In my 65…read moreyears, I have been to many funeral parlors and I can say, without a doubt, that the professionalism, accommodations, compassion and organization of Brueggemann's staff was wonderful. They made a very challenging time less painful and we were all able to truly celebrate the life of our father, husband, uncle, mentor and friend. The mass at the Church and 45 minute processional to the cemetery was handled with solemnity and precision. We felt we were guided gently through the process without being rushed or pushed. There was reason to be pushed because of the inclement weather and the funeral following behind us at the church. However, we were shielded from all of those concerns. The staff also collected all of the planters, flowers, pictures and mementos together so that we only needed to pick them, as well as thank you notes up the following day. They took extra care to find a preacher from my relative's country to lead the services--that was such a thoughtful touch. Please move away from money grubbing funeral homes like the one in Canarsie that everyone goes to -- they don't care about you nor your family member. Harmony proves that you can provide an important service to your community without emotionally nor financially blackmailing families to pay for unnecessary costs. Unlike many od the others who wrote reviews I had a good experience and had no issues at all. We delt with Christine who was great. She helped with everything and made everything easy for us. We decided on no service at the funeral home just a service at cemetery. Christine made arrangements for everything from 2 limos to take us to cemetery in New Jersey to all arrangements with deceased. Everything was easy and done with no issues. I think Gutterman's was great . I do not know what other funeral homes charge or to be honest what it cost to pass . Not sure if Gutterman's is expensive or cheap but they did do a great job. They offered NO…read moredirection to our wakes, didn't check in on us to see if we needed anything, NO organization, they rushed our immediate family out of the room before sealing the coffin saying "we're late we need to hurry". There's no regard for the grieving, no respect for the loss of life that we were experiencing. The director is an arrogant man who is better off behind a desk than in front of a group of grieving people. I will NEVER arrange another wake here again. It's a dumpy, run down little home in Syosset with awful lighting and out of date fixtures. Don't waste your time with these fools. Awful, awful, awful.
