pool, you'd definitely get splashed sitting poolside, there'd be no avoiding that. Stayed on a Thursday and Friday night during July of 2019. Fantastic experience. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean (a bit dated). Had a jacuzzi suite. A lot of kids at the hotel during our stay. We have 3 ourselves. They enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and the breakfast options. No sound issues despite the hotel being sold out and packed. Will definitely stay here again as an alternative to bayfront when prices rise during the summer months read more

Booked through Priceline for one night. Got In early and the top was ready Beautiful new room Clean and huge, last few time In Erie we stayed at the bay front Sheraton, it is a nice hotel but the highest price in the city and its not as nice!! Look no further, because you just found the best hotel in Erie! Clean, modern, attentive staff. And the breakfast? Yumola! For those of you who are big coffee drinkers the coffee station is open 24/7!! Also available are hot water/tea and hot chocolate. Decent workout room (also open 24/7 in case you have insomnia), but pool is kind of small and no hot tub. Plus, pool temp is on the cooler side (hence the 4 star rating). As for the beds, oh my gosh, hella comfortable. Seriously awesome comfort level! It is walkable to Cheddars & O' Charley's for a quick lunch or dinner and across from a decent size mall.
