The staff is very nice and the complimentary wine upon arrival is a nice touch. The breakfast consists of mostly cold items but is included in the price of the room and offers an array of choices. You can also ask for a soft boiled egg. The hotel is in walking distance to the church and schloss where everything is taking place for weddings and they also offer a free taxi until 11:30 at night, just in case you don't want to go by foot or the weather is bad. If you aren't getting fed from a wedding, then no worries, the restaurant serves up great seasonal dishes. I tried the spargel soup and my husband liked his backhendl salat. If the Steierbua was pleased, then you know it's gotta be decent! The area is perfect for visting the vineyards or the Loisium spa, or a great couples getaway.

And at the main entry of the hotel you are welcomed by a Saint Florian statue. Not only therefore but also because of the family name of the hotel owner family is Florian, the hotel's restaurant is called Restaurant Florian. I had a beef filet in sauce with Serviettenknödel (sliced bread dumpling) together with fresh green salad with pumpkin seed oil on top of it. The filet comes with Preiselbeermarmelade (cranberry marmalade) which is typical for Austria and very popular as it gives a sweet taste to your meat. went here many years ago but remember some of the quaint touches this place had such as their small…read moreelegantly designed elevator with clear glass trimmed in gold that fit 1-2 people only. this place certainly is romantic in many respects and i do recall lots of golds and reds throughout the place for the decor. the room was lovely but had an issue figuring out the shower at first...took some adjusting as i was still suffering from jet-lag. the dining area was also very nice with a great selection for breakfast although my ordering ability wasn't so great as i don't speak german. even though my recollection is a bit hazy as it was several years ago i do remember the overall ambiance and i would recommend it here if you are staying in Graz...

This hotel is in a perfect location to explore Graz and get some traditional Austrian food, drink and scenery. The lower review is down to room facilities. The room was large and clean but missed some essentials for me. There are no tea/coffee making facilities and no iron/ironing board. The bed was large, the pillows soft and the mattress firm. Not my personal preference but i slept and felt rested. Unfortunately, the thin walls made it harder as I heard everything my neighbours did (showers, opening their wardrobe etc) The biggest problem for me was the shower, although it was really clean and modern I had problems with the water. You cannot set a consistent temperature. It would go ice cold and then scolding hot within seconds. Sometimes it would be fine, but sometimes it was hard to take a shower. I suspect it's when it others are using the water nearby. Overall my experience was okay and because I was busy I was never able to give the hotel the opportunity to fix my problems. I'm sure if I did they would have done their best as the staff were extremely friendly upon checkin and came across very helpful.
