We had looked…read moreat another daycare center and didn't feel as welcome and reassured as we did at Little Rockers. The people make the place. From the director, assistant director to the teachers, they make every possible effort to get to know your children and the parents and make you feel comfortable that you've put your child's life in their hands. Our son struggled at first (and admittedly, I did too), but the amazing teachers and staff went above and beyond to make sure we always knew what was going on--how their day went, what they ate, when they slept, and all other little details they feel you should know. We haven't looked back since!

Just three incidents I want to tell. 1. He was 3 yr old,…read moreThey went outside of daycare for a Haloween parade (they didn't ask permission is one thing to take them on the road!) Later we discovered on their facebook page, they posted a picture where all the child in costume, only my son was not. He was not able to wear a dress without help. 2. We are Asian-Indian. Skin color brown. In summer they used to take them out for playing in the sunlight. They apply sunscreen to every child except my son. He has got a white patch on his cheek. The doctor told to apply Sunscreen when on Sun. We requested 4 times, they didn't care. 3. He told teachers tied him up with chairs, which they denied. My son was there from around 2 yr to 4 yr of age. Initially, he didn't cry because he didn't understand discrimination. But around age 4, when he realized he is getting different behavior than other kids, he started crying. After a month of the sunscreen case, we realized they have a serious problem with my child. He was severely depressed for at least 6 months, even after moving to another daycare. Now he is doing OK.

I had a 7:30 am appointment to tour the facility and when I arrived (on time) there was a sign on…read morethe door saying it was closed the day before today...no explanation. I tried calling to see if at least someone was there but there was no answer. I was not given the courtesy of a phone call, text, or email notifying me the center was closed so you can be certain we don't want our child there and will not be pursuing this any further. I had to wake my son up early this morning, get him fed and out the door quickly so that I could be on time to meet with them. Under normal circumstances its hard to do that with a 2 year old but it's especially difficult when there's bad weather (weather would not play a roll in the center being closed as they told me they only close in the event of a State of Emergency). I have continued to try to reach out to someone via email to find out what happened, but no response. Very disappointing.

Alice's true authentic Montessori school was warm and inviting. Unfortunately due to distance from us we decided may not be the best fit, but assure any parent her attention to detail and sections for children to focus on math, cursive, and art was nothing less than a beautiful display. The children are able to water flowers and do arrangements, have access to beautiful grounds and nature. Highly recommend and if location / travel time from where we live in Columbia was more feasible would have enrolled our daughter. A must for any parent looking for AMI teaching!!!

A wonderful guide, a great community, true Montessori practice (which is proven to work better for…read morechildren than Montessori-ish alternatives), and a place that offers great Montessori education without creating the warped sense of normalcy that children with predominantly super wealthy classmates are at risk of developing. Finding that all together is hard, but also so important. My toddler loves and is benefiting from practical life work, and so needs the grace and courtesy and independence that great Montessori primary programs can foster. I'm so, so grateful that Apple Ridge and Ms. Alice are here for him.
